The village clerk was instruct ed to notify dealers regarding' new legislation on the sale of fireworks in Nebraska. The contract of the Harry Rath Co. for the painting of the water tower was accepted. The election returns were can vassed and the following can didates were declared elected to their respective offices: Village Board: Dick Trutna, O. B. Lupardus, Chas. I. Long. School Board: Wm. Topple From Truck Loaves of bread were con spicuously scattered throughout the intersection of 5th and Main streets early Saturday morning when several boxes tumbled from atop one of the bread trucks, regularly stopping in Plattsmouth. Most of the loaves remained secure in the boxes, but a few dotted the intersection in brightly contrasting colors. Warga Girls Jake Honors At Meet The Mid West A.A.U. Cham pionship indoor meet was held at Sioux Falls. S.D.. Saturday, April 14. closing: the- indoor swim meets for this season. Omaha was represented by 25 J.C.C. swimmers of which Mar ilyn and Maybelle Warga. are members. COach Bill O'Hearn left with the team for Sioux Falls. S.D , Saturday morning, returning Sunday afternoon. Mavbelle Warga. swimming in the girls novice class won first place in the . 75 yd. Individual Medley and she won fourth place in the 150 yd. Medley Re lay. Marilyn Warga. now swim ming in the Senior Women's division won third place in the 120 yd. individual medley. J. L. Carnicle, prominent res ident of the South Bend com munity, with his son, Tom, were in the city today to attend to some matters at the office of County Assessor W. H. Puis. Final Rites Are Held Monday For George Weidman Last rites for George E. Weid man. 70, were held at Sattler Funeral Chapel. Monday. April 16. with Rev. A. Matzner offic iating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs. Don McClintock sang, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Ferdinand Nolte. Pallbearers were Paul Barker. Harold Croskary. Bronson Timm. Don Clemons. George Weidman and William Bruhl. Mr. Weidman died Thursday morning. April 12, after an ill ness 'of several months. A native of Plattsmouth. he was born December 20. 1880. He was educated in Plattsmouth and for many years was employ ed by the Burlington railroad. In recent years he was with Norfolk Packing Co. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangel ical and Reformed church and the Elks lodge. Surviving are his widow. Hul da. five sisters. Mrs. Elizabeth Kroehler of Havelock: Mrs. Mary Ebinger. Mrs. Anna Wag ner, of Plainview: Mrs. Ida R. Blish of Athens. Penna.: and ! Mrs. Frances Jean of Donna. ! Texas. Two brothers and his parents preceded him in death. Staff Sergeant Charles Eugene Ault and Cpl. Russell Nielsen, who are stationed at Topeka. Kansas, at the air base, were home for the week end on leave. ! Taylor .Wednesday Saturday evening a farewell surprise party was tendered Gerald E. Taylor, who is leav ing Wednesday for the west coast. Mr. Taylor, a naval re servist, has been called to active duty. The party was held at Hol man's, north of this city and at tended by a group of relatives and friends. Mr. Taylor was presented with a gift by the friends. Later the members of the group were entertained at the Taylor home at luncheon. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. James Quinnett, Mr. and Mrs. William Haldman, Hillard Speck, Howard Taylor, Rose Sunear, Omaha; Sgt. and Mrs. Joe Howe, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Boshear of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Taylor.
