Mrs. John Nutzman accompa nied her son Ted and Miss Ethel Munson to Minnesota to visit her sister Mrs. Ranfrans. Mrs. Merle Tressler received word of the sudden death of her father William Sloan, 53. at Ollie, Iowa. She and Mr. Tressler left immediately. John Wolph took care of the Tressler station. Mrs. Dora Oldenburg spent several days at Lincoln visiting at tne Arian koss home. Mrs. Rasmus Jensen assisted by Mrs. William Brandt honored Mrs. Merle Meyer at a pink and blue shower Wednesday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Mohr and daughter Evelyn of Palisade vis ited relatives and Evelyn also attended the State Teachers Convention. Mrs. W. M. Manel received word of the death oi her brother Verner Wollen of Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Mapel attended services at Omaha Saturday. John Herman has been very ill at his home southwest of Avoca the past week. Mrs. Emma Rawalt and Mrs. Louise Spencer spent Saturday at Lewellen at the Verne Rawalt home. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ruhge went to Lincoln Thursday evening to observe their wedding anniver sary. Mrs. Ellis Lacy was hostess to two paper products party Mon day afternoon and evening. Miss Josephine Vogel of Nebraska City gave the demonstration. Mrs. W. M. Klemme and Don Harmon were in Omaha on busi ness Friday. Mrs. Harmon went along and spent the day at the home of her son Earl and wife. Next day Don left with the John son boys to hunt. Mrs. Harry Mead and daugh ters of Fremont spent Sunday at the Albert Carr home. Mrs. Ernest Noris spent Sun day with her mother Mrs. Croun over at Syracuse. Mrs. Mary Sudman of Neoras- ka City announces the engage ment and approaching marriage of her daughter Delores to Leo Carr. son of Mr. -and Mrs. AiDert Carr of Avoca. The marriage will be an event of November 25 at Avoca. The North Branch Lutheran League held a skating party at Nebraska City Friday evening. Dr. Onis Brendle, Zionsvme, Indiana, spent the week end at the home of his cousin Dr. J. W. and Mrs. Brendle. Sunday they went hunting at Minden. Mrs. Walter Holm and daugh ters spent Monday at the Henry Maseman home. Mr. and Mrs. John Rippe and Elaine returned home Monday from Wichita, Kansas where they visited his sister Mrs. John Hus ton. They also visited his brother William at Arkansas City and other relatives at Cushing, Okla home and other places of inter est where Mr. Rippe formerly lived. Mrs. Ellis Lacy entertained at a personal shower honoring Janis McFadden her niece whose ap proaching marriage is an event on November 22. Those attend ing were Marilyn Akeson.
