The evening entertainment was sponsored by Mrs. Emil Schmitt and Mrs. Albert Hil fiker assisted by the 4-H lead ers of both groups, which were Mrs. Walter Weiss and Mrs. Lou is Wegener for the Busy Bees and Mrs. Albert Todd and Mrs. Art Weiss for the Nimble Fin gers which helped to make the evening of entertainment such a great success, which was open ed by the singing of Christmas carols led by the group with Mrs. Henry Nolting at the piano. The members of . the two clubs gave a very interesting demonstration of 4-H yells dur ing the evening that were very much enjoyed by all of the group. The entire party had a rare treat in showing of motion pic tures by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schaf er of near Nehawka. The pictures were secured by them on their recent trip to the west coast and were very much en joyed by all. Games of the evening were given under the direction of Mrs. Emil Schmitt and Mrs. Al bert Hilfiker, and served as a delightful feature for the child ren of the party as well as the older ones. The prize winners were John Hild, Mr. Leonard Stoehr, Mrs. Otto Schafer, Marlyn Stoehr, Valeria Meisinger, Bennie Rae Speck and Dennis Todd. Members of the two clubs then joined in a gift exchange and in receiving favors that had been placed on the lovely Christmas tree which had been donated by Mrs. Walter Weiss. A delicious luncheon followed which was in the nature of a covered dish dinner. Mrs. Albert Hilfiker. St. Paul's Church Service Sunday Sunday, January 8th Sunday School at 9:30 a. m. Morning service at 11 o'clock a. m., by Rev. Earl Conover, of Omaha, will bring the message of the day. A congregational meeting will be held on Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock at the church base ment. This will be a covered dish supper. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Barrett, of Des Moines, Iowa, were here over the New Years holiday, visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Armstrong, parents of Mrs. Barrett. They returned home Monday afternoon. Relekahs Hold Installation Monday Night Monday evening the members of Bud of Promise lodge of the Rebekahs held the installation of officers of the lodge for the ensuing year at the lodge rooms in the I. O. O. F. building at 3rd and Main street, a large number being out to attend the meeting. District Deputy President Mrs. Marion Hurlbut and staff of Louisville, conducted the im pressive ritualistic work of the evening as the ladies were in vested with the duties of their office for the year. Tuesday, Attorney E. T. Mc Hugh and "Bud" Amgwert, two of the well known residents of Murdock, were in the city for a few hours attending to some matters of business and visiting with their1 many friends in the city, r r. ' Mr. MCHugh states that - the new Corn Growers State bank will be open for business the coming week it is anticipated, but the formal opening of the new banking house will not be until later in January. The bank building is being redec orated and fixed up for the oc cupancy of the bank and when ready" will give them a very at tractive banking house. Estil Jenkins at Omaha Hospital Estil Jenkins was rushed to the Methodist hospital Monday afternoon and underwent an appendectomy at four o'clock. Latest reports are that he is doing as well as can be expect ed.. Dr. Richard Brendel was the attending physician. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Morgan, parents of Mrs. Estil Jenkins, and her sister, Thayer, of Au burn, and Richard Cotner, of this city, were in Omaha with Mrs. Jenkins, Monday, awaiting the outcome of the operation. They later returned to the Jen kins home here. Local People Home From Ohio Visit Mr. and Mrs. Wildon Switzer, son and daughter, returned from Salem, Ohio, Thursday night after a week's visit with relatives in that section of the state. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thiele, of this city, met them at the Omaha station and brought them to Plattsmouth, where they were met by the parents of Mr. Switzer, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Switzer, who took them on back to their home at Nehawka. RETURNS FROM HOSPITAL Frank Sitzmann, who has been In poor health for the past two years, and has been a patient at the St. Joseph hospital at Oma ha, was brought home Friday in the Caldwell ambulance.
