Juniors Fete At Banquet Juniors paid their annual - homage to seniors at Platts mouth high school Saturday night when they entertained at the annual junior and senior banquet. Attendance was placed at 1C9. Guests included mem bers of the faculty and board of education. A. W. Huebner, president of the board of education, gave the principal address at the banquet and talked on "Yonder on the Open Road." Huebner pointed the direction for seniors to take in pursuing their careers. j Junior President Tom Conis i welcomed the juniors and other guests, while Ron Ofe, senior ! president, responded for the graduating class. James Craig miie gave a reading on gypsies, keeping in tune with the "gypsy camp'' theme of the banquet. Truman Lyiie, dramatic instruc tor, gave a reading entitled "stew pot.'" Entertainment was provided ! by a male quartet featuring Tom Conis. Willard Christenson, Wendell Friest and John Ahrens. Decorations carried out the ' Gypsy" theme. The new son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nicklas of Wauneta has been named Gregory Karl. Mrs. Ruth Monning spent Thursday at Lincoln with her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Reeve Mills who is in the Bryan hospital after a major operation on Tues day. r. unworn! Mrs. Plybon Hostess To Kensington Community Kensington was held on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Plybon, with 23 ladies present. Mrs. Otto Stege had charge of the pro gram. Mrs. Linda Gustin gave an interesting account of her recent trip to California. Special music was a flute solo by George Stovall and a vocal number by Martha Ann Stolz, both accom panied by Joyceola Eidenmiller. Covered dish luncheon was en joyed. Her early life was spent in Cass county. Her father con ducted a merchandise store a$ Wabash -and later at Elmwood, in which she was a clerk for a time. She was united in marriage to Edwin Jeary in 1908. He preced ed her in death. Survivors in clude two daughters. Isla Lena Jeary and Kathleen Jeary of Denver, three sisters, Elaine l0 ImPeriai' $?. Oud i erkirk of Englewood. Colo., and Mrs. NieLson of Oxford. Nebr., two brothers, both of Imperial, Nebr. A large number attended the funeral services at the Methodist church on Tuesday and there were many floral tributes. Serv ices were conducted by Rev. Louise Ward, and music was furnished by Mrs. V. G. Clements and Mrs. Dwight Clements. In- terment was in Elmwood ceme tery. Kimwood Miss Klemme Is Shower Honcree Miss Lillie Klemme was hon ored with a miscellaneous show er at the home of Mrs. Blanche Kuehn on Thursday evening with Mrs. O. E. Liston as co hostess. There were 18 guests present, including those from Elmwood and Murdock. Miss Klemme received a basket piled with nice gifts. Refreshments were served consisting of chick en salad, whiffen chips, nut bread, sherbet, cup cakes and coffee. Her marriage to Loren Hanke of Wahoo is to take place May 12th. Mrs. Fitch Has First Air Ride Mrs. Bertha Fitch had her first airplane ride last week. When her daughter Ruth and husband, Cecil Stilgebaur of Hu ron, South Dakota, were here she returned with them by car and after a few days visit she came back by air and she saw a great deal of flooded area on the trip. Editor George Blessing and Clarence Reuter had a plane ride last week when they viewed the flood at high stage around Oma ha and other points. Kim wnJ Several Aid Flood Flight The men helping with the dike work at Nebraska City recently were Paul Husar, Herold Kreck low, Wellington Dennis. John Thomas. Chuck Backemeyer, Keith Drake, Dudley Doebele, Dick Apt. Wally Laughlin, and Supt. O. A. Colon. The two last named were drivers of the cars. Some of the helpers were high school boys. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Coon are now on their farm near Peasant dale. They went on last Satur day after having set several times to go when looking for fair weather. Sharon and Gerald Freden burg entertained a group of friends and their teacher at a birthday party at their home re cently. Ice cream and cake were served. On Monday boys leaving for army training and service were Jerry Bornemeier, Francis Sei ker and from Avoca, Art Norris.
