Both teams are strong con tenders for the conference championship. Coach Johnny Johnston's , crex fell behind in the first quarter and throughout the first i half was unable to keep up with ; the fast moving Murdock crew. ' Murdock moved out in front 13-10 at the end of one period and with Ronald Peters dunk ins nine points, roared into a 37-24 margin at the half. After an even third quarter which saw Elmwood cut the margin to 11 points. Coach Johnston's crew went to work. Dudley Doebele paced the final quarter rally with a 10 point barrage as Elmwood registered 13 points. In the meantime, Murdock hit consistently from the foul line to stay in front. Coach Gakemeier's crew ac tually wen the game from the free throw line with a miracu lous showing. Capitalizing on 25 free throw attempts, Murdock hit on 19 for an average of 78 per cent. Meanwhile Elmwood hit on only 9 of 21 for 43 per cent. Albert Thiel paced the win ners from the free throw line, hitting 8 out of nine, but yield ed scoring honors to his running mate, Ronald Peters. Peters had 20 points, including eight field goals and four of six free throws. Warren Wilken was close behind with 14. rudley Doebele gunned the Elmwood attack with a 20-point performance. Scoring Record In 64-28 Win Stanley Cole unleashed a tor rid 30-poir.t scoring spree to tie a school record and lead his mates to a 64-23 win over un dermanned Underwood here Monday. The outcome was never in doubt after Piattsmouth opened with an 18-point first quarter. Underwood did not hit that point until the end of the third period. Cole matched a scoring record of 30 points in a single game es tablished by his brother, Ster ling, set in 1945. Earlier this season Stan hit 29. Cole hit 14 ; points. BSue Devils Knocked From Elmwood Nips Conference Tourney 51-43 iNehawka 59-53 j In Loop Clash College View set the stage for a repeat performance of the 1951 season by dropping Piattsmouth from the East Seven Nebraska Conference toumev V7edr.?sday nieht with a 51-43 win. The win avenged an earlier conference loss to Piattsmouth and as a result, turned the tables around from a year ago. Last year the Blue Devils drop ped College View from the tour nament after losing a regular contest. The Viewmen succeeded in shackling Plattsmouth's Stan Cole, a 22-point per game scorer until the Wednesday night bat tle, when he was held to 7 field goals in tying the record. The Blue Devils were in front 23-13 at halftime and led 44 19 going into the final period. Reserves saw heavy duty dur ing much cf the game. Bob Wondra finally opened up with a 15 point scoring spree, his hiehest cf the season. Gene Gates and Fred Larkin were high for Underwood with six points each.
