R. is sponsoring a child in this school. They pay the tutition, board, room and clothe the child. This girl is 13 years old and has had an opportunity to a. tend schcoi for only two years. She is now in the second grade. Refreshments were serv ed. Mrs. Ixn Hxnsen and Mrs. E.mer Rcss have organized a Junior choir of twenty mem bers at the Methodist church. Mrs. Mary',Volkmer and Har- was served at the close of the fun. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Renner are the parents of a son, born Oct. 8, at the Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Richard Brown left Saturday on the U.S.S. Eldorado for a trip to Pearl Harbor. He expects to be there about one month and then return to the States. Then in January he expects to leave for Panama, where he will spend about a month. Dickie Larson, who has been in the Children's Hospital in Omaha for the past month, be ing treated for polio, has re covered enough to be brought home. Mr. and Mrs. Don Urvin have started to build a new home. The basement has been dug out on their lots in the south part of town and when that is com pleted, they will move into it and rent their present home until spring, when it will be torn down and the material used in the new house. Mrs. J. B. Larson entertained at dinner at 7:Q0 o'clock Thurs day evening, Oct. 13, in honor of the 17th birthday of her daughter, Shirley. The guests were Norma Jean Ahl, Ruth Schroeder, Myrna Ingram. Lor raine Wheeler, Connie Funke, Dora Lue Alfrey, Joan Hochel and Midge Proctor. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Busche of Schuyler spent Friday in Louisville visiting relatives and friends. While here Mr. Busche took care of some plumbing work at the home of Mrs. Kathryn Reichart. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Lundteigen Jr. returned home Tuesday from a week's vacation which hey soent on the west coast. Ed Eager of Fremont, father of the late C. A. Eager of Louis ville died at Fremont late Sun day where he has made his home for several years. He was 87-years-old. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fremont. Mr. and Mrs. Alian Snyder of Omaha visited Alan's parents, Dr. and Mrs. Snyder, Sunday. Mrs. Alma Vanscoyoc was laid in her final resting place Sunday afternoon at 2:30 She passed away Thursday night at the University Hospital in Oma ha, where she had been for sev eral weeks. Alma Brodine was born in Stockholm, Sweden, August 23, 1878 and came to the United States with her parents A classified Ad in The Journal when she was about two years costs as little as 35c. old.
