Attending church here and having Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Orval Miller and Jan ic were 'Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mil ler and Larry of .Syracuse, and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Klemme of Murdock. Miss Cora Marquez spent the week end at Lincoln and at York. She returned on Sunday night with Rev. and Mrs. Win ter. Elmwooa Obituary Of Edward Backemeyer Edward Backemeyer, 65, a for mer Elmwood resident, passed away in Lincoln after an illness of a few days. His home was in Fremont but he was visiting on Thanksgiving day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller when he suffered a heart attack. He was taken to Bryan hospital from there. He was graduated from Elm wood high school in 1904 when his father was a minister of the Evangelical church. Later he finished at Morningside College in Iowa. He was sales man ager for the Standard Chemical Co. and a member of the Meth odist church in Fremont, and of the Elmwood Masonic Order. He is survived by a brother, Dr. Fred Backemeyer of Iowa, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Baldwin of Denver, and other relatives, among them a sister-in-law, Mrs. Chris Backemeyer of Den ver. Funeral services were con ducted on Friday, December 7, at the Methodist church by Rev. Louise Ward and Rev. E. F. Haist. Helen Schneider and Opal Clements sang "Beyond the Sunset"' and "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love," accom panied by Marie Clements. In terment was in Elmwood ceme tery. K'mwnnd Mother Of Rev. Louise Ward Dies Rev. Louise Ward was called home on Saturday because of the passing away of her mother in Pittsburgh. On Sunday Rev. Jannen of Murdock preached at the Methodist church. Sunday School Classes To Lincoln On Sunday a project that had been planned for some time was retried out. Rpferal of the classes of the Methodist church school visited at Lincoln at the Sunday school of the Jewish South Street Temple. After the study work the president of the church board showed them around the nice building and explained the significance of the pictures and articles. The beautiful Ram's Horn was in teresting especially. They served light refreshments to the guests. Including some of the parents there were around 50 in the group. Teachers accompanying them were Richard Pratt. Mrs. Eveland, Dr. Totman, Mrs. El don Mendenhall, and Mrs. Har ry Krall. SO THAT WAS IT ELIZABETH. N. J. Albert Seamann, 94, hadn't been get ting around as spryly as he used to and he went to Elizabeth General hospital to find out why. Doctors found that he had been walking on a broken ankle for two weeks. STYLES CHANGE AND CHANGE GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Mrs. Donald Elliott spotted a new hat creation in a swank shop, went home and dug a 70-year-old number out of a trunk. She found it was back in style. Dorcas Society held their annual Christmas party Friday at a 6 o'tlock covered dish luncheon and an exchange of gifts. Gref-nwood Mrs. W. E. Johnston and baby left Friday morning by plane for Virginia Beach, Va., where Mr. Johnston is stationed with the U. S. navy. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Grady were in Lincoln Saturday.
