Todd Harrahs Have Week End Guests Guests at the Robert Harrah home over the week end were Mr. X.id Mrs. DeFreece and daughter. Lois of Grand Island, Who came on Saturday. On Sunday they joined Mr. and Mrs. James Rummels of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Drennan of Nebraska City for Sunday dinner in the Harrah home. TTnion Mrs. Esther Kidoo of Omaha spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Rogers. On Sun day Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Wagner and daughter of Ashland were, dinner guests of ' the Rogers family. T'niwn Union Schools Opened Monday Union schools opened last Monday and the lunch room served the first meal on Tues day. Twenty seven enrolled in the primary room with nine be ginners and Mrs. Mitchell Rich as teacher. Twenty-nine are enrolled in the intermediate room with Mrs. Ezra Albin as and .parents were in attendance. There was plenty of fried chick en and ice cream to add to the enjoyment of the outing. We were very glad to have our pas tor and his family with us that day. Union Legion Auxiliary Hears State Reports The American Legion Auxili ary held their regular meeting at the Legion hall on August 21. The hostesses were Mrs. Mary Gobelman and daughter Ann, Lily Stander and Emma Mere dith. State convention reports were given by Mrs. Hazel Wolfe, Mrs. Violet Attebery and Mrs. Mary Gobleman. It was voted to send $10.00 to the Kansas flood relief fund. Fifty per cent of the membership quota has been in for 1S52. The next meeting will be a membership tea to which all eligible women are invited. The j date is September 18. On Friday they drove to Memphis, Mo., to visit relatives. En route to Missouri they stopped at Centerville, la., to call on Mr. and Mrs. Al Bart 'ett. They report that Mr. Bartlett is in very poor health.
