But trade was generally slow, buyers reluctant to go higher because of a continuing lag in Eastern meat trade. Fat cattle bulked at $23.C0-$26.00, best steers $30.00, quotable top still around $40.00, plain short feds down to $18.00. Fed heif ers sold to $26.25, a part load: $26.50. Cows regained up to 50c and more of last week's break, clearing canners and cutters at $12.50-$14.00, beef to $17.00. Bulls sold at $15.50 to $19.25, odd head to $19.75. Veal ers held at $20.00-$28.00. Stock- ers and feeders sold strong to 25c higher, mostly $22.00-$24.-50, light stock steers $25.00, steer calves to $28.00 and $28.25, heif er calves to $24.00.
