The officers entertained the supervisor, Mrs. Leon Spencer of Myrtle Chapter. Lincoln, at din ner at the Honor cafe. The initiatory work was ex emplified at the evening meet incr. About 80 members attended. Dick Quinnett Is Here From Virginia Dick Quinnett. son of Mr. and Mrs. James Quinnett of this city, arrived home Friday morn ing for a leave with old friends. Dick is in the U. S. navy and has recently been transferred to Norfolk, Virginia, from Great Lakes where he received his boot training. He is taking sp2 cial training as a radio opera tor. James Quinnett, Jr., older brother of Dick, has returned to active service in Korea after a sick leave in Japan. Cass Homemakers, Cooks, and Canners Have Joint Meeting The Cass County Homemakers met in a joint meeting with the Cass County Cooks, Cass County Canners and the Modem Miss 4-H clubs at the Nehawka school, March 20. Kearns Post 56 held their regular meeting Thursday afternoon in the lounge of the 40 & 8 club rooms, Dorothy Janecek. president, pre siding over the meeting in the absence of the secretary, Alice Jayne Grosshans. Vera Warga was appointed secretary pro tern. Reports were given by the various committees. Child Wel fare, SoDhia Wolever. April is child welfare month so a child welfare program Is being pre pared. This should be of inter est to all auxiliary and post members. Membersmp, Be Brothers. Several new members. Old mem bers were urged to pay their dues. Sick committee, Emma McClure reported having sent sympathy and get well cards to members. Agnes Walling, aux iliary member and Chapeau of the 8 & 40 was introduced and explained the process of having your chest X-rayed. This takes just 1 minute and can detect a slight heart ailment and first stages of cancer. Members of the Legion Auxiliary and 8 & 40 are acting as clerks and hostess for the people taking the x-ray. One hundred and fifteen , peo pie were processed the first day and Mrs. Walling urged every Miss Janice Joyce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Kivett of. Weeping Water, Nebr., was mar ried to Andrew J. E. Grausr, son of Andrew J. Grauer of Marys ville, Kansas, March 18, 1951, at 4 p. m. in Weeping Water before some 250 guests. - Rev. E. J. Bowers of the Evan gelical church ' at Marysville, Kansas, officiated at the can dlelight formal ceremony before an altar decorated with seven branch candelabra and baskets of yellow and white gladioli .flanked by greenery. Miss .Jane Lorenson, weeping Water, was soloist and Mrs. S. H. Harmon, also of Weeping Wa ter, was organist. Candlclighters for the service were Charlene Johnson, Ralston, Nebr., and Barbara Lee Colbert, Falls City, Nebr. They were at tired m white robes. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride was gowned in white satin with princess lines, tieht fittine sleeves comine to points at the wrists, buttons down theback to the waist, a pointed stand-up collar, and a long train. Her headdress was a small satin cap with double il lusion fingertip veil. Both gown and cap were made by the grandmother of the bride, Mrs. i T. E. Colbert of Weeping Water. Miss Joyce carried a shower bouquet of white roses. She wore a double, strand pearl 1st. Paul's Circles Have Afternoon ..' Meetings Tuesday Cirples of the St. Paul's Evan gelical & Reformed Women's Guild held their, regular meet ings on Tuesday, March 20. , Circle I met at the home "of Mrs. Fred Haffke, with Mrs. El mer Haffke and Mrs. Olga Storm as associate hostesses. The meeting was called to order by the chairman, Mrs. Fred Lugsch. Mrs. Otto Pitz gave the devotions, , her topic was "The Holy Week." At the close of the general business discussion- the meeting was adjourned. Games were then enjoyed with prizes being awarded to the winners. Refreshments were served to 15 members and four visitors. This was enjoyed by alL The host esses for. the next meeting are Mrs. Fred Lugsch, , Mrs. Alvin Meisinger and Mrs. Anna Mei- singer. Circle II met at the home of Mrs. Fred Buechler ' with Mrs. John Parkenihg and Miss Helen Horn as co-hostesses. The meeting was called to or der by the chairman,' Mrs. Ver- ner Kanenberger. After- the general business routine, Mrs. Philip Meisinger gave the devo tions. Her topic was "The Len ten Season." Meeting was closed by all repeating the Lord's Prayer. - "Refreshments carried out the Easter motif and was enjoyed by 17 members and four visitors. ' The next meeting to be held at - the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Engelkemeier with Miss Amelia' Martens as co- hostess. . Circle III met at the home of Mrs. Sanf ord Short with Mrs. Elsie McClintock and -Mrs. Joe Loper as co-hostesses. The meet ing was called to order by the chairman, Mr$. Fred Kaffen berger. The devotions were given by Miss Sophia Kreager. Her theme was "Easter." After the conclusion of regular busi ness all joined in repeating the Lord's Prayer. Meeting was ad journed and games were played with the winners receving prizes for their skill. Delicious refreshments were served to 16 members and five visitors: The next meeting is to be held at the country home of Mrs. Mike Kaffenberger (weather permitting), with Mrs. Fred Kaffenberger as co-hostess. Vera Warga reported the farewell party for the Vets a success and thanked all those that helped in any way. Letters were read from Ken neth S. Wherry, U. S. senator from Nebraska, also Howard Buffett, representative from Ne braska. Each letter was in reply to letters sent from the unit backing universal military training. Mr. Buffett stated he i was against the bill and Mr. Wherry for the bill. The unit voted to send $5 to the Red Cross. Once again it is time to start thinking about a candidate for Girls State. The unit voted to ask another veteran's organiza tion to act as this girl. In the drawing the name of Margaret Rusk was called. She was absent. Last month the names of Mrs: Hirz and Mrs. Vroman were omitted from the serving com mittee. The publicity chairman i3 sorry for this oversight.
