Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. George Spaniel of Henry, S. D., spent last week here with Mr. and Mrs. George Smith. The two children of Mr. and Mrs. Smith who had been staying with Grandpa and Grandma Smith returned home with their parents. Weeping Water Twelve Attend Club Meeting Mrs. Frank Cook was hostess, assisted by Mrs. Arthur Meeske, last Tuesday afternoon to the Opportunity Club, with 12 mem bers and one guest, Miss Pearl Schultz attending. Following the regular business meeting week's spring vacation here with Mrs. C. H. Spohn presented the Mr. and Mrs. Vance Harris of Omaha were brief visitors here at the home of her father. John Morris. Bill Morris of Lincoln was also a visitor at his father's heme last Wednesday. Walter Roberts made an aft ernoon trip to Lincoln Friday. Joyce Fernbaugh visited with Miss Kathryn Ellis last Sunday while she was here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Murlin Fernbaugh of Grand Island. Miss Virginia Philpot and Miss Fern Dougherty accompanied Miss Donna Mae Philpot to Lin coln last Sunday. WerninK WnttT Evangelistic Meetings Start The United Missionary church are conducting a series of evan gelistic meetings which began March 25. The services are in charge of Rev. Orlan Golden of Ft. Wayne, Ind., where he is fre quently heard on a worship serv ice over WOWO. Rev. Sherman I Mills is the local pastor. The ! meetings are to be held for two j weeks. W'crping WaU-r Easter Basket Plans Outlined Mrs. Jack Hays and Mrs. John Bender were appointed to ar range for Easter baskets at the last regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary last Tuesday evening. The Easter remembrances are to be given to members of the Raines Rest Home and Hill Top Home. Mrs. Jack Cohen is to have charge of the Poppy day sales which is scheduled for May 24th. Weepine Water Three Leave For California Keith Kroll, who accompa nied Mrs. William Van Every and children here from Cali fornia, left Tuesday after a visit of several days here with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hopkins and other relatives. Mrs. Hopkins and Charles Philpot, son of Charles H. Philpot, accompanied Mr. Kroll on his return trip to Compton, Calif. Mrs. Hopkins will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Den nis Scott and family of Long Beach and other relatives. Weeoinij Water Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Hunter of Ft. Collins, Colo., visited here Monday with Henry Crozier, Archie Crozier and Mr. and Mrs. William Van Every. Mrs. Hun ter, the former Ruth Noyes, is a niece of Mrs. Van Every. Wrfping Water Addresses DAR Meeting Recently Mrs. B. A. Olive, Mrs. Law rence Wiseman, Mrs. Clarence Norris. Mrs. Ray E. Norris went to Nehawka Friday afternoon where Joan Norris, daughter of Mrs. Clarence Norris, spoke to the Jonathan-Cass Chapter of DAR. Joan gave her winning 4-H speech on "Democracy and 4-H" to the group. The meet ing was held at the home of Mrs. Raymond Pollard with Miss Evelyn Wolph assisting hostess. Weeplnsr Wflter Rainbow Girls Sponsor Dance Rainbow girls held their teen ager dance Friday evening at the school auditorium. Some 45 youngsters attended the dance which was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Richmond P. Hob son, Mrs. Clarence Norris and Mrs. Murray Mutter. A small i entrance fee was charged to de fray the cost of refreshments. Music was furnished by Archie Crozier and by way of record ings. Weeping "Water Club May Seek Start Hospital The Weeping Water Commu- ! nity Club have another new project in view. They are mak ing investigations concerning the possibility of a community hospital. This cast week the deputy state engineer, D. G. Eck strand of Lincoln, with club members, made a tour of the old high school building and the resulting report from the depu ty was that the building was in satisfactory condition and had never been officially condemned by the state department. r Weeping- Water Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Haith and son, Larry, of Omaha, were last Sunday visitors in Weeping Water. While here they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bark hurst. Mrs. Martha Little returned here last week from Louisville where she spent the winter months with Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Wilson. Mrs. Wilson is Mrs. Little's daughter. Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Mathers, their children, Wayne, Marlee, Karen, Irwin and Terry are newcomers as of last week, hav ing moved here from a farm near Elmwood. They are now lesson on Quick Breads and demonstrated the making of muffins which were served as a part of the hostesses refresh ments. Weeping Water Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Fischer and two sons of Falls City spent the week end here with Mr. and Mrs. Knud Jensen, her parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson were Omaha visitors last week end with Mr. and Mrs. Al Lust- l parten and family. Mrs. Robin son remained for several days visit with her daughter's family. Weeping Water Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hedden moved this past week to their new location on a farm near Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Weber and family moved in to the vacated park Place prop erty on Saturday. They pre viously lived on Gospel Hill. Danish Ladies Make Lap Robes Mrs. Harold Thomassen was hostess last Thursday afternoon to the Danish Ladies Aid So ciety. The ladies worked on lap robes and pillows. Weeping1 Water Past Noble Grand fClub Meets Recently Mrs. C. H. Gibson was hostess with Mrs. Ross Kinton assisting hostess to the Past Noble Grand Club last Wednesday evening. The ladies worked on lap robes and one day this week Mrs. Ralph Lane and Mrs. George El lis took one of the finished prod ucts to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith, fellow lodge members. Mrs. Fred Neumeister has just returned from a ten day vaca tion trip where she visited in Sterling with Mr. and Mrs. Emil Melander, the latter is her sis ter, with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wil- helm and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Schmidt and family of Cook. The latter took her to Nebraska City Tuesday where she spent until Friday with Mrs. Rosa Wander. The Schmidts brought her home Friday afternoon. The Cass County Farm Bureau being vitally concerned with county road im provement feels that an emergency fund should be established to repair bridges, thus expediting the improvement of roads, therefore, in accordance with a Resolu tion adopted at the annual meeting of Oct. 23, 1951 Louisville, Nebraska. The organization has requested the county commissioners to submit the following proposition to the voters of Cass County. "Shall the Board of County Commissioners of Cass County, Nebraska, beginning in the year 1952 and for e additional year thereafter exceed the levy of 50c on the one hundred dollar . -luation fixed by Section 23-117 R. S. 1943, by levying one and six-tenths (1 C " V mills on the dollar valuation on all taxable property in Cass County, Nebraska, for the construction, main tenance and repair of bridges all in addition to the levy authorized by law for county purposes and in addition to the legal levy limits; provided, the total levy for bridges shall not exceed one and six-tenths (1 G 10) mills, inclu ding the levy herein authorized."
