The city council was then called to order by Mayor Wos ter and organized by the re election of Councilman Frank A. Rebal as president of the coun cil. Mayor Waster then announced the appointment of the various officers for the city as follows: cr.y Attorney, Harold Lebens, re-appointed. City Fhysician, Dr. R. F. Bren del. Chief of Police, D. T. Haley. Night Police: Fred H. Vincent and Clyde Jackson, the latter a new member of the police force. All of these appointments were confirmed by the council. Mayor Woster then announc ed the standing committees of the council as follows: Finance-Tax and Property Rebal. Chairman; Arn. judiciary - License, Sattler, chairman; Siemers. Streets, Alleys and Bridges, Arn, chairman; Sattler. Fire, Water and Lighting, Siemers, chairman; Rebal. Mayor Woster announced the re-appointment of the members of the park board, George Conis, Mrs. M. E. Brown and William F. Kreager. The mayor also named as members of the cemetery board to succeed themselves, C. E Ledgway and William H Schmidtmann. Mrs. Joe Puis Nov at Methodist Hospital Mrs. Joe Puis, a resident of west of Plattsmouth. is at the Mathodist hospital at Omaha where she was taken several days ago. Mrs. Puis is under going treatment for a series of hemorrhages that she has suf fered for the past few days. She has been given several trans fusions in the hope of building up her strength. Not Lost at All ROCHESTER, Mass. (UP) When Jennifer Jackson, 5, and her sister, Lillian. 4, disappeared an extensive police search w.rs started by their distraught mother. The youngsters finally were found 50 miles from home, sitting calmly in the back of their father's truck. Ke had driven it to Boston on a business trip. An unexpected feature of the banquet, that was cleverly giv en, was the discourse on "European Agriculture," pre sented by Dr. Hans Schnitzel, who was revealed later as Mr, Kugler of Murray. Introduction was made by the master of ceremonies of mem bers of the grand lodge present, Ernest S. Schiefelbein. Wahoo, grand master; John S. Hedlund, Omaha, deputy grand master; Carl R. Greisen. Omaha, grand secretary; Raymond C. Pollard, Nehawka. grand tyler. Grand Master Schiefelbein made the presentation of the Jordan medal, high Masonic recognition, to Dr. G. H. Gil more, a member of Plattsmouth lodge for over fifty years, as a token of his long and useful service to Masonary. Dr. Gil more responded in his usual clever manner. The local lodge was very for tunate in having as their speak er of the evening, John Curtiss, of Lincoln, past grand orator of the Nebraska grand lodge, one of the outstanding residents of Nebraska. Mr. Curtiss devoted his talk to the present day con ditions in our own United States and in the world. He warned of the seriousness of the present time, the necessity of the citi zens of the country to face with seriousness the trend cf the present time. He urged Mason ary to carry on their traditional service to country and com munity in times of stress that were now prevailing. The program was closed .h the benediction by Dr. H. G. McClusky, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Among the visitors from Lin coln were A. H. Duxbury, grand master of Plattsmouth lodge, now deputy manager of the Veterans Administration at Lin coln; Rev. T. Porter Bennett, past grand high priest of the R. A. M. There were many here from Nehawka lodge, Euclid lodge of Weeping Water, Canopy lodge of Elmwood and Unity lodge of Greenwood. In the visiting members there were representatives from lodges in New Hampshire, Massachusetts Kansas and Iowa.
