L. Williams Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the First Methodist church for Martin L. Williams, who died suddenly Tuesday evening. Mr. Williams had spent most all of his life In this community, having come here as a very small boy. He was born in West Virginia and when he was called from this life he. was 79 years. 8 months and 20 days old. He was the last of a family of seven. He leaves his wife, Mary, and seven children, besides a host of friends and other relaties to mourn his loss. Mrs. Reichart Injured In Fall Mrs. Kathryn Reichart was injured in a fall at the Louis ville hotel Saturday morning. She was taken by the Stander ambulance to the University hospital after preliminary care here. Louisville ! Miss Gertrude Zastera arrived home early Sunday morning from New York City where she Is employed. Larry Brown is now back in Korea in the vicinity of Heart break Ridge. LOUtKVtllt Sgt. Mass Home From Alaska Sgt. Don Mass arrived home Monday from Alaska to enjoy Christmas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mass. Tennant visited at the John Ritter home Tuesday of last week. Louisville Richard Brown Receives Discharge Richard Brown telephoned his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown Sunday evening that he had received his discharge and expected to be home either Fri day or Saturday of this week. Richard has been in the army for 4 years. Pfc. Margarete Brand, who Is' stationed at McChord Field, Wash., is home for vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred' Brand. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Koop and Marilyn are expecting to spend Christmas with Mrs. Koop's' mother and other relatives at Seward. Louisville Man Freezes Ear Putting On Chains Tiny Nessen is suffering with a frozen left ear, which he got Tuesday morning. He was on his way to Papillion and got stuck in a snow drift and while putting on chains he froze his ear before he knew' it. Iau1vH1 Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gauer vis ited Sunday at the John Ritter home. Maurice Group injured three fingers in the corn picker last Thursday at the Elmer Johnson farm. Dean, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hlavoc has been on the sick list. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sprieck and family called at the Clar ence Sjogren home Tuesday eve ning. Marine Home For Christmas Cloydt Koop is home to spend Christmas with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Koop. Cloydt is in the marines and has just finished his boot training in California. He slipped and hit the cement and broke four front teeth, besides hurting his head. Dr. Snyder capped the teeth to ease the pain and then sent him to Oma ha to a specialist in such work. Mrs. Robert Brockley of Lin coln underwent surgery last week at the Bryan Memorial hospital In Lincoln. During her time in the hospital the baby stayed with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LaRue Williams. Andrew Jensen, who has been making his home at the Louis ville hotel for several months, was taken to the Methodist hos pital in Omaha Saturday. Louisville Oklahomans Are Visiting Parents Mrs. Dwane Ault and little son of Jones, Okla.. are here visiting at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry A Davis. Dwane will be here for Christmas to. To Spend Christmas At Zastera Home Mrs. Fred Rutt, Jr., Is expected to arrive in Grand Island from California this week, after going out there with her husband to find an apartment where the doctor Is stationed. She will stop first at the Rutt home In Hastings and then she and her infant daughter will come to Louisville to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Zastera. Louivtna Mrs. Clarence Sjogren and son and Marion Sutton called at the Elmer Sprieck home Sun day: Mrs. Christie Ritter and Mrs. Walter Ritter who had been vis itors at the Ritter home left Thursday for their homes in Wyoming. Mrs. Fred Linhardt entertain ed first by showine the novel Christmas things she had de vised. There was a red decorat ed little tree, a candy dog, and popcorn and red candy ring among the articles. She also presented the members with Christmas recipe books to be used all year, which had been kindly given by the Lincoln Gas Company. Mrs. C. Marshall, president. lead the lesson on n'The Old Fashioned Christmas:" She gave the story of the hymn, "Mv Faith Looks Uo to Thee" and it was sung. It is to be the Janu ary hvmn. She also told of her recent visit to Chicago when the Farm Bureau was in conven tion. She visited the merchan dise mart, second in size in U. S. only to the "Pentagon building. Each story is abounding in wholesale merchandise to be sold to retailers in twice a year selections. The ladies discussed the Christmas topic after she presented the lesson. Mrs. Hor ton s book talk was on The Other Wise Man." An offering of $5.40 was received lor Chll dren's Memorial - Hospital in Omaha. This was to be record ed on the secretary's minutes as a memorial for Mrs. Effie Ohm Elliott, al one time member. Six teen ladies braved the weather and enjoyed the social hour and refreshments of holiday ice cream, wafers and coffee. Storm Extends School Vacation Attend Graduation And Wedding Of Chicago Nephew Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross and Mrs. Ivan Hansen left Friday for Enid, Okla. Saturday morning they attended the air corp grad uation exercises. Stuart Wilson. Chicago, nephew of Mr. and Mrs. I Martin Ross, was a member of 'the class. Plattsmouth Transfer St. Nick's Spirit It Is thought that St. Nicholas died about 345 A.D., and for 30 days following his festival day his genial spirit roamed the earth, filling the hearts of mankind with love and generosity. He gave the gifts without thought of return the true spirit of St. Nicholas and Christmas. There was no school on Thursday on account of the storm and the operetta sched uled , for that night was post poned until sometime in Janu ary. There was. school Friday forenoon 'ahd .cafeteria dinner. Each department Jjeld their Christmas parties and gift ex change -in the morning and in the aiternoon school was dis missed until January 2nd. Kim wood Palmyra Couple Observe Golden County Receives 4-H Recreation Cash Award The Cass County 4-H Club committee were recipients of a $25.00 cash award earned by 4 H clubs in the county lor out standing work in rural arts and recreation, according to Clar ence senmaaeke. Tte money will be used in furhering the program in future years. One cr - tne ieatures oi tne 1951 program was the county 4 H camp held at Camp Harriet Harding west of Louisville last August 13. 14 and 15. A total of 87 campers attended. The program was educational as well as enjoyable. Eignt swimming classes were held during the three day period. Anniversary On Tuesday. December 18th, Mr. and Mrs. John Wilhelm and family attended the 50th wed ding anniversary celebration of his oarents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Wilhelm near Palmyra. There was open house from 2 to 5, and 7 to 9 p. m. Ice cream, cake and coffee were served to the guests. Four of the seven chil dren and their families were present and a goodly number of friends. TElmwoofl The school faculty enjoyed a Christmas party on Monday eve ning at the home of Principal and Mrs. Johnston. There was a gift exchange and a socla time. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Arnold moved on Tuesday to their home in Elmwood, coming from their larm. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pratt went to Crete one day last week to see his brother-in-law, Wm. Mc- Caughey, who had a severe case of a fractured hip and other In juries. He is employed at the Crete Mills and some falling timbers came down on him. At last report he Is coming all right at the hospital. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Robb are their son and family. Dr. and Mrs. John Robb of Indianapolis, Indiana. Mrs. Merlin Peterson is at home alter undergoing surgery recently. Water . Commissioner Dolor Swarts spent several days at home this . week . after injuring Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Ringler. Lincoln, were supper guests Sunday at the home of her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tyson. Mrs. Carl Dierking, Otoe, called at the Tyson home in the aft ernoon. Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Sand and Dorothy, Mrs. Blaine Sloan and Michael were dinner guests Sat urday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Will Ost and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Linsey and family, Un ion, were their dinner guests Sunday. George Poulos, Auburn, called to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos, Sr., Saturday afternoon. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. George Poulos, Jr., and daughter were guests for the day of Mr. and Mrs. George Kime. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Johnson and family, Talmage, Mr. and Mrs. Henning Johnson and Tom my visited with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ross at the latter's home Sunday evening. After spending a week at the F. O. Sand home Mrs. Blaine Sloan and Michael left Monday afternoon for Omaha to meet Mr. Sloan who arrived at the airport from Korea, where he worked with United Nations Re habilitation committee for the past ten months. They went from Omaha to Geneva to spend the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Porter Sloan.
