Correspondent Mrs. Margaret Todd and son, Dick, entertained at a Christ mas dinner Monday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Spangler, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Spaneler, son. Bill, Mr. and Mrs. William Cummings, daugh ter, Ellen Marie, Perry, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Spangler, Omaha, and Mrs. Wilhelmina Nolting, Plattsmouth. Mrs. Dorothy Lloyd, daugh ter, Jean, entertained at a Christmas dinner Monday. Pres ent were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Wehrbein, Bill Wehrbein, Miss Betty Lund, Bennington, Nebr., Mrs. Nell Wehrbein. Platts mouth, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wunderlich and Mrs. Alice Creamer, Murray. Bill Holland joined the group in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Boe deker we.re hosts at a Christmas dinner Monday. Those enjoying the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. W. Q. Boedeker, Nancy and Su zanne Boedeker, and H. B. Hutchman. Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Tyson en joyed Christmas dinner with the doctor's mother at Elmwood, at the Fleming Robb home. Mr. and Mrs. Marion McCrory were also present. The Murray Study club held their annual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Glen Boedeker Thursday. A covered dish lunch eon was served at noon. Mrs. Evelyn Morris, president, read the Christmas Story, and Christ mas carols were sung, and an exchange of gifts was enjoyed. Election of officers was held. Mrs. Clara Druecker was elected president, Mrs. Lorene McKul sky, treasurer. It was also voted to send five dollars to the Chil dren's Memorial Hospital, Oma ha, in memory of Mrs. Nellie Long, who was a devoted mem ber of the club. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hild were presented a television set for Christmas by their son and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hild. Mrs. Alice Creamer received a Christmas card from Al Bart lett. His home is at Center ville, Iowa. Al made his home with Mrs. Creamer a number of years, and has many old friends in and around Murray. He stated in his card that he is in poor health. Dr. and Mrs. G. H. Gilmore spent Christmas Eve at Union, at thp home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frans. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Tpangler and son. Bill, drove to Columbia. Mo., Tuesday to SDend the rest of the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Myer. Rev. Roy P. Morris motored to Kansas to spend the holi rlays with his sons and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wohlfarth entertained at Christmas dinner Monday. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wohlfarth. son. Bob, Patricia Wohlfarth. In the evening Marilou Warner joined them for lunch and later in the evening Mrs. Dale Wohlfarth had a teleohone rail from Chicago from her brother. Dousclas Mac marquis, who had arrived from England, to soend the holiday season with them. Mrs. Eugenia De Les Dernier reports that she is great grand mother. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jim De Les Dernier, Findlay, Ohio. Mrs. Addie Park is great grandmother to a second great grandson, born in Omaha to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sullivan. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hild at tended a family Chnstmas Eve party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Hansen, Nehawka. Twenty-one guests were pres ent. After supper there was a gift exchange and movies taken of those present. On Christ mas day the Hansens had a fam ily dinner, also the birthdays of Mrs. Mollv Pollard, and Mrs. Clarence Hansen were celebrat ed. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lan caster had Christmas dinner Mondav. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Malvern Read and family, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Noell and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hoschar and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lancaster, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Younker and fam ily. In the afternoon a gift ex change was enjoyed. In the eve-' ning Mr. and Mrs. Howard Younker had supper at the Bill I Hoschar home in Plattsmouth. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs.i Marion Worthan, Plattsmouth, had a Christmas party. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. El wood Snod grass and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gomer Worthan and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Worthan and family, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lancaster and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Worthan. During the evening they had a- gift exchange and a very delicious lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jenkins drove to Milwaukee, Wis., to spend the holidays at the home of their son, Kingsley Jenkins and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lucean Carper entertained at a Christmas din ner Monday. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Meisinger, daughter, Lucy Ann, Betty El liot, Plattsmouth. Mrs. Gertrude Carper, Gus Nelson, Nehawka, Allan snd John Carper. Mrs. Selma Nelson and son, Ed. In the evening Bob Meisinger and Joan Cockerill, Lincoln, joined the group. Mr. and Mrs. Olin Morris and family were Christmas dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Morris, at Union. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Olin Morris entertained at their home at a buffet luncheon. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Char les Mead, Mr. and Mrs. James Comstock and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edward" Wehrbrin and family, Mrs. Will Wehrbein, Jimmy, Marilyn and David Mor ris. Mrs. Eugenia De Les Dernier had a family Christmas dinner Sundav. Her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Brittan and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Doeschot and family came to spend the day. Sunday Mrs. Sadie Shrador and Gerald entertained at a Christmas dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans. son, Jack, Mr. fnd Mrs. F. J. Knecht, South Bend, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wunderlich. New Gas Rates Reflect Wholesale Price Increase (Continued from Page One) distribution lines at cost levels several times those prevailing when the original lines were in stalled," Mr. Gleason reported. "Our Comrjany's wholesale gas supDlier, Northern Natural Gas Company, was permitted a 14 per cent increase in the price of gas delivered to our distribu tion svstem effective September 27. 1950," Mr. Gleason stated, "and they have asked the Federal- Power Commission for a further increase of 15 per cent, whuh application is now pend ing." "Our earnings under present conditions cannot continue to absorb those increased costs, and if Northern Natural Gas Company is permitted to place the second increase in effect it will be likewise necessary for our Comnany to reflect the effect of that increase in the rates ohfi'-p-pd for gas service," he con cluded. Glepson stated that the in creased cost to the individual customer effective with meter reading's on and after December 20. 1050. and caused princioally bv Northern Natural Gas Com pany's first, wholesale price in crease, would be relativelv small. "For instance," he said, "the cost for 500 cubic feet would be in creased from $95 to for 3.000 cubic feet from $3.00 to $3.15; for 10.000 cubic feet from $6.93 to $7.40. and for 20,000 feet from $11.90 to $12.90." Cass County 4-H Sheep Club The meeting was held De cember 11 at the home of Nancy Siemoneit. We discussed how to tell the age of sheep. Mr. Weiss drew pictures of the teeth of sheep at different ages and showed them to us.. Following the business meet ing we had a gift exchange and played games. Lunch was served by Mrs. Siemoneit. Dec. 22nd. and at the Evangelical U.B., and Meth odist churches on Sunday night Miss Pauline Liston of Lin coln was a week end guest of her cousins. Dr. and Mrs. How ard Liston and family. Other holiday visitors there were Mrs Liston's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Steinhauer of Council Bluffs and for Sundav. Dr. and Mrs. O. E. Liston. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hall. John. Bobbie, and - Mary Ann were also guests. John Parish who is attending the University of Nebraska and his brother RalDh who is em ployed in Sioux City. Iowa spent the week end here and while visiting friends they roomed at the Douelas apartment house. Mr. and Mrs. Sid Moore were called to Ackley. Iowa the latter nart of the week because of the illness of their son James. On Thursday evening of last week the Young Adults class met at the Methodist church for their fellowship dinner. After that the picture "The Child of Bethlehem" was shown on the screen and the special number was the solo "Star of the East" by Mrs. Richard Pratt. All of the exercises were in the basement this time. Early on Christmas evening the fire siren rang out. and many were called from their homes. They found the fire, that had been reported "by Mr. Kirchoff. at the home of Har old Brummer four miles east of town on the farm owned bv his father. Wm. Brummer. at which place the occupants. Harold, iis wife and baby were visiting: at the time. So the origin of the fire as yet , remains uncertain. Neighbors and other workers succeeded in getting out most of the furniture but a great deal of damage was done to the buil ding and some of the contents. Mr. and Mrs. George Moomey had holiday dinner on Sunday at Murdock at the home of his sister. Mrs. McDonald. Friday callers on M. S. Briggs were Mr. and Mrs. Leland Briggs and Mrs. F. J. Franzen all of Omaha, and Mr. and Mrs. Hal nunmcut oi ues Moines. On Christmas morning the Omaha relatives came again and Mr. Briggs went with them to spend the day at Wahoo. with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Neil, the latter be ing a sister of Mrs. Leland Briggs. One of the finest evenings spent in the Rebekah Lodge was on Thursday night when they with the Oddfellows and famil ies of both held a Christmas party at their hall. There was a covered dish luncheon and other holiday entertainment, and gift exchange. , At the Bluebird meeting at the heme of Mrs. Nettie Men denhall on Tuesday a good time was enjoyed, and an offering was received for a children's home. Christmas day the family dinner for the Harley relatives was held at Plattsmouth with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Geschke and Norman. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Oehlerk ing of Lincoln called on Albert Kunz on Friday evening. They reported the death of her bro ther, Ezra Pieper of Chicago. This is sad news lor his friends for Ezra attended school here a number of years ago when his father was minister of the Ev angelical church. Mrs. Nettle Mendenhall spent Christmas at the home of her daughter Mrs. Fern Hewitt at Diller. The holiday gift to the com munity of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Linder was a free show on Sat urdav afternoon. Dec. 23rd. after which the commercial people handed out treats to the chil dren. - Albert Kunz was a holiday puest of his sister. Mrs. Lana Jeffers and familv of Lincoln. Dr. Pfoutz District, Superin tendent was the speaker at the Methodist church on Sundav morning and assisted Mrs. Ward with the communion services. Mrs. Goeden is the former Lela Mae Covert. Sgt. Covert and family will leave Friday for Camp Detrick, Frederick, Maryland. He has re enlisted for six years in the air force and expects to be sta tioned there for some time.
