Mr. and Mrs. Julius Van Over beck visited their daughters, Mrs. Wm. Searles and Mrs. Joe Searles of Beaver Creek, Minne sota, leaving here Friday and returning Sunday. Both girls had been ill but were better when their parents left for home. The Fishermen's club, a group of men of the Methodist church, held a family night at the church parlors Friday night. A covered dish supper was served to about 50, and a very pleas ant evening was had by all. Rev. Manners of the Loveland Com munity church of Omaha was a guest speaker. The Hell school east of town held its Christmas plate supper and program Thursday, Decem ber 22. Every one was invited. Mrs. E. A. Ingram is the teacher. Claude Heim was one of the many to bag a deer, weighing about 150 pounds. Claude got his deer cn a ranch near Craw ford. Mrs. Roy Colerick of Antioch, Nebr., spent last week with her son, Mike Colerick and family. She left for home on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stander and baby have moved to Omaha where they have purchased a home. They were living with Mr. Stander's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stander, and Gerald was driving to and from work in Omaha. Miss Louise Sprecher of Man kato, Minnesota, was a guest this week of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Benash. Miss Sprecher, who is a college stu dent, came down a few days early to visit. Mrs. C. R. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Miller spent Christmas at the home of their daughter, Ruth, and fam ily, in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Anderson were called to Omaha Sunday because of the illness of their son-in-law, Floyd Eastridge. He has been taken to a hospital. Miss Gertrude Zastera of Lin coln was home over the week end. Her father drove to Lin coln to take her back Sunday evening. Mrs,. John Ritter called at the Tom Tennant home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. John Rieke of Union, treasurer of the Cass County Farm Bu reau, was in Louisville on busi ness for that organization last Thursday. Glen Lewis of Exeter was a pleasant caller at the Courier office Monday. The Courier ed itor and Mr. Lewis were boyhood friends. Mr. and Mrs. D. C. In the evening they drove to Minden to see the na tionally famous lights of Min den which has given the town the name of the Christmas city. The Triple B club met at the home of Duane Ahrends Dec. 12. There were five members and three visitors present. Mrs. Ah rends served refreshments. The Elwood Pankonins were at the C. J. Pankonin home Christmas. They drove to Sut ton on Christmas to be dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Pan konin's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Pape. Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Bram mer left Friday for Indianap olis, Indiana, to spend the Christmas holiday with their daughter, Miss Gertrude. Work of remodeling the Louis ville theater is almost finished Louisville will then have a very neat, up-to-date little picture theater. Kenneth Graham has been home the past week from Rapid City, South Dakota, where he is stationed with the air forces. He is spending his 20-day leave with Ernest H. Graham and family. Rev. Richard W. Dinsdale, former pastor of the First Meth odist church here, now pastor at Imperial, Nebr., was one of the male soloists at the Imperial community chorus. The chorus consists of 55 voices. L. J. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church last Wed nesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Frederick William Rieke, who had passed away in Cali fornia, several days before. Rev. Roy P. Morris, of Murray, con ducted the service. Dale Wol farth sang "Sometime We'll Understand" and 'Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Phyllis Rieke was the pianist. Pall bearers were John Cnristenscn, Carl Cross, Delbert Todd, Char les Swan, Hall Pollard, and Sterling Harris. Burial was in East Union cemetery. Sincerest sympathy is extended to the Rieke family. Union high school students were out caroling last Thurs day evening. After leaving town they visited two members of the high school who have been con fined to their homes: Gene Her man and Donald Bcccard. Shirley Lee gave the thrilling story of "Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer". Another group of students sang a num ber. Barbara Garrenes gave 'Twas the Night Before Christ mas" Charles James and Clif ford Rogers and kept us in stitches as they sang "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Cocoanuts" and "I Never See Maggie". A group of carols was then sung by the high school students. Of course the exenange oi guts was a very exciting part of the program, too. And last, but not least. Santa appeared for a few words of good cheer. The Christmas program at the Rlethdcist church was well at tended and in spite of colds and flu, the program was very good. The choir folks helped out nice ly with several sDccial numbers. We were especially pleased to have Mary Ellen Williams favor us with two flute solos. She was accompanied by her mo ther.
