Mrs. Selma Nelson and son, Eddy, of Lincoln, were guests Monday evening for dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al bert Johnson. They were on their way to Murray, where they will spend Christmas. Mr. and Mrs Adam Cook and son, Roy, of Weeping Water, and Rev. Ray Branson callod at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdock, Sunday after noon. Supt. and Mrs. Krong and daughter visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Krong at Clarks, and with her parents Mr. and Mrs. James Arnold at Palmer, Sunday. Supt. Krong"s mother, Mrs. M. W. Krong, has been ill and the trip was made especially to visit her. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Beatty and Presley Walters were dinner guests Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bennett at Nebras ka City. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Weller of Omaha were euests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Win. Obernolte. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Pollard will leave Friday afternoon for Fairfield. Iowa, where they will spend the Christmas holidays with their daughter, Mrs. T. J. Pollard and family. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bridenstine called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vogler at Weeping Water, Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Waldo of Union called at the home 6f her parents. Mrs. Charles Bates enter tained the Nehawka Extension club at a Christmas party afc her home Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Jack Lindsey reviewed the book. "The Doctor Has Three Faces" by Mary Bard. There was a gift exchange. Gerald Kime, Ivan and Mere- J dith Keene arrived on Thurs day from Beaumont, California Ivan and Meredith came to at tend thp funeral services of their father. O. Keene, at Union Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Sar- kowski and Chester Wischmey- er of Omaha were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Kime. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lindsey and family called at the home of Mrs. Herman Rieke at Union Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Lindsey spent the day Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Englekemeir at Murray. The choir members of the I Methodist church held a suc j cessful bake sale Saturday at j Whipple's hardware store. The j proceeds will be used for music ' for the choir. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ileesch called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Shomaker in Lin coln, Saturday evening. The Sunday School classes of the Methodist church present ed a program of recitations and music at the church on Sunday evening. The choir consists of 21 children from the seventh through the twelfth grades. Mrs. Ivan Hansen is director and Mrs. Elmer Ross accompan ist. They sang "The Star of the "East" and "Christmas Voices". Santa Claus was pres ent to give treats to the child ren. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Wilhelm of Dunbar called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Heesch Sunday afternoon. M ' Sattler Funeral Home I Cattle Off, Hogs Gain At Omaha A live stock run totalling 40, 000 and including over 30.000 on sale. Monday gave Omaha top rank among the major markets. Fat cattle trade was slow and unevenly steady to mostly 25 50c lower, bulk $22.00-$26.00, bet ter yearlings and steers to $30.00-$31.00, quotable steer top $41.00, heifers to $25.00, plain shortfeds $18.00-$21.00. Cows sold weak to 25-50c lower, can ners and cutters $11.00-$13.25, beef to $16.00, odd head $17.00. Bulls sold steady to 50c lower, good bolognas' $I7.50-$18.00, a few $18.25. Vealers brought $20.00-$26.00. Early sales of stockers and feeders at $20.00 $23.00 were steady, later trade dull and tending lower. Stock calves brought $18.00-$24.00, some held higher. Stock cows brought $15.00-$16.50. Hog trade was active, butchers strong to 25c higher, 180-360's $14.50 $15.75; sows 25-50c up, $12.50 $13.50, stags $8.50-$10.00. Fat lambs sold steady, those up to 100 pounds $22.00-$22.50, and heavier $19.50-$21.50. Slaughter ewes at $8.00-$10.50 were steady; likewise 82-pound Western feed er lambs at $23.00. Among recent sales at Omaha for shippers from this area: Lloyd Thomassen, 9 steers and heifers, wt. 752, $23.00. Rudolph Wulf, 36 hogs, wt. 229, $15.50. Vincent Rehmeier, 58 hogs, wt. 258, $14.75. Steckley Hybrid Corn Co., 51 hogs, wt. 232, $15.00. the past week. She is showing improvement. Mrs. Sterling Ross, and daugh ters, Norma and Shirley, spent the week end with her mother, Mrs. A. A. Harold, Joanne, Ruth and Jim my Kellogg spent Saturday af ternoon at the DeWey Moore home. B. E. Evans Visits Local C. A. C. Group Wednesday afternoon Lieut. Burrell Evans, of the Civilian Air Corps was in the city from Bellevue, to visit for a few hours with old friends and looking after some matters with the local patrol of the organ ization. Lieut. Evans is keeping up his great interest and work in the C A. C. and also is assisting in coaching at Bellevue high school, where he was working with the football team the past fall and getting it into shape ror the very fine season that they enjoyed. He is also work ing with the basketball sauad that is starting out in excellent shape. L.ieut. Evans is a former mem ber of the Plattsmouth school faculty and served here in the athletic training department. Former Union Lady Married at Omaha Dorothy Foster Houston, dau ghter of R. E. Fester, prominent Liberty precinct farmer, and Leon Richards, of Omaha, son of Ms. May E. Richards Fort Scott, Kansas, were married on Sunday afternoon in the Unit ed Presbyterian church at Om aha, by the Rev. Frank C. Black. The attendants at the wedding were Mrs. Earl Lyman and John L. Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Richards are taking a short wedding trip and on their return will be at home at 901 South 54th street, Omaha. The bride is a niece of R. J. Larson of this city.
