After the lunch, the ladies visited the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Ingwerson. IT 'S BEEN A 1951 graduates The marriage of Mary Belle Shover. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Shover of Carlisle, Penn., and Larry L. Thimgan. son of Mrs. Martha Thimgan of Plattsmouth, was solemnized Saturday afternoon. May 12, 1951, in the First Evangelical United Brethren church of Carlisle. The bride was given in marriage by her father and the double ring ceremony was performed by the pastor, Rev. Joseph Miller, before an altar adorned with white flowers, palms and tall white candles. Ray Keeseck gave a recital of organ music before the cere mony and Mrs. Creigh Snyder, Jr., sang several traditional love songs. The bride's gown was of im ported chantilly lace with a mandarin style Jacket over a strapless bodice. Her fingertip length veil was of illusion edged with lace and was arranged with CALENDAR of matching flowers. The bridesmaids were Joanne Roney and Jaclyn Rynard. They wore mint green chantilly lace gowns with matching flower headdresses. They carried co lonial bouquets of kokomo and yellow carnations and yellow iris. The bridegroom was attended by Jerry Waites, Fort Devens, Mass.. best man; and the ushers were Ted Shover. brother of the bride, and Merrill Hubbert, her brother-in-law. The bride's mother chose an orchid butcher linen with nat ural linen accessories. She wore a corsage of tan symbidium or chids. Mrs. Martha Thimgan was unable to attend. WARRINGTON "COME -:- PRAY -:- SING Historical Society Hears Background Of Union Development UNION (Special) Cass County Historical Society met at the Baptist church in Union recently. Following a noon luncheon served by the ladies of the church, a program of Union history was given under the di rection of Mrs. Ray Frans. The early Union post office was started at the home of John E. Beatty in 1861 and its ram- blings around the countryside east of the present town until R. W. Frans became first post master in the village. The town received its name Irom the post office. The history of Union from 1887 to the present day was re viewed. Mrs. Charles Atterber ry told of its three churches, Methodist, Baptist and Cumber land Presbyterian, all with good buildings before 1890. A brief history of many Union citizens was given by Mrs. Eugene Rod dy. The program closed with a brief account of a nearby ghost town, Stringtown or Un ion Mills. Members attended from Elm wood. Weeping Water, Nehawka. Murray and Plattsmouth with one visitor each from Coli and Nebraska City. Frank Tooliff Tuesday when a group of friends gathered to celebrate the birthdays of Ber nard Meisinger and Mrs. Nellie Topliff. A delicious pot-luck dinner was served after which Will Nolte showed pictures of his trip through the South and Cuba. The remainder of the evening was spent playing games. Mrs. Kenneth Weaver and Mrs. Will Nolte won prizes. Gary and Darrell, and Miss Brown of Lincoln. The bride's parents and the groom's father were unable to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Brannan will live on Route 2, Lincoln. Steinkamp Family Settled In Texas Mrs. William Steinkamp, who joined her husband recently in San Antonio, Texas, writes her parents. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hiatt ithat they are nicely located and that Diane Kay and amy Lee are especially enjoying life in the deep south. She reports crops much advanced over this locality and that the children are watching with great antici pation the watermelons grow ing in their garden. SSgt. Department President Mrs. Gladys Yost will make her first visit to the Plattsmouth Auxili ary and it is hoped a large num ber of the members will be pres ent to greet the distinguished guest and enjoy the- program arranged by Mildred Hall. Flower Sale And Show Are Held By Garden. Club Monday Plattsmouth Garden Club met Monday afternoon at Platts mouth hotel. The meeting was opened with a plant sale, each member bringing plants, bulbs and seeds to be sold. Some love ly flower arrangements were al so displayed. A short business meeting was held with the club voting to at tend a joint meeting with the Ralston club, which is coming to Plattsmouth to visit the Blue Star Memorial. Mrs. L. Hansen extended an invitation for all members to! come to her home for refresh ments and a social meeting with! the Ralston Club. Mrs. Hansen, also gave a short review of the ; district club meeting held in Omaha April 18. j Hostesses were Mrs. McMaken, Mrs. Frey and Mrs. Fricke. The flower committee was Mrs. Niel sen, Mrs. Keller, Mrs. Janda, Mrs. McFetridge, Mrs. Propst, Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Furse, Mrs. Cognac, Mrs. Chriswiser and Mrs. Hansen. Visit Sgt. Ault At Kansas Base Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Vroman. Mrs. Charles Eugene Ault and son, Charles III, with Mrs. El don Vroman, were at Topeka, Kansas, Tuesday visiting at Forbes Field air base. They were guests of SSgt. Charles Ault, who is stationed at that place. Seven Brothers And I Sisters Enjoy Family Reunion Sunday Fifty-six descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Perry, pioneer residents of Eight Mile Grove, were reunited at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cook near Elmwood Sun day. Seven surviving children were among the 56 assembled for the reunion, first in many years. They are Walter Perry, Orange, Calif.: Mrs. Lenora Cook. Elm- wood; Mrs. Ethel Spangler, Murray; Charles Perry, Lincoln; Mrs. Pearl Umland, Alhambra, Calif.: Mrs. Katherine Cole, Brule, and Vern Perry, Big Serines. A basket dinner was served on the lawn at the Cook home Following the dinner family members reminisced. Pictures of the group were taken. Others attending were Mrs Leo Douglas of Anaheim, Calif., and Mr. Umland, Mr. and Mrs William Cummings and daugh ter, Ellen Marie of Perry, la.; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Spangler of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Perry and daughters, Elizabeth and Nancy, and Mrs. Addie Per ry of Plattsmouth; Mr. and Mrs C. Picnic Honors Kerns Family Sgt. and Mrs. Mike Kerns and Patricia Ann left Monday night for their home m Oceanside, Calif. Sgt. Kerns is stationed at Camp Pendelton marine base. They have been here on a ten day leave visiting relatives and friends, being guests at the home of the mother of Mrs. Kerns, Mrs. E. A. Cadwell. Sunday the Kerns family were guests at a picnic in the city park. Those attending were Sgt. and Mrs. Kerns and Patty Ann, Mrs. Ida Cadwell and Lar ry Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Cadwell, Bellevue, Neb., Mr. and Mrs. DeForest Perry and Mr. and Mrs. Don Warga. Eugene Muenchaus Adopt Infant Son Master Sergeant and Mrs. Eu gene F. Muenchau announce the adoption of a boy, Eugene F., Jr., age nine months. MSgt. Muenchau is stationed in Washington, D. C, and is as signed to headquarters, United States Air Force. He is in charge of a unit engaged in compiling and presenting sta tistical data to congress, defense department, and the department of the air force. Ravenna Couple Visits Relatives Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crate of Ravenna arrived in Platts mouth Tuesday for a short visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Figgins. Mr. Crate is a brother of Mrs. Figgins. Mrs. Harry Mitchell Is Visiting Here Mrs. Harry Mitchell of Pitts burg, Kansas, is visiting at the home of her son, Lester Gay lord and Mrs. Gaylord. Mrs. Snell is enjoying a five week's vacation from her duties at the Rapid City Air Base, two of which she spent with her husband in Washington, D. C, where he was called for duty with the naval reserve. On their return from Washington Com mander Snell went back to Rapid City while Mrs. Snell re mained for a longer visit with the relatives and friends.
