Charles ruber I is the grandfather, i Born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hallstrom, of Omaha, January 17th, a daughter. Mrs. Hall strom has been seriously ill as the little one was born prema ture. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hall strom are grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Mr .and Mrs. Ralph Dean and family of Douglas were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Linhardt and Maryann. One of the big plate glass windows at the Wm. Gollner meat market was crashed Satur day. At first it was thought a shot with a beebee gun had caused the damage but later a few crushed rocks were found beneath the window on the sidewalk and it is supposed to have been thrown there by a passing car. W. G. Hadsell left Friday for an extended vacation to Texas and California. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hensen who have been living on the Ernest Haverman farm east of town have moved to Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. John Stubben dich entertained at a pinochle party Thursday evening and Friday their children came to help them observe their 40th wedding anniversary. John Rippe, Wilbert Emshoff and Richard Maseman made a business trip to Grand sland to bring back a truck load of cat tle. Ladies Aid held an all day quilting at the home of Mrs. Nancy Carsten Thursday. 12 ladies were present. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Baier were dinner guests in Lincoln Sunday, where they helped Wm. Baier celebrate his birthday. The Sunday school held their annual election of officers on Sunday with the following be ing named for the ensuing year: Asst. Supt., Mrs. Lester Heeb ner; Secy., Mrs. J. H. F. Ruhge; Treas.. Mrs. Elmer Hennings; Pianist, Miss Norma Emshoff; Asst. Pianist, Mrs, J. W. Bren dle; Junior Supt., Mrs. Wm. Berger. Wesson's Good Clothes Nothing Else Since 1879 Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stovall and children, of Russel, Iowa, were Saturday callers at the J. H. F. Rughe home on Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ruhge and family of Talmage, were Sunday dinner guests. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Halm and Cheryl, of Syracuise, en tertained at dinner Sunday. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman and Richard, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Maseman and Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Nutter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Garnett, Madge and Greth; Mr. and Mrs. Earle Harmon and Mrs. Thom as; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Klemme and Stephen; Neal and Ramona Johnson came Sunday to help Mrs. Harmon observe her birth day. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Swindle called in the evening. Mrs. Ed Morley is recovering from a bad fall she had on the ice a week ago. Mrs. Clyde Bogard was ill Monday and unable to be at McDonald's store. Guests to help Mrs. Alma Minderman celebrate her birth day Wednesday were: Mr. and Mrs. John Emshoff and Anna Mae; Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ems hoff; Mrs. Wilbert Emshoff; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Emshoff; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Koester; Mr. and Mrs. John Rippe and Elaine. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dank leff attended the World's Trade Fair at the Joslyn Memorial in Omaha last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Norton Johnson left Thursday for Portland, Oregon to visit her father and other relatives. The Avoca Woman's club met Wednesday with Mrs. J. W. Brendel with Mrs. W. M. Ber ger as assistant hostess. The club made a donation to the "March of Dimes." Mrs. Ern est Norris, Mrs. Clair Wulber, Mrs. Tom Akeson, Mrs. Elmer Hennings demonstrated Square Dancing. Mrs. Lawrence Paap of Otoe reviewed "Cheaper by the Dozen". Mrs. John Norris and Mrs. Wm. Maseman were guests. Mrs. Henry Maseman spent several days last week at the Walter Halm home near Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Jmts Fidler and girls and Miss Norma Bush nell called on Mrs. Grace Cop pie at the Bryan Memorial hospital Saturday evening. A former resident of the South Bend community, Ru dolph Copsey, died suddenly on Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles, Calif. His brother, Ed and family left Wednesday to attend the funeral. The Friendly Circle club is planning a Polio benefit card party for Saturday, January 2S, to be held at the town hall. Everybody cordially invited to attend. Mrs. George Vogel was taken to the Clarkson hospital in Om aha Saturday by the Marcy ambulance. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans and Jackie called on the Jess Fidlers Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Grady vis ited at the Bill Rosencrans' on Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rosencrans had dinner Sunday at the Andy Lahr home in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Marcoe and Roy Richards spent the week end with Dora Richards and girls. Mrs. William Wagner and daughter Edna, of Winside, vis ited over the week end at the Glen Thiessen heme. W. J. O'Brien returned home Sunday morning from Oakland, Calif., where he had spent the last five weeks visiting with his cousin, Mrs. Alta DLavis. , Mr. and Mrs. Pleas Proctor and Pauline had supper Tuesday at the Glen Thiessen home, hon oring Mrs. Nancy Streight on her birthday. Sunday callers at the Glen Thiessen home were Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Streight, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Barney and dau ghter, Mr. and Mrs. Wynne Thiessen and boys Mr. and Mrs. Corbin Cox en tertained Tuesday evening the following guests for supper in honor of their daughter, Velma, whose birthday was the occa sion: Mr. and Mrs. Wilby Cox and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Gronjeas and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Nunn and Dennis.
