L nioa Poppy Contest Winners Named ' The final results of the Poppy Poster Contest was as follows: Class I Edward Janssen. Jr. Factory ville School. 1st: Betty Lou True. Union. 2nd: Teddy Brannon. Union. 3rd. . Class II Nola Keene. Union. 1st: Ronnie Meade. Union. 2nd: Myrna Wolfe. Union. 3rd. Union Mr. and Mrs. Lester Waldo were In Omaha on business last Wednesday. Mrs. Charles Attebery. Mrs. Jesse Dysart and Mrs. Todd made a hurried trip to Nebraska City, late Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Elmer Patterson enter tained a few of her friends at a Stanley Party on last Thurs day mornins at 9:30 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cross trans ferred their church member ship from Colorado to Union. Methodist and were received into the church last Sunday. Sunday dinner guests on May 6th at the Ben Neil home were Dean Strader. Mr. and Mrs. John Palmer and son John of Omaha and Clifford Rogers. Bonnie Baker and Clifford Rogers have been awarded the Babe Ruth awards for out standing sportsmanship and scholastic standing. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson and granddaughter Barbara An derson of Plattsmouth. drove to Hiawatha. Kansas last Sunday where they spent the day vis iting some cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Hoy Anderson. and Mrs. Eda Greene and her family. Union Church Board Meets Sunday The official board of the Methodist church met with their Dastor last Sunday evening at the church. Plans and reports were discussed, so all reports will be ready for the last auar terlv conference which will be held at the church on Friday evening. May 18th. Union Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd. Nancy Kay and Melvin Jr. drove to Union last Sunday and took Mrs. Todd to Omaha with them for a Mother's Dav dinner and the rest of the afternoon was soent driving over the city and countryside, which was very beautiful with spring blossoms. Nell Bramblet. had the mis fortune to fall from a step-ladder last week, and hurt her back quite badly. Union Union School Picnic Is Held Union schools closed with their annual picnic in the city park last Friday. Mr. Snodgrass and Mr. Morris each furnished five gallons of ice cream. Union Basket Dinner Honors Family A basket dinner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Char les Meredith last Sunday, hon oring their sons and families. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Meredith and family of Marshall. 111., and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Meredith of Escondido. California and Mrs. Ralph Meredith's mother. Mrs. Lou Allen of Salt Lake City. Utah. The day was spent visit ing. Those attending were Mrs. Anna Wurtele and Marie. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wurtele. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wurtele. Mr. and Mrs. John Wurtele and Maxine. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wurtele.
