Hirz Twirls No Hitter; Bests Archer In 1-0 Win Denny Hirz, Cass Drug twirler, hurled the second no-hit, no run game ot the Midget Baseball League Friday as h white washed Waster Shoe Store, 1-0. In hurlin the no-hitter, Hirz outpitched Danny Archer, who ov;ji the first no-hitter of the campaign. Hirz struck out ten and walked only two in registering the win. He pitched to only 18 men in the live inning contest. One run ner reached first on an error. Archer also whiffed ten. It was a scoreless contest for four full innings before ihe Druggists pushed across a run in the top of the fifth. With one out Wilson singled and stole M-cond and third while Taylor struck out. He scored as Nielsen reached first on an er- : ror. ; The Druggists threatened in ; the first inning as Wilson 1 singled and advanced to third a-s Taylor walked and both stole 1 a base. Archer struck out Niel sen and Iioloubek to end the threat. The Druggists had run ners on second and third in the second inning but were unable to push them across. Runners . reached third in the third and fourth innings also. The best the Shoefitters could do was to get a man to second base. Long reached second on an error in the first inning. ; Cass Drug temporarily moved ; into the league leadership on ' the basis of Hirz no-hitter. They now have a 7-2 record. The loss evening Woster"s record at 4-4. Wilson's timely hitting and base running featured Cass , Drug's offensive play. Hild En Route For Overseas Duty With German Forces Pvt. Herbert Hild, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hild, left by plane from Omaha for New York City on the first leg of a voyage which will take him to Germany where he will join American occupation forces. Pvt. Hild, recently on leave here, had previously been sta tioned .at Fort Riley, Kansas. He has been in the service since February 8. He is assigned to an infantry unit. Lt. LeRoy Hild, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hild, recently ar rived in Greenland, where he is stationed with the Air Force. Johnson is hitting an unbe lievable .850 in games through last Thursday. His batting rec nrri shows 17 hits in 20 triDS to : the plate. Johnson had played i in eight games through Thurs 1 day. He's also one of the lead ing scorers with 13 runs to his credit. In second place is Stuart Niel i sen. catcher and manager for Cass Drug. Nielsen has ten hits , in 16 trips to the plate with six games under his belt. Nielsen ; has scored nine times and boasts a .625 record. ' Four other Midget players hit ; ting .500 are Loren Haase, State ' Bank. .556; Aylor and Jenkins nf Maree & Elmer's with .545, , and .500 averages; and Dean I : Biles of the First cnrisuan i Church who also has a :500 mark.
