Guests were from Murray, Otoe, Louisville, Plattsmouth and Nehawka. Sat urday afternoon Miss Jean Stone of Omaha entertained eighteen guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ches ter Stone, at a miscellaneous shower honoring Miss Knabe. rThe gifts were presented in a yellow and white umbrella, fa vors were small yellow and white umbrellas. Out of town guests included Mrs. Staples' mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Staples and his grandmother, Mrs. McConaha of Blair and Miss Knabe's grand mother, Mrs.; Ed Gansemer of Murray. Mrs. Harold Speakman of Nebraska City. Other guests were schoolmates of Miss Knabe. Miss Knabe and Mr. Staples will be married February 17. Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ross and daughters expect to move into their new home soon. It was built cn the site of the house that was destroyed by fire on January 1. Mr. and Mrs. George Lutz, Lawrence and Peter, Union; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sand and family, Lincoln, were dinner guests on Sunday at the F. O. Sand home. WHiawka Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Harry Metcalf of Lincoln announced the engage ment of their daughter, Beverly, td James H. Sturm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sturm of Ne hawka. Couple Observes 3rd Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson entertained at dinner Friday ev ening for Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Anderson, who observed their third wedding anniversary. In the ev ening, Mr. and Mrs. Eno Ahrens, Mr, and Mrs. Dick Berner and Linnea, Louisville; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Englekemeier of Mur ray joined them for cards. Nehawka Mr. and Mrs. Louie Ross left Tuesday morning to attend fun eral services for Mr. Ralph Stander at Wilsie, Kansas. Mr. Stander passed away at his home Monday. He is the brother-in-law of Mrs. Louie Ross, Dan Anderson and Albert An derson of Nehawka. Greenwood Family Honored At Dinner Recently Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles at tended a dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Kinney at the Wayne Kinney home. The dinner was in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Kinney and family who left for Winchester, Mass., Tuesday. Greenwood Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Green and children spent the week end at the Emil Meisinger home. A. L. Todd was a Sunday dinner guest also. Twin Table Club met Monday with Mrs. Ledra Reighard. Mrs. Marshall and Mrs. Carpenter were guests. Lloyd and Ralph Grady were in Lincoln Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Grady spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rosencrans and children. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Osburn visited Clyde Osburn at an Om aha hospital Sunday. Jackie Rosencrans spent two weeks with his grandparents while his mother was in the hos pital with the new baby. Kelvin and Rankine scales of temperature? j A: The Fahrenheit scale, com monly used in English-speaking countries, was intended to have the temperature of a mixture of ice and salt as zero, and that of the body as 96 degrees (though actually the normal body tempera-' ture is 98.6). The Centigrade scale,' also known by the. name of Celsius has as zero the freezing point of water, while the boiling point is 100 degrees. At 273 degrees below, zero C, or minus 460 F., all heat would be removed from an object, r and this is called absolute zero.' The Kelvin temperature (also called the Absolute temperature) is measured from absolute zero in Centigrade degrees, and is equal' to the Centigrade temperature plus 273. The Rankine temperature,' measured in Fahrenheit degrees from absolute zero, equals the tem perature' F. plus 460. There is also the Reaumur scale, in which zero is the same as the Centigrade zero, but the boiling point of water is 80 instead of 100. A tempera ture of 70 Fahrenheit is equal ap-' proximately "to 21 Centigrade, 17 Reaumur, 294 Kelvm and 530 Rankine. They all were guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vickers. Alvo Gun Club Holds Trophy Shoot The Alvo Gun Club held their trophy shoot Sunday, February 10 with a big crowd and a nice day to shoot. Shorty Fifer won the club trophy. He also won it last month. T. C. Robinson from Ashland won the open trophy. FAMILY LIKES SKUNKS Worcester, ms. (UP) Ar thur J. Brochu's family became so atached to a pet skunk they acquired two years ago they since have added two more to their household, all deodorized. One of the trio won the Natural History Museum's pet show and was rewarded with her favorite dishes, lice cream and jelly doughnuts.
