Cole was named on the bal lot of each of the seven coaches, including Coach Merle Stewart, who tutored the scoring great In his four years of cage activity here. Others named to the All-Conference team at a meeting of conference coaches at the N club room at the University of Ne braska coliseum at Lincoln Sat urday were Jim Spain of Belle vue; Jim Carlson of College View: Keith Pollard of Ashland and Richard Alexander of Blair. Spain, Alexander and Pollard were named on every ballot ex cept one. The coaches also named six cagers who rated honorable mention. Cliff Kennell, co-cap tain of the Blue Devils, was one of the six to rate the distinc tion. Also named were Jerry Proctor of Ashland, Bob Weich ert of Bellevue; Ronald Bach man of Blair, Clyde Cook of Col lege View, and Fred Fujan of Wahoo. At the coaches session, Stew art was presented the confer ence basketball trophy, which the Blue Devils won by going undefeated in conference activ ity. Gerald Otterstein Leads 40 & 8 Club Junior Riflemen Eleven Piattsmouth youths are learning how to handle fire arms through the 40 & 8 Junior Rifle Club recently organized. Meeting each Monday night at the indoor rifle range in the basement of the 40 & 8 building, the junior riflemen are instruct ed by Sgt. Leland Lewis. The Junior Rifle Club, organ ized for boys between the ages of 12 and 18 is sponsored by the 40 & 8 and Modern Woodmen of America. Shooting and instruc tion is held every Monday night at 7:30. There is n charge or admission fee. Boys interested in club mem bership may make application at Woster Shoe Store. In early meetings, Gerald Ot terstein has registered the top score with 67 points out of a possible 75. Gas powered rifles are used by the club. Otterbein set the top marksmanship rec ord in three positions, standing, sitting and kneeling. The group is currently plan- mug to prepare a portion of the iase at tne Rod and Gun Club camp for seining. Work on the project is scheduled to start next Sunday. Pfc. Fred Beins and wife de parted Monday for North Caro lina, where he is to enter a weld ing school April 1. They had been visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beins for the past ten days. Fred H. Naeve of Hastings was here Sunday to visit his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Naeve. He took Mrs. Jfaeve and son. Fred, Jr., to Tarkio. Mo., where they will spend the week. They will be here next Sunday to visit. J. Manager Hogan Trammell told the membership that speak ers are now oeing sought, and that date of the event will be determined by the availability oi a speaKer. He also disclosed that trophys will be presented to the out standing back, lineman and most valuable basketball player as aetermmea Dy tne iootball and basketball teams. James Begley has been assist ing in the preliminary plans for the banquet. Baseball And Track Squads To Start Drills Organization of track and baseball squads is slated to be held at the high school this aft ernoon, Monday, Ahtletlc Direc tor Merle Stewart disclosed to day. With the completion of the basketball season, spring sports will soon dominate the activity piciure on tne nintop. Stewart said drills will probably get un derway Tuesday. Coaches Stewart and Eugene Shields will share duties during the spring drills. Recalling activity a year ago, between rains, Piattsmouth reg istered a strong baseball team but lacked punch on the cinders. ExceDt for Ditchers. Piattsmouth appear to have chances for another good baseball season, while the track prospects are still unexplored. Good weather conditions could make a difference in the per formance of the two spring teams. Schedules for the spring sports have not been announced. Davis Tells Of Delivering Tire Eppie Davis of Cedar Creek was in Piattsmouth Saturday, and while here rprnnntvt th circumstances which led to the return or the $150 truck tire lost by Fritz Siemoneit. He said he found the tire while returning to his home from Weeping Water. After reading the ad in the paper, he loaded the tire in his car and drove over to the Siemoneit farm, where the tire was deliv ered. Mrs. Conrad and Mrs. Miller were called here for the funeral of Mrs. Wm. Glau bitz of Syracuse. An all-day quilting bee was held at the home of Mrs. Ward Schade Wednesday. The ladles were quilting for the Child's Saving Institute, j Week end guests' at the home of his parents at Des Moines, Iowa, were Sgt. and Mrs. Jack Biegger. Robert J. Wheeler is a war rant officer at Camp Polk. La., as post dental surgeon. Shopping in Piattsmouth Fri day were Mr. and Mrs. Ben A. Muenchau of Alvo. Pat Osborn and Lovell Geslave of Nebraska City were here Sun day for a short time. Mr. Os born was formerly with the Journal. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schuldice and Albert Schuldice of Omaha were here Sunday to look after some work at the Schuldice apartments in the west part of the city. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Boshear of Omaha were here Sunday to spend a few hours with friends. Dr. Kenneth Stout of Omaha visited his aunt. Mrs. E. A. Hitt Sunday. He will leave April l for Tennessee where he will lo cate. He recently graduated from medical school.
