Miss Rachael Taylor of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Keedy of Ashland were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Porter last Sunday. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Henderson. Oct. 17th at St. Mary's hospital. Mr. and Mrs. George Rieke and family and Mrs. John Faris all of Murray attended services at the Methodist church last Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Neil of Keytesville, Missouri, called at the Ben Neil home last Sunday and in the evening, guests were Leslie Potts and Barbara of Plattsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hoyt of Omaha and Dean Stra der of Omaha. She has been a vic tim of the flu for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Rihn of Plattsmouth spent Saturday eve ning and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dysart. The Methodist church ladies are doing their soliciting these days, getting ready for their Election Day Dinner and Supper, November 7th. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Alexander of East Yellowstone, Montana and Mrs. Dave Murray of Weeping Water, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Comer. The Alexanders will spend the winter in California . On October 19th, fifteen mem bers of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Metho dist church were guests of the W.S.C.S. of the Wyoming church. This being a "Visitation" meet ing in keeping with the tenth anniversary of the W.S.C.S., the Union ladies presented their "birthday cake" decorated with eleven candles. (One candle to grow on.) Mrs. Merlyn Balfour led the worship service observing the week of prayer and self de nial. Later in the afternoon, re freshments were served from an attractively decorated table with fall flowers and tapers. On Tuesday afternoon. October 17, the American Legion Auxili ary met at the Legion hall. There was a line attendance. Hostess es were Nina Upton, Jessie Up ton and Vera Acktey. November 3rd at Legion club at Omaha. Marion Clark and Mary Gobleman re ported on membership drive. Re port showed there are sixty-one members for 1951. Jane Roddy reported on gut snop quota, which consists of one doll, cloth ing and blanket, two fancy tea aprons, and five gifts for girls ten years and older. Violet Atte bery reported that all plans were made for Boys and Girls county to be held at Plattsmouth Octo ber 23rd. Ten dollars was voted to be sent to Leonard Wood Memorial Fund. Delegates to dis trict convention at Seward on October 24th are Vita Snod grass, Golda Brannon, Violet At tebery and Mary Gobleman. Al ternates are Jane Roddy, Marion Clark, Erma Baker and Gretchen Everett. Gwen Scoles was leader of the meeting. Her topic was "Education of War Orphans", New members present were pre sented corsages. Delicious re freshments were served at the close of meeting. Mr. and Mrs. John McQuin were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. Mitchell Rich and twin daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kasbohm and son Donald of Dunbar were Sunday evening callers at the Meivin Todd home. Ramona McQuin, Bonnie Baker and Donna McQuin at tended a Young People's party at the Baptist church at Nebras ka city last Monday evening. NEW 4-H CLUB A 4-H cookine club was or ganized at the home of our leader Mrs. Charles Spangler Monoay mem. omcers elected were: President, Janice Lan caster; Vice President. Nancy Lancaster; Secretary, Suzanne Boedeker; Reporter, Diana Wiles. Other members of the club are Kay Faris, Marilyn Sporer. Deanna Stones. Lila Peterson and Diana Long) We learned to measure in gredients and make cookies at our first meeting. Our next meeting will be at the home of Deanna Stone on Saturday afternoon, November 4th. Diana Wiles, Reporter. CASS COUNTY SI12EP CLUB The Cass County Sheep Club meeting was held at the home of Carroll and Mary Schmidt, Oct. 12. All members were present and we welcomed Tommy Carneal as a new member. The topic we discussed was "sheep worms and their control." Our meetings are going to be held the second Monday of each month.
