HIE PLATTSMOUTII JOURNAL PAGE EIGHT Thursday, March 15, 1951 Imwjiwd Mrs. Gne Plybon Mrs. Emmett Cook and Mrs. Guy Clements attended the state convention of the W. S. C. S. at Lincoln on Friday for the second day. Mrs. Jennie Tyson passed away at her home on Saturday evening, March 10th. The Easter cantata by the Un ion choir of three churches is to be given Palm Sunday eve ning at the Methodist church. Miss Roberta Jackman of Nor folk, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Everett Jackman, is now doing social service work at Wesley House in Oklahoma City. Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Cook at tended a district Sunday school teachers meeting at Waverly on Sunday afternoon, March 4th. The subject studied was teach ing adult classes. Wm. Minford, a resident of years ago, and a land owner near here passed away recent ly. His funeral was held at Lincoln Tuesday afternoon. Supt. Colon was HI last week and Coach Johnston assumed his duties for the time. School was dismissed on Monday be cause of the storm and road conditions. Mrs. Ed James had a nice little vacation last week. On Wednesday she went to Lincoln and visited at the homes of her daughter, Mrs. Bill Trunkenbolz and of her grandson, Ted and his family. On Thursday she attended the W. S. C. S. con vention sessions and the large banquet at Cotner Terrace that evening. She also heard Mrs. Mead of Omaha, a state officer, and an excellent speaker. Mrs James came home on Friday morning. Mrs. Blanche Kuehn is getting along well after having a ton silectomy on Friday. Dr. and Mrs. O. E. Liston have returned from their southern trip and are both busy again here. Mrs. Howard Liston fell re cently on her way to the tele phone and broke bones in two of her toes'. Saturday was an icy day but the ladies of the W. S. C. S. did well at the food and lunch sale at the Bornemeier Transfer of fice.' They plan to have anoth er sale first Saturday in April. Saturday morning Mrs. Moh ler fell on the ice on her back porch about 8 a on. She man aged to drag herself in, but was alone until around 2 p. m. when help came and she was taken to Dr. Liston's office, then on to Bryan Memorial. Her daughter lives in California and her son in Otoe county. R. M. Dennis and family en joyed having his three sisters here from Thursday until Sun day of this week. They are Mrs. George Moore of DeWitt, Arkan sas, Mrs. Clarence Weatherfield of Milan, Mo., and Mrs. Bernice Bridgmon of Portland, Oregon. It was the first time in 25 years that the sisters had all been together. tjh&stnwDod Connie Osburn Journal Correspondent Mr. and Mrs. Ross Casey and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gustafson were shopping in Lincoln Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Raasch and Wayne spent Tuesday eve ning with Mr. and Mrs. John Meyers. The L. C. C. club met with Mrs. Francis Vant in Lincoln Thursday. John Mick spent Sunday in Lincoln with his grandson, Mel vin Hughes and celebrated his 83rd birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Osburn and family spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Grady and Glenda in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wright were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Meyers. Bobby Buckingham spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Benny Buckingham and baby in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bergers and children spent the week end at the D. E. Buckingham home. DIRECT APPEAL Oxford's fire department, currently conducting a drive for funds, parked its first aid unit on main street for one day and put a sign in the cab window reading: "We still need $300."
