Ed Morley received word of the death of his brother William Morley at Upland; California on Saturday. He had been in fail ing health for several years. - Mr. and Mrs. Clair Wulber and daughters left Wednesday for their new home at Osceola. Henry Oldenburg who had an emereencv aooendectomy last week at Bryan Memorial hospital is getting" along1 nicely. Delbert Munn of Bakersfield, California is here visiting rel atives. He has just returned from accompanying the body fo his sister Mrs. Green to Peoria Illinois to be buried beside her husband. Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr at tended a picnic at Stetnheart Park; Nebraska City Sunday honoring the weddnig anniver sary of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ehlers of Syracuse Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Mapel have sold their home in Avoca to Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Dittmer of Weeping Water. The Ditt mers plan to move in this fall. The Maple have been- living at Seward but have recently moved to Lincoln where they have bought a home. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Koester announce the birth of a daugh ter Mary Ann July 18 at St. Marys hospital in Nebraska City. Missouri were here Sunday to call on Roy Ruhge but missed seeing him. They were together in Stalig lufft III as prisoners of war in Germany when their plane was lost. Mr. Frick was the pilot. Mrs. Minnie Neumeister and Bertha had a birthday dinner for Roy Ruhge Wednesday, also present were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. F. Ruhge and Mrs. Roy Ruhge. Mrs. Bedelia Stander came down Thursday to help Robert Marquardt celebrate his birth day Mrs. Caroline Marquardt was also present. Mr. and Mrs. John Marquardt and Jill and Mr. and Mrs. H. II. Marquardt were visiting at Au burn Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dewey of Louisville were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rathburn. Mrs. Fred Mraquardt received word of the death of her uncle, James Stander of Iouisville at the Methodist Hospital. Miss Doris Lauritzen of Weep ing Water was the guest of Mar ilyn Akeson several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zaiser and George Peters were in Omaha on business Thursday. Mrs. Emma Rawaldt visited her sister Mrs. Floyd Amsbaugh at Omaha Thursday. Mrs. Silas Everett entertained for her mother, Mrs. Bergastrus ser on her birthday on July 13. Mr. and Mrs. Hilvard Nutzman and children of Otoe visited his mother, Mrs. Emma Nutzman: Sunday evening. Mrs. Henry Maseman spent several days at Syracuse at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Halvon. Mrs. John Wolph spent sev eral days at Malvern. Iowa vis iting her parents last week. The Avoca Fire Department was called Monday morning to the Clarence Koester farm near Otoe where a barn full of hay was afire from combustion. The Otoe and Syracuse firemen were also there. All the hay had to be taken out of the barn. Through the help of people that gathered in a short time it was put out. The neighbor women came in and prepared dinner for over 150 men that helped. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Maseman. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman and Richard were in Lincoln Thursday to see Carl Maseman who is not very well. Marlene Hennings is visiting her aunt and uncle in Louisville this week. The Desert club met Sunday evening with Mr .and Mrs. An thony Worth. Honors at cards went to Mrs. H. Dankleff, Mrs. Loyd Antes, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kastens and Henry Smith. Fred Linhardt was quite ill at his home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sill and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Morley were in Omaha to visit Mrs. Ralph Mor ley, a surgery patient at an Omaha hospital. Born to Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Kunz of Weeping Water a son, July 23 at Nebraska City hos pital. Mrs. Elmer Hallstrom received word of the death of her niece's husband, Wade Carpenter in an airplane crash in Tennessee. Mrs. Fred Marquardt attended the funeral of her uncle Jim Stander at Louisville Thursday. Mrs. Louise Spencer spent the night with her sister Mrs. Emma Rawalt Wednesday and Thurs day they departed for Lewellen where they will visit Verne Ra walt and family. Miss Petronella Cullen at tended the funeral of her grand mother, Mrs. Magnusen last week. Mrs. John Dankleff Sr. ob served her 89th birthday July 24th. Mrs. Henry Dankleff and Mrs. Henry Smith gave reports on their work at Crete with the Work Stop. A shower was given at this meeting for Mrs. Joe Kovert. The next meeting is to be a book review and coffee hour. Bob Lewis, enjoyed dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Merritt Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Worthan and sons enjoyed Sunday eve ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rice and family watch ing television. Rev. and Mrs. Val Johnson, son Mark. Mr. and Mrs. James Eastridge are enjoying a ten day vacation in the Ozark moun tains. During Rev. Hoscher was able to re turn home from the hospital Sunday, feeling quite a lot bet ter. Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Faris, a birthday supper was enjoyed, consisting of plenty of fried chicken and many other good foods. Mr. and Mrs. Buzz Gakemeier have gone to Minnesota to spend a weeks vacation. Mr. Robert Gakemeier and Helen Aparo of Omaha were united in marriage Sunday, July 30th. They will live in the Will ard Wilkens apartment. Mr. and Mrs. John Krue'ger visited relatives in Plattsmouth on Saturday evening. Miss Letha Brunkow who has been going to summer school is now at home for the rest of the summer. Mrs. Emma Ward and C. M. Ritter of Bennett, Nebraska were married Saturday after noon in Lincoln. They will make their home on a farm near Ben net. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Rikli and family of Oklahoma are visiting at the erne of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Rikli and other relatives. Jack Amgwert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Amgwert, who is a member of the ROTC is in camp in Tennessee for several weeks. Mrs. Bud Johnson and two sons of Omaha are spending sev eral weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Buck, while her husband is at camp.
