Tiiaiwond Wesleyan Chorus Presents Chorus 'The men's A 'Capella chorus of Wesleyan University gave a concert for the school and for the public at the Methodist church on Friday at 11 a. m. After the enjoyable music the singers were entertained in the basement to a pancake dinner. ! The W. S. C. S. ladies served also I pancakes and other eats to the I public for dinner and supper and thus made a nice ntue sum. Elmwood The ladies council met at the Christian church on Friday aft ernoon. Mr. Drake, who has been man aging the Elms cafe, plans to start in at his former log haul ing work after the first of April. Mrs. Thomas is to take over the cafe business. Boy, Girl Picked For State Meet Keith Bornemeier has been chosen by several organizations to represent our community at Boys' State and Beth Blessing wil go to Girls' State convention at the University of Nebraska I campus early this summer. Kim wood Mr. and Mrs. John Bantz of Albion, Nebr., are moving into an apartment at the Douglas home. He will work at the Engles Lumber Co., with his cousin, Fred Linhardt, who is also em ployed there. Mrs. Nettie Mendenhall was a business visitor in Weeping Wa ter cn Friday. She also called on friends while there. Rev. S. W. Longacre, a former pastor here, is in Bryan Memo rial hospital for treatment. Lyman Cromwell was a week end business visitors in Elm wood. wrowoou Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dann of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Os car Granahman of Syracuse attended the organ dedication services at the Methodist church err Sunday and vlrited nt the : home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Miller. The three ladies are sis ters. Miss Hazel Billows of Ray mond attended the memorial for Mrs. Gillett. She reports that Miss Jessie Bragg is in Wyoming, because of the death of her brother-in-law, husband of the former Lucy Bragg. Klmwooil Organ Dedicated At Church Sunday Sunday was a large day at the Methodist church. The new or gan was dedicated in the morn ing under the leadership of the pastor. Rev. Miss Ward. The or es n music was ably played by Mrs. Dwitrht Clements, several special solos being rendered. A large crowd was present, among them Rev. and Mrs. Victor West, the former giving a talk. Other Lincoln visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cowell and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Miller and family. Also present was Matthew Thim gan of Murdock who made the panels and did other carpenter work, and his wife. Hattie Dickinson Gillett. 85. of Lincoln passed away in that city on Friday. March 28 She was a native of Michigan. She lived near Eicht Mile Grove as a youth. Much of her life was spent in and around Elm wood, but she had lived at Lin coln in the home of her son. Wright, for 12 years. She also was wi'.h her son. Frank, and daughter, Margaret for part of the time. On March 12. 1886 she was married to Frank Gillett. She and her husband were in the cream and poultry station business here for a' number of years. He died some years ago after a car accident. She was a member of the Christian church and Roval ; Neighbor lode while here. Survivors are the two sons in Lincoln and the daughter, Mrs. Emil Meyer of Fairbury, 3 grand children and one great grand child. Funeral services were con ducted at the Christian church in Elmwood on Monday after noon in charge of Rev. Sheaff of Lincoln and Rev. O. Turner, pas tor here. Singers were Opal Clements and Helen Schneider, and at the piano was Mrs. Jessie Creamer. Lutz, Jr., of Co lumbus, who was graduated on March 14th. Besides studying, Lutz found time to do two out side bookkeeping jobs, work for the Legislative Reference Bu reau in the State House, and be an associate editor of the Ohio State University Law Journal.
