The members of Our Lady of Lorctta Court of the Catholic Daughters of America held their annual Christmas party on Fri day evening at the attractive home of Mr. and Mrs. John Berg man in the north part of the city. The home had been most attractively arranged with the Christmas decorations featuring the traditional tree and the Crib." The evening was much en joyed by all of the group at cards, the winners being Mrs. Philip Lepert. pinochle; Mrs. Clarence Cuthrcll, bridge, and Mrs. Robert Whalen, rhum. At an appropriate time Santa Claus arrived on the scene and was a real jolly Santa, leaving the array of presents that were given out to the members of the party. The toys prepared by the ladies will be sent to the St. Thomas orphanage in Lin coln. . Ruth, of this city, announced themar riage Saturday of their -daughter, Alberta, to Dr. Robert R. Lynn, of Rock Rapids, ; Iowa, a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Lynn, Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple were married; November 4, 1949 at Norfolk, Nebraska. Dr. Lynn is a graduate of the University .of Nebraska col lege of medicine, his wife a graduate from the Clarkson hospital school of . nursing. They plan to make their home in Rock Rapids. Mrs. Lynn is a graduate of the Plattsmouth high school in' the class of 1946 and Prom queen of that year. Dr. and Mrs. E. O. Schlichte meier, of Petersen, Iowa, were visiting home folks over Sun day. CoU Ch t liberal Trtf-in 0r Auxiliary OftheV.F.W, Holds Party The Auxiliary to the Lepert Wolever post of the Veterans ! of Foreign Wars held their reg- ular meeting at the VFW club Thursday nieht with a large membership attending. The club rooms were Deaun fully decorated' in keeping with the holiday season, underneath the Christmas tree at one end of the hall were gifts for the members. The decorating committee. Helen Nierste, Bertha Daven port, and Alpha Muncie, were complimented for their decor ative artistry. . The business meeting was con ducted by the president, So phia Wolever. Six new members were initi ated into the Auxiliary with the fitting ceremonies. Dnp resoects were given Na tional Council member, Maude Rvan: of Atlantic City, New- Jersey, who was a victim of the aid force Constellation crash on October 28th. ; Hospital chairman. Vera War ga, gave a very interesting re port on the Bingo party that was given by the Lepert-Wolever post at the U. S. Veteran's hos pital at Lincoln. The club members decorated many toys for the veteran's children that will be sent to the hospilal by the hospiltal chair man. These toys are free to, the veteran, the men select the toys they want and send them to their families in Platts mouth. District No. 6 officers have been asked to institute the new Auxiliary at Bellevue on Dec. 14th at 8 p. m. at the school house in Bellevue. All who wish to attend may do so and post members may also attend as this will be open installation. Sophia Wolever and Vera Warga called on Edna Meising er who is ill and could not be present at the meeting. Mrs. Meisinger presented a beauti ful tray to the president, who in turn presented it to the Auxiliary. Mrs. Meisinger was chairman of a dinner given by the Stainless Steel Co., and sponsored by the Auxiliary. The prize given at each meet ing was awarded to Alpha Mun cie. The meetin closed with Mar jip Willis, junior vice-president, Elaine Steppat, senior vice president and June Kearns. banner bearer, conducting the Christmas program. Gifts were distributed, games played, and the first snow of the season came for the Christmas party. Refreshments of candwiches, potato chips, cranberry salad and coffee were served and favors of candy Christmas trees were given by the hostesses. White at 2 p. m. The Gleaners will meet with Mrs. Lowell Mc Quin at 8 p. m. Christmas Party of Legion-Auxiliary Sunday evening the American' Legion club house on highway. No. 75, south of the city, was j the scene of a very delightful' party arranged by the ladies of the Auxiliary. This was in the nature of a Christmas party and opened with a covered dish dinner at 6:30, the ladies providing a very delicious meal that was enjoyed to the utmost by the large num ber that were present. The club had been very at tractively arranged in decora tions of the Christmas season, the Christmas tree and the Christmas colors being used in arranging the spacious room. Following the dinner the mem bers of the Auxiliary staged their gift exchange among the mem bers that was a very delightful part of the evening program. Games were also enjoyed by the members of the group until the arrival of the homegoing hour and it was voted one of the most pleasant events that has been held at the club. Election Held by Presbyterian Ladies The members of the Federa tion of the First Presbyterian church held their election of officers at the meeting held in the church on Wednesday, De cember 7th. with the following bein named: President Mrs. P. T. Heine man. First Vice-President Mrs. Henry Donat. Second Vice-President Mrs. Wayne Propst. Third Vice-President Miss Helen Hunter. Secretary Mrs. W. E. Hickey, Treasurer Mrs Paul Jahrig: Following the regular business session the ladies were enter tained in a short concert by th? boy's glee club of Plattsmouth high school under the direction of David Fowler, head of the music department of the school. There are twenty-two voices in the group and they gave a fine entertainment. Refreshments were served by members of Circles three and four. Musical Group Has Fine Musical Treat The entertainment staged by the music department of the Plattsmouth city schools, under the direction of David Fowler. head of the department, gave two very fine presentations the past week' at the high school auditorium, on Thursday and Friday. The concert gave everyone at tending the opportunity of hear ing all of the musical groups that included the high school tand, the boys glee club of twenty-two voices, the chorus of forty-five voices. The ' full chorus of ninety voices joined in the presentation of the Fred Waring arrange ment of "The Battle Hymn cf the Republic", a great and col orful finale of the evening. BUSINESS VISITORS Friday aftcrno-.n ivlr. and Mrs. Herman Daii, of Manley, were visitors in Plattsmouth for a few hours looking after bus iness affairs and visiting with friends While here Mr. Dgll enjoyed a short visit with Con gressman Eugene O'Sullivan, representative from this dis trict. BEG YOUR PARDON In naming the committee re- l sponsible for the decorations for the Plattsmouth Woman's Club meeting on last Monday, the name of Mrs. Guy G. Griffin was omitted. . Mrs. Griffin was a very active member of this committee and greatly assisted in the arrangement of the holi day decorations. John P. Kethelhut, or Ne hawka, was among the visitors in the city Saturday to look after some matters of business and while here called at the Journal office to renew his sub scription for the ensuing year. Jahrig and Mr. and Mrs. Paul D. Jahrig, has been hon ored at several social gather ing since her arrival on Dec. 3. On Tuesday evening she was ! entertained at dinner by the Paul Jahrigs at their apartment in the Coronado when the guests were Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jahrig, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hiatt, Mis. E. P. Lutz and Mrs. Perkins. On Thursday evening Mrs. Paul Jahrig invited in a group. The guests besides Mrs. Perkins were Mrs. Robert Cappell, Mrs. Phil ip Keil, Jr., Mrs. Robert Painter, Mrs. D. M. Clifford, Mrs. L. D. Hiatt, Mrs. W. L. Heinrich. and I the Misses Helen Smetana, Wil- helmina Hendricksen and MU dred Fischer. The evening was spent listening to recordings made by Mrs. Perkins while in California and to hearing about her native land. She had many pictures of her family and Aus tralian scenes which were all very interesting. The guests surprised Mrs. Perkins with a handkerchief shower. The host ess served delicious refresh ments at the close of the eve ning. On Friday evening the R. C. Jahrigs entertained for their guest, inviting Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Drozynski and son, Mrs. Etta Gorder, the Robert Painteis, Mrs. Minnie Lillie and the Paul Jahrigs. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Heinrich were hosto to the Jahrigs and their guest for the evening. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jahrig entertained a family group at dinner. Invited guests were Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hiatt, Mrs. E. P. Lutz, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jahrig, Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Painter and family, Mrs. Minnie Lillie, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Steinkamp and family and Aug ust Doering of Omaha. Mrs. Fred Mumm was an afternoon caller. This (Monday evening) the L. D. Hiatts are hosts to a small group of the family and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cappell. wlvle the Robert Painter family will entertain for Mrs. Perkins on Tuesday. Mrs. Perkins is departing Wednesday morning for Beten dorf, Iowa, where she will spend the Christmas' season following which visit she will continue on her tour of the U. S. visiting "h'r boys." Bill Lockhart, who has been engaged in electrical and radio school in eastern Iowa, has re turned home and will visit here with his parents and many friends for the Christmas sea son. The organizations of the city raise a large number of toys and other articles for the little ones and families, that are turned over to the welfare office to be handled, but the workers there, find that while they are able to contact those on the rolls, they are missing many deserving cases and homes, that really need more of the' Christmas spirit. A letter to box -257 at the postoffice can give the cqm mittee and others information as to those who need something to make Christmas brighter. . Children are urged to let their wants or expectations be known by writing box 257 and efforts will be made to try and give a helping hand for a happier Christmas day.
