Sunday dinner guests at the Bernard Grady home were Mr. and Mrs. Buzzy Gakemeir, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rosencrans and Jackie and Mr. and Mrs. John Grady and Colleen. Ronald Osburn spent the week end at Surprise, Nebr., with Mr. Way. Christmas day guests at the Emil Meisinger home were Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Todd, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Todd and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Leesley and Children, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Green and sons, Miss Vivian Meisinger and Rose Fallansbee. Mr. and Mrs. John Meyers were Lincoln shoppers Wednes day. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Green and sons of Omaha spent Fri day at the Emil Meisinger home. Garry and Douglas remained to spend their vacations with their grandparents and Judy and J. T. Leesley are also visiting there while their parents are moving. New Year's day guests at the Bernard Grady home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Knecht and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rosencrans ard Jackie. Rose Fallansbee of Omaha spent last week at the Emil Mei singer home. Mrs. M. P. Ryan has been quite ill for several days but is some improved now. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Meyers spent Wednesday afternoon at the Claude Osburn home. Mrs. Lottie Knecht, Mrs. Marie Grady, Mrs. Ella Grady, Mrs. Wm. Rosencrans and Mrs. Buzzy Gakemeir were Lincoln shoppers Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meisinger, Margaret and Virginia Cameron, Gary and Douglas Green and Judy and J. T. Leesley spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Leesley. Miss Doris Lee entertained at a watch party New Year's Eve. There was a large group pres ent and everyone had a good time. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meisinger, Margaret and Virginia Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Green and sons. Miss Vivian Meisinger and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Leesley and children were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Meisinger at Plattsmouth. Benny Buckingham, Mrs. Claude Osburn and Connie called on Mrs. Buckingham and the new baby at the hospital Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Benny Bucking ham are the parents of a baby boy born Friday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He has been named Bradley Eugene. Mrs. Buckingham was formerly Miss Mildred Hraban. Gage County Leads CROP Donations Thirty-five carloads of bulk foodstuff, with a cash equivalent of approximately $70,000 have been reported as contributed i.o the 1950 Christian Rural Over seas Procram drive in Nebraska. according to word from State ! CROP Director Merlin rrantz. In making the report Dec. 31, Frantz emphasized that the fig ure was "by no means final."; Many of the counties nave not submitted final reports. Unofficial figures show that Gage county leads all counties with a contribution totalling $6,300. Others showing returns are Hamilton, $4,580; York. $4, 235: Thayer, $4,000, and Platte, $2,998. Final figures on the 1950 CROP drive should be available in mid-January. By then all counties will have reported. "God" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon which will be read in Christian Science churches throughout the world on Sunday, Jaunary 7, 1951. The Golden Text is: "Now un to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever." (I Timothy 1:17). Other Bible citations include, "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my command ments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love." (John 15:9. 10). The Lesson-Sermon also in cludes the following passage from the Christian Science text book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. "Jesus presented the ideal of God better than could any man whose origin was less spiritual. By his obedience to God, he demonstrated more spiritually than all others the Principle of being. Mr. and Mrs. Cordes Lemon, Mrs. Angie Lemon, Donna and Jack attended the funeral of F. J. Coleman in Jennings, Kan., Saturday. Mr. Coleman was an uncle of Cordes Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Gra ham. Mr. and Mrs. John Rem menga and Elmer and Rev. Neth were Wednesday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gra ham and George in honor of the baptism of little George. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Fosnot and children of Lincoln were over night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Richards Thursday. Eagles Urge Silent Prayer For Peace Plattsmouth Aerie No. 365, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Thursday adopted a resolution urging all organizations in the community to begin each meet ing with a silent prayer for peace for the world. Adoption of the resolution by the local organization follows the recommendation of the na tional group. The resolution points out that "the world is threatened with devastation of our spiritual, moral and material resources by war that could engulf the world and destroy all that has been held dear by ourselves, our fore fathers, and all free peoples." It urges all other organiza tions of the community to join with the Eagles in having all those at civic and public gath erings, prior to the start of such function, join together in silent prayer for the peace of the world. The resolution was signed by Secretary James Hall and Pres ident W. P. O Donnell. Mrs. Sophia Wolever injured one of her fingers Monday when she caught it in the wringer of a washing machine while wash ing clothes. Metzger Named On Two Committees State Senator William Metz ger of Cedar Creek, was named to the important revenue com mittee by the Committee on Committees of the state legis lature Wednesday. He was also named a member of the com mittee on Miscellaneous Appro priations and Claims. THOMAS WALLING CO. The schools had dis missed classes the week end before Christmas, giving the students a ten day vacation. The students reported for classes at the regular time Wednesday morning. Former State Senator Wm. A. Metzger, who underwent surgery at an Omaha hospital two weeks ago, is reported as making satis factory recovery at his home near Cedar Creek. Sgt. and Mrs. Delbert E. Schwenneker of Grand Prairie,. Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Schwenneker of Plattsmouth were Christmas guests at the Howard Schwenneker home. Mrs. Anna W. Caldwell of Te kamah arrived here Friday to spend a few days visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Caldwell. Sullivan of Murray. POLICE COURT Archie D. Thornton paid a fine of S3 and costs of $3.25 on a plea of guilty to illegal park ing December 26, before Judge C. L. Graves. Chief D. T. Haley was arresting officer. A fine of S10 and costs of $3.25 was assessed against Robert Ela vin by Judge Graves on Decem ber 29 when he plead guilty to an intoxication charge filed by Police Officer R. L. Litle. William E. Koehler was fined $3 and costs of $3.25 on charges of passing a stop sign December 30. R. L. Litle made the arrest. A versatile electric pencil sharpener is on the market.
