Mrs. Hopkins Will Visit Children Mrs. Benjamin Hopkins, Sr., departed today .Thursday for the west coast where she will visit her children. Lloyd McKenna Spends Week End Here With Family Cpl. Lloyd McKenna visited over the week end with Mrs. McKenna and their two sons and other relatives and friends in Plattsmouth. Cpl. McKenna, who is stationed at Fort Leon ard Wood, Mo., works as me chanic on diesel machinery. Californians Are Guests Of Alwins Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Jackson of Wilmington, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Maxon, who have been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Alwin left Wednes day morning for their homes. Mrs. Maxon, a niece of Mrs. Ahvin. came last Tuesday from her home at San Gabriel, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson arrived Saturday. Mrs. Jackson was formerly Mae Kuhney, one time resident of Plattsmouth. Gold Star Mothers Will Be Honored The American Legion Auxili ary will have their annual Gold Star tea at Hotel Coffee Shop Tuesday, May 15 at 8 p. m. The tea will honor all gold star mem bers. In Black, Navy, col ors, and White. $5.98 Gift Wrapped Free! kd J . - Junior, Senior Have Banquet The May day theme was beau- tifully carried out in the decor ations for the joint banquet of the Junior-Senior Women's clubs of Plattsmouth held in the Fellowship room of the Presby terian church Monday evening, May 7. A large number of mem bers of both clubs and many guests attended. Mrs. Orville Enteman, state chairman of drama and literature N. F. W. C, and Mrs. Fred Jensen, state treasurer of Omaha, were in at tendance. Large baskets of spring flow ers were placed about the ban quet room and blossoms were also used as centerpieces for the dining tables. Miniature may poles with pastel ribbons were on each table. These were the work of Mr. R. B. Keller. Small co lonial ladies, complete with gay bouffant costumes and powdered hair, further carried out the decorative motif. Hand painted programs, the artistic work of Pat Chriswiser, retiring vice- president of the Junior club, marKea eacn place. An arrange ment of vari-colored tulips cen tered the speakers table at which were seated the retiring and newly elected officers of both clubs as well as distinguish ed guests and program partici pants. A large Maypole with pink and green streamers was in the center of the room. The social committee of the Senior club was in charge of the dec orations. Mrs. Louis Hansen, chairman, assisted by Mrs. W. F. Evers, Mrs. G. G. Griffin, Mrs. C. A. Ruse, Mrs. Fred Lugsch. Mrs. J. G. McMaken and Mrs. Henry Donat spared no effort on this feature. The program was planned and arranged by Junior club members. Mrs. Phyllis Young, chairman. Other "mem bers of her committee were Mrs. Helen Rosborough, co-chairman, Mrs. Faith Friest, Mrs. Mary Keeley, Mrs. Shirley Mayabb, Mrs. Vera Warga and Mrs. Ruth Ann Davenport. Mrs. Philip Hirz, who is clos ing a two year regime as Senior club president, opened the ban quet and extended the welcome. Mrs. Phyllis Young, president elect of the Jun:ors, presided as Toastmistress. Mrs. WT. F. Evers gave the devotionals. Six pupiis of Mrs. Jean Lockin Sharon Harms, Nancy Hirz. Nancy Bulin, Valerie Gorton. Zandra Nielsen and Reeda Taylor, gowned in summer pastels, danced around the Maypole, with Mrs. Juanita Brendel at the piano. This fea ture was under direction of Miss Viola Miller. Mrs. Sylvia Flynn of Bellevue sang a refrain from The Chocolate Soldier, Italian Street Song and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes. Mrs. Juanita Bren del served as accompanist. Mrs. Orville Enteman delight- i ed the group with her readings, j She gave "It-Gives Me Great I Pleasure," a new story by Emily j Kimbrow. and a very modern j version of Hamlet. Kay Casey j and Wayne Lewis, advanced j pupils of Jean Lockin, gavq an ' Marie Elena Lavie Lucca And Donald Nelson Are Married Marie Elena Lavie Lucca and Donald Albert Nelson were mar ried at Caracas. Venezuela re cently in the Church of Saint John the Baptist conducted by Monsenor Feo. Miss Lucca is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henrique Lavie of Caracas, and Mr. Nelson the son of Mrs. Selma Nelson of Mur ray. The church was adorned with calla lilies and lilies of the valley and was illuminated by candle light. Organ music was played by Esteban Nada;5. The bride s gown was a Pari sian creation of silver brocade. The headdress and veil were sent from Italy. Maids of honor, in white or gandy gowns designed by the bride were her sister. Luisa Mer cedes and Ines Lavie Lucca,- along with cousins Esther Luisa! Lavie Betancouit and Marilyn' Lavie Garcia. Wedding rings were carried by Alberto and Jose j Lucca Franchesohi, cousins of the bride. After the ceremony the bride and groom were honored at a reception at the home of the bride's Darents. The upririinfr cake, composed of three sepa rate parts joined by iced sprays oi iiowers, was prepared oy an aunt oi tne bride. The newlvweds rirnvo t.n n mountain retreat, for a few ri.ivs prior to leaving the country for Mexico and tne united states, where they are viisting the fam ily or tne groom. Mrs. Nelson, a prize winning artist, plans to continue her studies in preparation for a spe cial concert in tne rail. She studied last vear at the Acadamvl Julian of Paris. Mr. Nelson is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, and a veteran of World War II. Since 1948 he has been employed by the Texas Petroleum Company at Caracas as field auditor for the Venezuelan Division. The couple expect to make their home in Caracas. Entertain Parents Prom Creston, Iowa Attorney Florence A. Fouchek and Miss Loris B. Long enter tained Miss Fouchek's parents at their home at 421 Ave B the past couple of days. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Woman's Club Monday Night Exhibition Waltz number with Mrs. Betty Bashus at the piano and Darfny Lockin singing the vocal accompaniment. Mrs. Dee Nielsen, retiring president of the Junior club, presented her officers. Mrs. Pat Chriswiser, Mrs. Lorraine Ash baugh, Mrs. Marjorie Amato and expressed appreciation and thanks to the chairmen of com mittees and members for the cooperation she had received during the year. She presented them with gardenia corsages. The retiring officers also were given gifts from the club. Mrs. Philip Hirz voiced her appreciation and thanks to her officers and chairmen of com mittees who had worked with her during her period of service and presented them with cor sages of sweet peas. Her officers were Mrs. Al Nierste, Mrs. Phil ion Rihn. Mrs. Glen Vallery, Mrs. A. W. Propst. Mrs. Young pinned the past presidents pin on Mrs. Hirz in behalf of the Senior club. Mrs. Nielsen re ceived her past president's pin from Mrs. Young for the Junior club and both ladies graciously responded. Mrs. L. B. Dalton, on behalf of both clubs, presented Mrs. Esther Donat, Cass county pres ident, with a scarf which clubs from each state are purchasing; the proceeds from sale of these scarfs go to a fund for furnish ing radio sets for foreign coun tries, furthering the broadcast ing programs of the Voice of America. Nebraska's donation of a radio is to go to Iran. Mrs. Donat accepted the gift with expression of appreciation at being so honored. The menu, prepared by the ladies of the Federation was served by the younger girls of the church. It was chicken en rosettes, mashed potatoes, gravy, spring salad, peas and carrots, buttered rolls and jelly, ice cream, fancy cakes and coffee. The banquet closed with in stallation of new officers of both clubs. Miss Wilhelmina Hen ricksen, a past president of the Junior club presented the offi cers for her club, and Mrs. L. B. Dalton those for the Seniors. Mrs. Dalton, district vice presi dent, gave the installation serv ice to the following: Juniors Mrs. Phyllis Young, president; Mrs. Lila Ortize, vice president; Miss Katherine Parkening, treasurer; Mrs. Marjorie Amato, secretary. For the Seniors Mrs. R. B. Keller, president; Mrs. A. Nierste, vice president; Mrs. Glen Vallery, correspond ing secretary; Mrs. Henry Donat, recording secretary, and Mrs. A. W. Propst, treasurer. Mrs. Young and Mrs. Keller each received a president's pin. A recording, "The End of a Perfect Day," by Orville Nielsen, came as a fitting close to the evening and the year's work cf both clubs. John Wargas Here From Illinois Mr. and Mrs. John Warga and sons, John and Reggie, of Jacksonville. Illinois, were here this week, visitine with relatives and old friends. Mr. Warga at tended the twenty-fifth anni versary of his class at Creigh ton University. Omaha. Mr. Warga i is operating the Walgreen agency at Jackson ville and has one of the largest stores in that section of Illinois. While here Mr. and Mrs. Warga and family were guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Nowacek, Mr. and Mrs. James Warga and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warga and family and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Warga and family. All mem bers wishing transportation met at the Plattsmouth Hotel at 11 o'clock. 2t Thirty Attend Hebekah District Meeting At Omaha The lodges in Dist. No. 2, comprising nine Omaha Rebek ah lodges and Bud of Promise Rebekah lodge of Plattsmouth held their annual meeting at the Rome hotel in Omaha on May 4. Mable Goldsmith, president frota Rcwal Elite No. 400 pre sided. The morning session opened at 9 a. m. Willa Rice from Bud of Prom ise served as treasurer and Elva Aylor as outside guardian. Bud of Promise had the me morial service which was held at 7 p. m. Twenty-eight sisters from the local lodge participated in this memorial. The captain, Freda Stibal, and her assistant, Irma Johnson, were both very proud of the wonderful perform ance of the sisters. Twenty Theta Rho girls of Plattsmouth gave a very well exerted drill at the close of the afternoon session. Some 310 Re bekah sisters were registered for the one day session. Esther Bentley of Alpha Rebekah Lodge No. 44 was elected president for the 1952 session. Betty Reno of Plattsmouth was aDDOinted conductor of the dis trict and maxine Yelick was ap- pointed page. Burbee Mr. and Mrs. Emil J. Mei- singer of Greenwood announce j the marriage of their daughter, Vivian, to Wendell E. Burbee, son of W. B. Burbee of Union, Saturday, May 5, at 4 p. m. Rev. Mullen officiated at the double ring ceremony held at the Baptist church at Nebras ka City. The bride wore a navy blue dress with navy blue and white accessories. Her corsage was of pink tea rose buds and white stephanotis. Miss Betty Wolfe, bridesmaid, wore a navy blue dress with navy and white accessories. Mrs. Burbee graduated from Greenwood high school and at tended the University v of Ne braska. She taught school at Union and Avoca. At present she is employed at the Barron Co., Inc., of Omaha. The occasion was the annual Junior and Senior banquet held Saturday night at the Central building auditorium. The dinner was nreoared by mothers of the juniors.
