School started Monday at Dis trict 57 with the same teachers as last year, Mrs. Paul Camp bell and Mrs. Lawrence Sartin. Don Carnicle .of Strawberry Point, Iowa, visited last week at the J. L. Carnicle home. Sunday visitors at the J. L. Carnicle home were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carnicle and Mrs. Car nicle's mother from Glasgow, Mo. Tliy spent Sunday night and left for their home Mon day. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Knecht re turned home from a vacation trip to Minnesota and Canada the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Valgene Ewing and girls are visiting in Denver. Cclo., for a week with their grandmother. Linda Kuhn entertained 16 little folks Sunday in honor of her 14th birthday. Mrs. Jack Kuhn of Memphis had dinner Sunday with the GleiT Kuhn family. Mrs. Edward Kearns and children returned Saturday from Central City where she had visited relatives for two weeks. Week end callers at the Glen Thiessen home were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Barney and Bar bara of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lackey and sons of Fre mont, Mr. and Mrs. Pleas Proc tor and Pauline of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Rich ards of Lincoln brought Bev erly Richards home Sunday aft er a week's visit in Lincoln. Sandra Carnicle spent from Thursday until Saturday with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Morris at Ashland. Callers at the Larry Carnicle home this week were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carnicle and Mary, Don Carnicle of Strawberry Point, Ir.wa. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Carnicle and Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Morris. Mrs. Clyde Haswell and Mrs. Merre Swartz called on Mr. and Mrs.jJ. E. Carnicle Sunday aft ernotm. Loyd Carnicle was a week end guest at the J. L. Car nicle. home. Jerry Streight returned home fronr his vacation to Minnesota and Canada. Four Hogs Rate Five Awards For Ken Tschirren Four registered Duroc hogs yielded their owner four blue ribbons and a second place rib bon at the Cass county fair held at Weeping Water recently. Taking the honors was Ken neth Tschirren of Plattsmouth, j who showed the champion boar, best gilt, best litter, second best gilt and walked off with top honors for showmanship. A member of the Blue Ribbon Baby Beef and Swine club, Tschirren has entered his champion hogs in the state fair where he is now exhibiting his swine and displaying his own abilities. Emerson Wiles is leader of the Blue Ribbon Baby Beef and Swine club. At the state fair. Kenneth re ceived a red and white ribbon for his exhibits, in the Duroc! class. Services Are Held Last Sunday For Charles Foreman Alvo Special Funeral servi ces were held Sunday at Alvo for Charles Foreman of Phoenix, Arizona, who died in Arizona last week. He was 51 years old. A native of Alvo. he attenriprt school at Alvo and spent his i youth in Cass county. He has lived in Arizona for several , years. Surviving are four brothers. George of Alvo. Oris of North Hollywood. Calif., Joe of Los Angeles. Calif., and John of Ft. Collins. Colorado; three sisters. Mrs Minnie Whitman of Los Anseles, Mrs. Grace Thurreson of Riverside. Calif., and Mrs. Oral Hord of Alliance. Burial was in Alvo cemetery. George Minford On Kwajalein Island George M. Minford. son of Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Minford of Murrav is now stationed on Kwajelein Island in the Mar shall Islands. Georee is con nected with the United States Naval Air Service and his work is office work. He has his own private office and several men work under him. George was formerly stationed at Pearl Har bor and says when he went by plane from Honolulu to Kwaja lein, the trip took 12 hours.
