CASE, County Judge No. 1880 July 17, 24, 31. 1952 Steers, Heifers Top Shipments rom Cass County Cattle supply, boosted by a big run of cows, was heaviest in nearly three months Monday at Omaha. The cattle run totalled 14,0C0 and included 75 carloads of cows. Fat cattle sold unevenly steady to 50 cents lower. Hogs sold strong to 25 cents higher and lambs were down 25 to 50 cents. Among recent sales to Oma ha for shippers from this area were F. L. Hebard. 22 steers, weighing 997 at S32.50 and two steers weighing 972 that brought $31; Gayer and Cuthrell, 31 heifers weighing 882 that brought $33; and 17 hogs weigh ing 205 at $21.25; Warren Rikli, 15 steers, weighing 1,090 at $33.35; Carl E. and Carl S. John son, 24 steers weighing 1,151 at $33; Myron Wiles, 39 hogs weighing 238 at $21.25; Victor Ross. 18 steers weighing 1115 at $32.50; and Louis Ross, 18 steers weighing 1,138 that brought $31. Other shippers included G. R. Eveland. 14 steers weighing 1, I 143 that brought $32.7o; and McQuinn and Ost. 9 steers weighing 986 that sold at S30.5J and three steers weighing 933 that brought S23. ALMOST DIE IN BARRELS McAlester, Okla. In an at tempt to escape from the Okla homa State Penitentiary, three convicts sealed themselves in soao barrels which were sched uled for shipment outside the walls. The three stayed in the barrels nearly two hours while a truck jostled them around the prison groinds. Finally one of them cut a hole in the side of his barrel to get some air. A guard noticed his hair showing and discovered the escape at tempt.
