Chair mar. Mrs. William Ofe opened the meeting. Mrs. Louis Naeve was devo tional leader and gave a prayer which was followed by ths sa lute to the flag. For devotional she read the Bible readings for the day and a topic on "World Day of Prayer." Twenty members and ten vis itors were present for the regu lar business meeting which fol lowed. All repeated the "Lord's Prayer" in closing the business session. Games were played and prizes awarded. Door prize was drawn by Mrs. Harry Meisinger. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses. Circle III met at the church parlors with Mrs. Lester Mei singer, Mrs. Ed Tritsch and Miss Jean Meisinger hostesses. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Mrs. Freda Stibal. Mrs. Mike Kaffenberger gave the devotions. She spoke on World Day of Prayer." At the close of the business meeting, a game, "Bible Baseball" was played. Miss Jean Meisinger was the pitcher. Tables were cleverly decorated and arranged, carrying out the theme of Washington's birth day. Twelve members and one guest enjoyed the delicious re freshments served by the host esses. Hostesses for the March meet ing will be Mrs. Elsie McClintock, Mrs. Donald McClintock and Mrs. Joe Loner. Mr. and Mrs. John Lamphere of Lincoln were here over the week end as guests at the home cf Mr. and Mrs. George McFar land, parents of Mrs. Lamphere. February 12, 1052, at open house held in the parlors of the Meth odist church. About 225 guests registered during the afternoon and eve ning open house. Each registrant was acknowledged with a 50 yeor gold seal lapel ornament which was pinned to his cloth ing. The honored couple received j their guests in a typical living room setting, and with all the ; ease and informality which ac- companies greeting visitors in a home. The church basement was ar- . tistically arranged with refer- ! ence to both beauty and con- ( venience. The serving table was i spread with a white rayon silk- j striped cloth and centered with a three-tier wedding cake dec- i orated with gold cn white. At either side -of the cake were gold tapers placed in fancy crys tal Candelabra, comnlcte with crystal cut prisms that enhanced . their beauty. The long table at which guests were seated was festive with its ; white linen cloth, gold tapers in i crystal holders and beaitifuliy ! Cullom Extension Club Has March Of Dimes Party Cullom Extension Club held a March of Dimes Birthday party and Valentine party February 14 at the home of Mrs. Otto Pe tereit with Mrs. Marvin Petereit assistant hostess. President Mrs. Fred Wchrbein opened the meeting with all members repeating the flag sa lute and the "Lord's" Prayer.'' Singing was led by Mrs. Marvin Petereit. Fifteen members and two visitors. Mrs. Philip Born and Mrs. Franz Petereit. were present. A note irom Leo mon Lawson thanking the club for a gift was read. A report of Farm and Home Day was given and an nouncement was made oi Na tional Home Demonstration Week to be held April 27 to May 3. A favorable report was given on the bake sale held the previous Saturday. Mrs. Leonard Stothr presented the second portion of the lesson'. " Fabrics. Old and New." After the meeting, a surprise birthday party was held. Mrs. Wehrbein presented each mem ber with a gift, compliments of Feldhouscn and Schreiner Drug stores. A collection for the March cf Dimes was taken, amounting to $9.19. Valentines from secret pals were distrib uted. The next meeting will be held March 13 at the home of Mrs. Everett Parriott with Mrs. Gcr cld Keil assisting. Officers of the group are Mrs. Fred Wehrbein. president Mrs. Leonard Stcehr, vice president; Mrs. Ford Hcim, secretary treasurer: Mrs. Verner Meising er, publicity chairman; Mrs. Marvin Petereit, song leader; Mrs. Wilbur Means, legislative chairman, end Mrs. Everett Par riott; safety chairman. They were installed at a special cere mony in December. Catholic Daughters Have Party Tuesday Catholic Daughters held their monthly birthday party at the home of Mrs. E. J. Doodv last. Tuesday with a good attend ance. Prizes at cards were won by the following: Miss Helen Eitin?, bridge; Mrs. Josephine Ulrich, pinochle, and Mrs. Ernest Jan da. canasta. Refreshments were served. A buffet supper for over 60 relatives and friends was enjoyed in the church par lors between the hours of five Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard were j married February 12, 1902, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warner Salisbury of near Walton. They began their married career on a farm live miles north of Palmyra and six years later moved to the Eagle community where they farmed until their retirement sevrn years ago. The anniversary couple has five children, who with their families, were all present for the occasion. Their children are Claude, Harvey and Glendon Gerhard, all of Eagle, Mrs. J. Couple Celebrates I 59th Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. William Rum mel celebrated their 59th wed ding anniversary Saturday, Feb ruary 23, by having their daugh ter, Mrs. Florence Hall and hus band, Karry B. Hall of Lincoln, and sen, John Rumrnel and fam ily of Plattsmouth present. Also present were a grand daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Childress of Lincoln, and a grandson, Rich ard Rumrnel of Omaha. The couple also received many cards from their other sons and daughters in California, , and from relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Rumrnel were married February 23, 1893 by County Judge Ramsey at the Cass county courthouse. They have lived their entire married life in and near Plattsmouth, moving here from the farm now operated by their son, John MiMar Han! "knd- ! daughter at Chicago, who was unaole to be present, sent them a lovely cake marked "1893 to 1952." The cake was beautifully deccrated with red roses. The chapter has scheduled a backwards party at the school Monday night, February 25, at seven o'clock. jine Attend Goldenrod Club Meeting Recently Goldenrod Club mot at Myn ard Community Hall with Elsie Wiles. Marian Jacobs and Gwen Sullivan hostesses. The meeting was opened with group singing led. by Gertrude Barnard. Roil call was answered by nine members. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and Gwen Sullivan was elected secretary-treasurer pro-tern. The club voted to contribute to the collection for a present for Miss Schultz. Gwen Sullivan gave .the lesson and the group voted to send 'a card to Delia Wood ard. . Refreshments were served by the hostesses. DEMONSTRATION WILL BE HELD IN OUR DISPLAY ROOM 1th & Main Parent -Teacher Association To Observe Founders Day Tuesday night at Central school auditorium, members of the Plattsmouth Parent-Teachers Association will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the found ing of America's National Con gress of Parents and Teachers. Throughout the nation this month, over six million Ameri cans will attend similar PT-A meetings honoring the ever growing organization dedicated to educational welfare of the country's children. From a non-existent associa tion a month ago, the Platts mouth PT-A has grown to one of over 200 members. With ever increasing interest on the part of this group in both self-growth and Plattsmouth's childrens' educational welfare, the local group promises to be one of trie city s foremost public opinion civic "sounding board" or ganizations. Program for the 55th anniver sary of PT-A, or Founder's Day, promises to be of interest to members and the general public alike. Committee members re port that a special anniversary take will be featured as part of the r?frcshmcnts to be served following the evejag's program. A special invitation to citi zens attending poii.ijal caucus meetings Tuesday night is ex tended to join the PT-A unit during the refreshment period if unable to make the 7:30 to 9 p. m. business and program session. McMakens End Southern Trip Mr. and Mrs. Joseph McMaken are home from a short visit in the south where Mr. McMaken has extensive contracts. They spent a short time at Paducah, Ky., visiting friends and enjoy ing the springlike weather pre vailing. Flowers were blooming in that section of the south.
