J., after spending a month with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Kime. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wunder lich visited Miss Anne Wunder lich in Omaha, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Dory, Lin coln, were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Tucker. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schreiner j and family went to Nebraska City Saturday evening to help Mr. and Mrs. Mark Behrends celebrate their 20th wedding an niversary. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Schreiner and family, Dunbar, called at the Ray Schreiner home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Stone honored their son, Dick, Sunday with a dinner on his birthday. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Stone, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Pierce and Neila, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hall. On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Dick Berner, Louisville, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Worthan, Platts mouth. brought their dinner to the home of Mr and Mrs. Dick Stone, honoring the birthday of Dick Stone. Sunday evening Mrs. Robert Wunderlich talked to her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Gordon, who are visiting their daughter at Houston, Texas. Obituary of Charles Hansen Charles Nickolas Hansen was born August 19th, 1877 on the farm his father homesteaded in the year 1854, located north and west ot Nefiawka- and passed away March 2nd, 1950 at the age ef 72 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was the seventh of eight children born to John George and Wilhelmina Hansen. His early life was spent in farm du ties and attending the rural school near-by. He was united in marriage with Mollie Beckner and to this union, five children were born, all of whom preceeded him in death, three in infancy, Lester, age six months and Florence, who passed away in May, 1927, at the age of 24 years. Also three brothers, Simon. Peter and George, and a sister, Emma Ob ernolte. During his earlier years, he was engaged in farming on a farm a few miles northwest of the Hansen homestead and lat er lived in Plattsmouth for a number of years. Due to failing health, he was forced to give up his activities and went to live at Hillcrest Nursing Home, where he passed away. Surviving are his brother, F. A. Hansen, of Nehawka and two sisters, Helena Benjamin of Bellingham, Wash., and Anna Knabe of Lincoln, Nebr. Also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Sattler funeral home at Plattsmouth, Saturday forenoon with Rev. Harry Hart officiat ing. Mr. Frank Cloidt sang "Saved by Grace" and "The City Four Square," accompanied by Mr. E. H. Wescott. Nephews of the deceased who acted as pallbearers were Harry Knabe, John Hansen, Clarence Hansen, Fred Hansen. Ivan Hansen and Hal Hansen. Fittingly, his body was laid to rest in the St. John cemetery northwest of Nehawka, which was once a portion of the home stead his father pioneered. Pfc. Pat Burk Has Visit Home Pfc. Patrick Burk, who has been training in the air corps at Lackland Field, San Antonio, Texas, has been home for the past few days visiting with his relatives and old friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Taylor. Pat has completed his train ing period at Lackland, one of the largest training centers of the army and when leaving here will report at Fort Francis E. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming. CALLED TO YORK Today (Monday) Officer Fred Vincent of the city police force was called to York, Nebraska, by a message announcing the serious illness of his father, John Vincent, aged 84. Mr. Vin cent has been quite ill for some time. Officer Vincent left for his old home and will remain there until the condition of the father makes some change. .... FORT WORTH. Tex. (UP) The Holland L .Hardins had double bad luck the same day. Hardin, a police patrolman, col lided with a truck in the police vehicle. Less than two hours later. Mrs. Hardin was involved in a collision with the family car. Marcn e, I950 Coleman O'Brien Is Improving: The old friends here of Cole man O'Brien, Sr.,' veteran U. S. Engineer, will be pleased to learn that he is now some bet ter and resting easier following a stroke suffered on Sunday, February 26th. Mr. O'Brien, who just recently retired from the engineers, is living at Blaine, Missouri, wher he purchased a small farm and planned to make his home dur ing his retirement. Prior to mov ing to Missouri, the family re sided at Nebraska City after leaving Plattsmouth until his retirement from active duty. Mr. and Mrs. Coleman O'Brien, Jr., of this city and James O'Brien of Offutt Field, were at Blaine to visit the father and found him a great deal improv ed although his case was quite serious for several days. GIVEN NEW ASSIGNMENT Plattsmouth friends of John H. Highfield, son of Mrs. Wil liam Highfield of this city, will be pleased to learn of the fact that he has been given a pro motion in Omaha where he is with the Hinky-Dinky company. Jack has been situated at store No. 11 in Omaha and is named as head meat cutter at store No. 4, one of the large stores of the company. Mr. and Mrs. High field will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on March 12th. Mrs. Wm. Carnell, Union, ac. companied Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warden and family to Shenan doah, Saturday.
