Mr. and Mrs. Joe Behrns re ceived word of the arrival of a granddaughter to Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cooper of Lemar. Bora, a daughter, December 27th, to Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tefft, of Tacoma, Washington. The grandmother is Mrs. Lois Tefft. Great-grandmothers are Mrs. Anna Norris and Mrs. Car oline Tefft. Donald and Robert Noerliner and Miss Arvilla Kuening spent the holidays visiting in Texas at the home of his sister and brothcrin-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kelso. John A. Ftuhge and family spent New Years at the Carl Comptcn home. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kepler entertained at a New Years dinner. Marlin Armbruster, of Wis ner, visited his uncles, Wm. and Elmer Johnson, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Balfour of Nfchawka were supper guests Thursday evening of Mrs. Dena Ruge and Frances. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyer and family were New Years visitors of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Meyer. The Supper club met with Mr. and Mrs. - Fred Marquardt on New Years Eve. Those having scores nearest 1950 received prizes which went to Mrs. Tony Wirth, Mrs. Clarence Norris, Claire Wubler, Henry Dankleff, Ed Koester. Mr. and Mrs. Levi Wilson and family visited Mr. and Mrs. S. Y. Smith in Plattsmouth, Mon l'.ay. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hobach and family were visntors at the Lester Hobach home in Weep ing Water last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Bruns have moved to the Robert Michlo farm. Mrs. Pearl Vette went to Sew ard for the holidays to visit her sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nelsen en tertained 23 relatives and fiiends on December 2Sth. John Gruber is seriously ill at a Nebraska City hospital. John Lingle returned home from St. Mary's hospital for Christmas. Mrs. Caroline Marquardt re turned home to Russell, Iowa, with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Heil and family. Wm. Gollner suffered a heart attack Thursday. His wife is assisting at the meat market. John Sudman has sold his tavern to John Albert of Weep ing Water and plans to give possession February 1. Mr. Sud man plans cn genig to Califor nia. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Emshoff entertained the following guests for New Years: Mr. and Mrs J.ohn Emshoff, Anna Mae, and Ralph; Mr. and Mrs. John Rip pe and Elaine, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rippe and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rippe, Mrs. Alma Minderman and Mel vin and Merle Hennings. Mr. and Mrs. llilvert Nutz man and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Nutzman and family, Mrs. Emma Nutzman and Ele nore, spent New Years clay at the heme of Mrs. Mary Meyers in Syracuse. In the afternoon they visited Mr. Herman Leff lers, who isn't so well. Dumk e and Slohlman are building an addition to the north shed and enclosing it. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman had late Christmas dinner on New Years day. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holm and Cheryl, Mr. and Mrs. My ron Schroeder, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Maseman and Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nutter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Phillio Maseman and Korby, John O. Richard, Arlene Weber and Kathy. Calvin Carsten is the new owner of a television set. Norma Emshoff spent the week end with Arlene Kastens. By Mrs. F. O. Sand James Pollard of Nehawka and Gary Hild of Plattsmouth, will appear on WOWTV cn Fri day noon, January 6th with Mel Hansen. They will give a rural electrification demonstration on electric pig brooders. Miss Nannie Warden ad Mrs. Ruth B. Pollard were dinner guests Thursday of Miss Evelyn Wolph. The Nehawka Junior and Sen- ior Women's clubs sponsored a dance for the high school and college students home for the holidays at the autitorium on Thursday night. Gerald Kime left Tuesday for Beaumont, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Keene of Los Angeles, accompanied him. Mr. and Mrs. George Kime and Joan were dinner guests Sun day of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wischmeyer at Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Sloan, son-in-law and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Sand won first prize of $200 on their "Christ mas Card" window at Bayside, N. Y. The window was of stained glass with a Madonna and Child and two candles on each side, with Noel written above in the center. Bayside is a suburb of New York City and a picture of the window ap peared in the New York Her ald Tribune. Mrs. Sloan was an art major at the University of Nebraska and also attended the Art Center at Los Angeles. More than 100 residents of the Oak land Gardens development of Green Park Homes, Inc., enter ed the contest. Connie Osburn Journal Correspondent Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Green and family of Omaha, spent from Friday night until Sunday morning at the Earl Meisinger home. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bergers and Darlene spent New Years Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wall and family. Mrs. Rase McDonald, Mrs. M. P. Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Ryan and little Phyllis O'Rourke have ail been ill with the flu this week New Years day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rosen crans and Jackie were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Grady. Mr. and Mrs. Buzzy Gakemeier and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Knecht. Miss Vivian Meisinger spent Thursday and Friday with her sister, Mrs. Clarence Green and family in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Berger and Darlene spent the week end w'fh Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Buck ingham. uzei and Jim Tubbs of Lin coln, spent Sunday morning at the E. L. McDonald home. DOES UtT" By HELEN IIALfc WHITE SPOTS ON MAHOGANY furniture can be removed by applying a thick coat ol vaseline over the spots and letting stand for 48 hours before wiping off. Remove old wax with liquid wax to remove watermarks on waxed finishes. Then apply a fresh coat of wax. For other finishes, other than wax, remove watermarks by rub bing oil of peppermint on a damp cloth, then to the surface. Polish dry with a soft cloth. If you have heat marks on a varnished finish, dampen with spirits of camphor. Let dry thor oughly, then polish. When heat marks are on a lac quered wood finsh, rub with a paste of powdered pumice and linseed oil, working with the grain of the wood. Polish when spot Is re moved. Alcohol stains on wood should be wiped off as soon as the liquid is spilled. Rub with fingers or an oiled cloth. For neglected stains, WW PI ri - RECIPE OF THE WEEK Sweet Potatoes, Hawaiian (Serves 6) 3 boiled sweet potatoes, peeled ?'i cup rich milk 2 tablespoons butter 1 tablespoon sugar h cup chopped walnuts 6 canned pineapple slices Mash sweet potatoes and add milk, butter and sugar. Beat until fluffy; fold in walnuts. Fill well greased custard cups and top with drained and halved pineaple slices. Brush with melt ed butter and broil until light brown. go over the spot with a circular motion, in lemon oil. Dip the cloth in powdered rottenstone and gent-, ly rub the powder into the stain. Wipe off with lemon oil, dry and polish. Repeat treatment, if neces sary. Grease spots should be rubbed with lard if they're on washable materials, then washed in rich soapsuds.
