Dorothea Keil JournaJ Correspondent American Legion Auxiliary The American Legion Auxili ary met at the Legion home for the monthly meeting Monday night, January 2. Ten members were present in spite pf the cold and blustery weather. Amelia Stewart gave a report on what she did for child wel fare at Christmas time of which she is chairman. At the close of the meeting Mrs. Belle May, Ida Muenchau and Marie Morgarj served a nice lunch, the Legion post joining in for lunch. The next meeting will be Feb ruary 6 with Mrs. Dorothy Davis, Hazel Porter and Evelyn Rans- ford as hostesses. Minnie Bird, reporter Herman Wolken Passes Away Funeral services were held for Herman Wolken at the Eagle Methodist church Monday aft ernoon, Jan. 2, who passed away December 30, 1949, at a Lincoln hospital. R,ev. Rangejer of Bea trice, assisted by Rev. William Bailey of Eagle, were in tharge of the service. Burial was in the Eagle cemetery. Mr. Wolken was born in Ger many in July, 1865. He was mar ried in his native land. Mrs. Wolken passed away several years ago. He is survived by four daugh ters, Mrs. Lena Gerdes and Miss Leta Wolken of Lincoln, Mrs. William Muenchau of Eagle and Mrs. Walter Weyers of Elmwood; three sons, John of Palmyra, August and Frank of Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reid of Syracuse were dinner guests at the Reitter home last Sunday. On the return trip they were in volved in an automobile accident near Palmyra which caused the death of Mrs. Reid and seriously injured Mr. Reid. Mrs. Laura West returned home from Des Moines, la., last Thursday. She had spent the holidays with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gay and daughter. Dallas Fifer recently sold his grocery stock to Dick Brinkman who took possession the first part of January. Mr. and Mrs. Brinkman plan to move to Eagle in the near future. Rea was the general chairman of the ladies commit tee that had charge of the lunch room and the preparing of the lunches for the donors of the blood, the donors having been without food for several hours prior to the giving of the blood. Death of Mrs. Ann Heafey Mrs. Anna Heafey, long time resident of Nebraska City and known to a very large number of friends in Cass county and Plattsmouth, died on Saturday. Mrs. Heafey has been making her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Knoll, during the winter and passed away at their home. Mrs. Heafey was the mother of Mrs. Stuart Egenberger of Oma ha, former Plattsmouth resident. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ward Egenberger of this city, Mrs. Helen Carter and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Egenberger of Omaha were at Nebraska City to be with the bereaved family.
