Union Mrs. Lindsey Is Hostess to WSCS The Woman's Society of Ch- J ristian Service met at tne home of Mrs. Delbert Lindsey on last Thursday afternoon with 15 members and one visitor pres ent. The president opened the meeting with an article from "The Upper Room". Mrs. Todd conducted the devotionals. Her topic was "In Deed and In Truth". Scripture lesson used was found in I Cor. 13:1-7. Ten dollars was voted to be given to the '"March of Dimes'. Mrs. At tebery reviewed another chapter of the Study Book. The hostess served delicious refreshments at the close of the meeting. Union Mr. and Mrs. Donald McQuinn and family and Mr. and Mrs. John McQuinn of Omaha were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Rich Saturday evening. Union Musical Program At Union Woman's Club Meeting The Union Woman's Club held their January meeting at the Methodist church last Tues day afternoon. Guests were in vited from other organizations to attend this meeting. A tech nicolor film was shown, telling of the wonderful work done in Children's Memorial hospital in Omaha. A musical program was then presented by Mrs. Wayne La Rue directing the students of the Union high school. Carol Ann Pike favored the guests with an accordion solo. Ronald j Bosswell sang Loch Lomond, ac i companied by Dorothy Schauot. "Home to Our Mountains was given by the Girl chorus. The closing number by the whole group was "Joshua"'. Mrs. Rob ert Grunwald. president of the Union club, then conducted a short business meeting in which all members donated to the March of Dimes. Mrs. Robert Harrah, Sr., hostess for the meeting and Mrs. Jan? Roddy, program chairman, served cook ies, mints, nuts and coffee from an attractive serving table. Mrs. Grunwald poured. t'nlnn - Mr. and Mrs. Walter Everman and children of Avoca spent Saturday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rogers. Mrs. Verle Ackley presented a beautiful picture to the Pri mary Department of the Me thodist Sunday school last Sun day. L'nion Servicemen Visit by Phone Two of our home boys, who are stationed in Japan, had a very pleasant experience a short time after Christmas. Don Mar tin was at Yokosuka on his way home to the United States when he placed a telephone call to Merle Rogers, who was stationed about 300 miles from there. The boys had a wonderful visit for about one hour over the tele phone. Don is expected home any day now. Untnti Mr. and Mrs. George Stine and daughters, Ellen, Kathryn and Caroline and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cross and Miss Iva Mougey were dinner guests of Mr. and ' Mrs. Herman Comer last Sun- j day. Barbara Wolf is now assisting with the serving in the luncn room. She is taking Carol Ann s place as Carol Ann has a class period at the hour before noon, so had to give up the work in the lunch room. Donald Dickman slipped and fell Tuesday evening at the school house as he was getting out of the car. He struck his head on a pryex pie plate that his mother was holding and cut a gash on his forehead. Union Commnuity Club Meets at School House Monday The January meeting of the Community Club was held at the school house last Monday nieht. There was a fine nttpnri- ance. Mrs. Clarence Beccard, president, called the meeting to order and conducted a short business meeting before the pro gram. Mrs. i,a Kue accompanied the miDils of Mrs Rirh's rnnm in two songs. ' London Bridge", and "Hickery, Dickory, Dock". The high school girls sang iiome to our Mountains , af ter which the high school boys joined the girls and sang, "Jer ico". Mrs. Lester Hathawav. teacher of the Tavlor srhnnl presented her pupils in a pro gram oi song as louows: Kay Neil, Betty True, Chas. Stander and Jerry Neil ' brought down me nouse- as tney sang tne "Mama and Papa Song" in old style costumes. All the pupils men sang, -jnow is tne Time". Kay Neil and Betty True sang "Look out the Window". Mrs. Nelson Berger was a house guest Thursday and Fri day of her sister. Miss Allegra Wilkens at Lincoln. Thursday afternoon they visited their aunt, Mrs. Clara Finch. That evening they attended the gov ernor's inaugural ball at the university coliseum.
