The visiting committee re ported that Opal Allen is at the Veterans hospital at Omaha. Chairmen of the Koronation committee reported having met with directors cf the Kins Korn K!ub at the city hall last Tues day. Edith Haley and Minnette Sylvester will be in charge of the Duchesses. Thelma Kelso resigned her office as conductress. The attendance award was won by Florence Arnold. Keyes Return From California M-Sgt. and Mrs. Eldon Keyes returned Friday from a vaca tion trip to the west coast. They visited with n sister of Set. ! Keyes at Potter Valley, Califor nia. While motoring near Potter Valley Sgt. Keyes had the ex perience of killing a large tim ber rattlesnake. The reptile had fourteen rattles and was one of the largest seen in that section of California. They also visited in Oregon and Washington before return ing here. Sgt. Keyes is stationed at Of futt Field. New Yorkers Are Recent Visitors - Mrs. Margaret Gardner and son, of New York, were here the last of the week visiting with Miss Minnie Guthmann, aunt of Mrs. Gardner. They are en route to Boise, Idaho, where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Guthmann, parents of Mrs. Gardner. Sunday visitors of Mrs. Rose Brookmeyer were Mrs. Brown of Indiana, Mrs. Nesladek of California, and Mrs. Krisky of Omaha. Mr. Olson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Olson of Burwell, Nebraska. Alice Ann, the bride elect, is a graduate of Plattsmouth high school with the class of 1950. She is a junior at Teachers Col- I lege at the University of Ne braska. She expects to continue her schooling after marriage. Mr. Olson is a senior at the University of Nebraska college of agriculture, and also plans to complete his schooling before going into service. He is an of ficer in ROTC at the University. Meeting Thursday Evening Gleaners Circle was hostess to the Women's Society of Chris nan Service of the Methodist church at the church parlors on Thursday evening. i Mrs. L. J. Dalton was elected to represent the Society at the School of Missions to be held August 25 through 29th at the University of Wesleyan campus at Lincoln. The business meeting was conducted by Eleanor Winscott. president. The group voted to hold a silent auction at the next meet in0 '. Pat Baburek presented the program which was highly en joyed by members. Refreshments of ngel food cake, ice cream, mints and cof fee .were served by the hostess, Sophia Wolever, assisted by June Aspedon, Pauline Hill and Edith Akeson. Prizes were won in the games by Eleanor Win scott, Emma Mendenhall and Florence Persinger. Garden Club Board Plans KKK Flower Show, On Friday. August 8. the ex ecutive board of Plattsmouth Garden Club met at the home of Mrs. R. B. Keller to outline plans for the Kine Korn Kar nival Flower Show, to be spon sored, by the club. The show will be staged at the disolav room of Cass County Motor ComDanv on Sixth Street and First Avenue. The board recommends that entrants start groominu their entries now and that entrants work together with sponsors to make the flower show the best ever held. Members of the board are Mrs. R. B. Keller. Mrs. Wm. E. Brown, and Mrs. Wm. Sprandel. Couple Will Note 50th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John Rohrdanz 1 will observe their 50th weddin? "niversarv on Sunday. August 17. Aleck-Rishel Rites Are Told Mrs. Mary Aleck, of Omaha, and James Rishel, of Platts mouth, were married August 2 in the Methodist church at Ly ons, Nebraska, with Rev. Cox. nastor of the church, officiat ing. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barkus were their attendants and en tertained the wedding party at dinner proceeding the ceremony. Following a visit here, Mr. and Mrs. Risbel will make their home in Omaha. J. Rhylander announce the engagement of their daughter, Jeanette. to Mr. Charles J. Vais. Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Vais. Sr., of Schuyler. Miss Rhylander graduated from Nebraska Methodist school of nursing with the class of 1951. Mr. Vais graduated from Creighton University this spring. A September wedding is plan ned. Jerry and Jean nie Maddox and the host and hostess, Mr. Snd Mrs. August Kopp. Nebraskans Picnic In Northwest; Post To Ex-Platter Over 200 former Nebraskans eathered together at Manito Park in Spokane. Washington, for their annual picnic on July 27. Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Lillie and dauahter. Rose Marie, for merly of Plattsmouth. were among those present and report a wonderful time. The sectidn of the park oc cupied hy the former Nebras kans was decorated with corn and wheat. Its main speaker had only recently been a Ne braska visitor. Oldest member present was 84. Mr. Lillie was elected to the entertainment committee and games and contests were con ducted. Club members voted to have their annual banquet next March at the Spokane Masonic Temple. Cousins Meet After 24 Years Mrs. Roy Aylor was pleasantly surprised when her cousin. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dugan of Ver million. South Dakota, arrived for a short visit. Mrs. Aylor and Mrs. Dugan had not seen each other for 24 years. Illinois Family Departs For Home Mr. and Mrs. Terry Bennett and family have returned to their home at Forrest Park. Illinois, after spending two weeks with Mrs. Bennett's par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Lepert. and with other relatives and fripnds.- A number of social events were held honoring the Bennetts during their stay here. A picnic in tbeir honor was held at the Charles Kreici home in Omaha last week. Vinduskas Return From Colorado Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vinduska and daughters have returned following a weeks outing in Colorado Springs and Denver. While in the mountain state they also visited with Lester Vinduska at Stratton. Colo. J. June 30, at eight o'clock in the evening at the Engelwood Reorganized church of Jesus Christ of Lat ter Day Saints. Miss Patricia Jean Gold of 1113 West Waldo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce E. Gold of Plattsmouth. and Edward James Juliff. son of Mr. and Mrs. Percival J. Juliff of Independence, were united in marriage. The Reverend Fred O. Davis read the service before a setting of white gladioli, babies-breath. Dlms. woodwardia ferns and candelabras holding tall white lighted tapers. The pews cf the bridal aisle were marked with bows of white satin ribbon. Preceding the ceremony, Oliv- , er C. Houston. Jr., played a program of organ selections, which included "Kamennoi Ostrow." "Wonderful One." "Why Do I Love You." "Oh Promise Me" and "Thine Alone." Mrs. William G. Simpson of Kansas City, lyric Soprano, ac comoonied by the organist, sang "I Love Thee". "Throueh the Years" and "The Weddinp Prayer", which was sung at the end of the service. A stringer ensemble composed of Fores' Leibold. Annabelle Prell. Lef Kenepp, violinists; Milford Nace. cellist; and accompanied by Thelma KenapD. pianist. Dlaved "Because". "I Love You Truly" and "At Dawning" while candles were lighted. "O Perfect Love" was played as the minister groom and groomsmen entered and "Liebestraum" was played during the ceremonv. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of blush pink nylon tulle over pale pink satin, fashion with a pointed basque bodice and drop shoulder neckline. The voke of illusion was draped with soft folds of matching tulle caught with lilies-of-the-valley. The long fitted sleeves which tap ered over her hands were fas tened with tiny covered buttons. The voluminous hooped skirt lengthened into a long aisle wide train. Her double-tiered waist length veil of matching illusion was held in place with a shaped bonnet brim of lilies-of-the-valley. and she carried a French bouquet of bountiful roses and stephanotis encircline a white orchid and interspursed with white, lace leave and ros ette streamers of lilies-of-the-valley. Miss Whalen was one of 30 i taking the Cook tour of Canada. Originating in Chicago, the I tour included stops at Vancou- J ver, Victoria, Seattle, Portland, ! San Francisco, Los Angeles and Hollywood, with a return trip through New Mexico. Travelers from Rome, Italy, and Ulster Island were also in the group of 30 making the tour. Iowans Are Guests At Rhoden Home Returning to Plattsmouth fol lowing a visit at Davenport, la., are Mrs. Blanche Rhoden and son. Gene. They had been guests of Mrs. Rhoden's brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cannon at Davenport. Mr. and Mrs. Cannon, former Plattsmouth residents, returned with Mrs. Rhoden and her son for a short visit here. Miss Peggy Van Loon was maid of honor and Miss Doris Mariott. of Des Moines. Iowa, was bridesmaid. They wore gowns of pink nylon net and lace over taffeta, "styled witn fitted bodices of lace and mat ching boleros fashioned with manderin collars and cap sleev es. The bouffant skirts were styled with tiered side panels of Miss Van Loon and Miss Mar iott carried pir v acle bouquets of pink majestic daisies and caladium leaves tied with pink lacelon ribbon, and thev wore garlands of daisies in their hair to match their bouquets. Mr. and Mrs. Juliff are re siding at 1113 West Waldo un til their new home in Queen City Acres is completed, follow ing a honeymoon to California and Mexico.
