Miss Betty Samson, Council Bluffs, was also a house guest at the Pollard home the past week. Mrs. Dan Anderson received word from Cook that Oarl Mei singer was taken to the hospital at Tecumseh Wednesday night. His case had not been diagnosed. Reunion Is First In 23 Years At a recent family reunion, Mrs. Bertie Hicks had the pleas ure of visiting with all her chil dren, the first time in 23 years. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Switzer and family were supper guests Fri day at the Melvin Martin home at Nebraska City. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence New man, Wendell and Janelle, Red Oak. Iowa, were dinner guests Sunday at the Wvildon Switzer home. Mrs. Switzer's father, Fred Beil, Plattsmouth, was their week end guest. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Ringler. Lincoln, were dinner guests Sunday at the John Tyson home. Afternoon callers were Mrs. Carl Dierking, Otoe; Irvin Rookstool, Weeping Water; Mrs. Malcolm Pollard, Marilyn and Lyle. Jack and Suzanne Miller left Friday for Denton, Nebr., to visit relatives. They visited Mrs. Mary Wessel the past week. Jack will return soon to Maryland to con tinue his college studies and Marilyn will spent some time at camps in the east. Mr. and Mrs. Arno Wessel, Omaha, were guests for the day Saturday of his mother, Mrs. Mary Wessel. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wolph visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Steffens at Lorton Sunday evening. Mrs. Steffens' condition is improved and she was able to go for a car ride Sunday. Scott Howard is the name of the son of Dr. and Mrs. Burnell Adams of Flint, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams are grand parents. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thiele, Plattsmouth, were guests for the day Monday of Mr. and Mrs. John Barkhurst and Fred C. Shomaker. Mr. Thiele's condi tion is improved following re cent surgery. Mrs. Stuart Schlichtemeier and Sue drove to Panama Sat urday to take her mother, Mrs. Violenta Conn to her home. U. B. churches. The school will be in session for two weeks from 9:00 to 11:30 each day. About 50 are enrolled. The teachers are Marjorie Whipple, Beverly Bonner, Mrs. Neil Pierce and Miss Bessie Murdoch. NVIiawka Former Nehawkans Are Parents Of Son Born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wiles of Grand Junction, Iowa, a son, Andrew Thomas, on July 9, 1951, at the Boone, Iowa, hos pital. Mrs. Wiles was the for mer Alice Wolph and both are former residents of Nehawka community. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiles, Og den. Iowa, and Mrs. Conant Wolph, Clarinda, Iowa. The grandparents were also former Nehawka residents. Mrs. Con ant Wolph and Blaine visited at the Wiles home Sunday. Her daughter, Mrs. Gene Maier,. re turned home with her after a two week's visit at the Wiles home. Lois Wolph remained to assist Mrs. Wiles when she re turns from the hospital. Nfhawka Harold Scharp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Scharp, recently found a weather balloon on their farm. The instruments were in very good condition and were sent according to directions to Joliet. 111. Nehawka celebrated the 4th with a street dance, softball games and a fireworks display. The Community Club operated a sandwich and pop stand and the Methodist Youth group served homemade ice cream and cake. Nehawka Miss Lindsey Gives Girls' State Report Miss Norma Lindsey gave a very interesting and.,, well pre pared account of her trip to Girl's State Tuesday afternoon at the meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary at the audi torium. The Auxiliary sponsored her trip. Having attended Boy's and Girl's County, Norma espe cially appreciated her trip. , Mrs. Martin Ross installed the new officers. President, Mrs. Stuart Schlichtemeier. and Vice President, Mrs. Melvin Sturm. Delegates were elected for the state convention in August. The hostesses. Mrs. Christina Chappell, Mrs. Gilbert Kime and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield, took their guests to Adams drug store for refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. John Bucholz and family called at the Frank Warden home Sunday evening. 4F - I., - I ' Mrs. Bessie Core J-oiusville Couple Returns From Brooklyn Dr. and Mrs. Fred Rutt, Jr., have returned to Nebraska from Brooklyn, New York, where they have been the past two years, while the doctor was complet ing a two year internship in the Kings County hospital. Dr. Rutt is now working on his residency at the University hospital in Omaha, but expects to be called to the army before long. IiOiiisvillB Final Rites Held For Mr. Peterson Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p. m. at the Methodist church for Al fred H. Peterson, who passed away at his home here early Saturday morning following a long illness that kept him in bed. Rev. W. M. Halstead con ducted the services. Mr. Peter son was past 75 years. I.ouisvlile An Omaha man caught about an 8 lb. bass during the 4th of July holiday. It is about the largest one caught from the lakes. Frank Tlustos leaves on his vacation Monday. He will visit his daughter. Mrs. Henry Her rold and family at Laurel, Nebr., and from there to Dallas, S. D., to visit relatives. Western Nebraskan Visits Relatives Louisville Nebr.. and his sister, Mrs. Ernest Usthol and Kathy were visiting at the Paul Mann, Howard Brunkow and Herman Dall homes at Manley and Wilbur Flemigs at Louisville last week. Herman Flemig has been transferred to Sidney from Osh kosh, Nebr., and his wife and baby were unable to come. He returned home Thursday. Louisville Emil Van Overbeck of Ke wanee, 111., is here spending part of his vacation - with his brother and family. He had al so visited at Beaver Creek and Grand Island. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Group and family left Sunday for Sacra mento, Calif., where they will spend their vacation with rela tives. Last Friday, a window pane from the Hon Variety store just seemed to fall out. as there wasn't much wind. Fortunately no one was hit. Mrs. Kenneth Heard, who was operated on last Friday is slow ly improving. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stohl mann and family left Tuesday for a two week's vacation trip to Idaho and Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Masters and family of Kansas City, Mo., came up and were guests of his sLster, Mrs. Clyde Ahl and fam ily over the holiday. Cpl. Raymond Maguire arriv ed Sunday to spend a few days with his wife and family. He expects to be stationed at Self ridge Field, Mich., so his family returned with him. Mr. and Mrs. A. Landgren en tertained at dinner Sunday in honor of the 21st birthday of Mrs. Donald Gottsch of Spring field. The family were all there. Mr. and Mrs. David Sjogren and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nes sen drove to Kansas City, Mo.. Sunday and spent a few hours with Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Frolich, who used to live here. The Eager family were all guests at the Art Masters home in Fremont Sunday in order to visit with relatives from Illinois. Mrs. Daisy McNealey has just returned from Long Beach, Calif., where she visited her son and family and also at the homes of the Deans. Louisville Rev. Halstead To Summer School Rev. W. M. Halstead expects to leave Sunday for Texas to attend a summer school course. He will have company as far as Oklahoma City as Bobby Da vis is going to visit his sister, Mrs. Dwane" Ault.
