Thejnai Murtey The Jolly Health 4-H Club held their Achievement Day pro gram Tuesday afternoon at the home of their leader, Mrs. J. M. Ranney. Six members of the club were present, and their mothers and prand mot hers were their quests. The class complet ed their first year of Keep Well study, and they reviewed their pledge, their club sons:, their club motto, and displayed their colors and their emblem for the gues's. Peggy Bcardman pre sented their "Keep Well"' prob lems; Ruth Jones discussed tiv right and the wrong kind of shoes which should be worn. Alice Marie Wiles gave a fine talk on the subject of "Posture" and Beverly Ann Miller and Ruth Ann Herman illustrated the cor rect wav to make a bed and also the core of a bed. Mavonne Johnson talked about "Good Sleeping Habits." Tbe prooram closed with their "Thank You" sontr. after which Mrs. Ranney presented eah member with a p.ifl. Mrs. Thomas Murtev pre sented certificates to the leader, the assistant leader, and to pi eh jimber. as well as to the club. The club members then sur prised their Ipacler with the Pift of a beautiful flower holder. Ther was a. disnlav of the Health booklets which the club had made durin; th vpar. and a delightful lunch of several va rieties of sandwiches, cookies a 'id fan?v cakes were served with coffee or oranee juice. Again was the usefulness of the 'are? auditorium proven Tuesdav evening when the Order "f the Rainbow Girls. The putting of two and two together on a black board is followed by put ting two and two together in the market place. History may be studied, but its sig nificance is realized only as life translates it. Visitors were pres ent from Nehawka. Elmwood and Avoca. Beverly Bcnner, Worthy Advisor, welcomed the guests, and Margaret Knabe presented the American flag. Evelyn Laur itzen presented the Rainbow flag. William Hobson, Rainbow Dad, introduced the installa tion officers. Beverly Bonner was the installing officer, and Shirley Doty was the installing Marshal. They first installed Carolyn Kunkel as the new Worthy Advisor for the coming months and her twenty assisting i officers. Two special musical j numbers were enjoyed. They were a vocal solo, "The Lord's Prayer", by Malaine Wrifrht and a flute solo, by Dorothy Kunkel. The Worthy Advisor's mother, Mrs. L. N. Kunkel was taken for ward and introduced and pre sented with a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Ruth Norris, Mother Advisor, presented merit ars. and the members of the ad visory board were introduced. They are Ray Norris, William Hobson. Mrs. Leila Fernbaugli. Oscar Domingo, Mrs. Richmond Hobson. Mrs. A. C. Petersen and Clifford Cooper. The auditorium was profusely decorated with spring flowers. These combined with the rainbow colors of the evening irowns made a delightful pic ure long to be remembered. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Day had as their dinner guests Tuesday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. T. Huh Han alan and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd P. Wolcott. Another of -their delightful ' Family Night Dinners" was held at thp Methodist church Monday evening with about one hundred guests present. It was also a re cemion for new members. After a bounteous basket dinner, they were entertained with a musical program opening with a number by the boy's robed choir. Schliefert's Iris Gardens have j attracted many of our people during the iris season. Among those who visited them Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Markland and Miss Imo Heebner. Mrs. Fred Gorder came from : Grand Island when her daughter, Miss Helen, came to attend the : Alumni banquet and she remain : ed here until after Decoration Day. Mrs. Edna Shannon returned to Grand Island with Miss Gor der for a weeks visit with her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wahlouist. Mr. and Mrs. James Wolcott have announced the birth -of a son, weight seven pounds and 13 ounces, at Lincoln General hos pital. Wednesday morning. May 25. The babv has been named James Patrick Wolcott. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd P. Wolcott are the baby's grandparents. It is good to know that our friends. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Steck lev. are back at their Weeping Water home, after an absence of about a vear, which was spent in California. Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wolcott, LeRoy Kirk and Mrs. Doris Norris took Rod ney Jones to Omaha.- They all nioved a dinner together and a good movie afterward, returning home late in the evening. Mr. Toms remained in Omaha to take a plane for New Jersey Thurs day morning after a months visit at the Wolcott home. Judge and Mrs. Leon Merrick, of Osceola, are expected here to snend Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eusene Day. Mrs. Paul Walker took her Sunday School class to Lincoln Tuesday for a davs sightseeing. The mothers of the members of the class were also invited and the mothers of the Ruth circle. About 40 were in the group, and they all thoroughly enjoyed the outing at Antelope park and watching the animals in the zoo logical gardens. Mrs. J. M. Ranney went lo Blair Thursday for a two day visit at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lingo. Mr. and Mrs. Troy Jewell spent the day Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Parr Young and Tuesday they visited their son, Lyle Jewell and wife, in Lincoln. Mrs. Murray Mutter went to Wymore Tuesday to attend the graduation exercises of the Wy more schools and to see her niece, Betty Sparger, graduate. Mrs. Owen Welch was hostess , at the regular meeting of the Bide-A-Vee Club at her home Tuesdav afternoon. Lee Holden arrived here Tues day from his home in Covina, California for an extended visit with his sisters, Mrs. C. C. Bald win and Mrs. Stephen Ambler and their families. Mrs. William Moulden was taken to Lincoln Thursday to the home of her son and his wife. Mrs. Moulden has not been well for the past few weeks and it was decided to take her to Lin coln for medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wolcott and two daughters. Maxine and Olive, and LeRoy "Kirk, who have all been guests at the L. P. Wol cott home this past week, left Thursday for a visit with rela tives in Fairbury. They will re turn to Weening Water for a longer visit before leaving for their home t Huron. S. D. Chapter BT, P. E. O. met Fri day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Victor Wallick. Mrs. Cyrus Livingston and her daughter, Mrs. Donald Schultz, entertained at a Miscellaneous shower for Miss Charlotte Rieke. at the Livingston home Tuesdav evening. Miss Rieke. a bride of the near future, received some verv beautiful gifts as a happy reminder of the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morris. This park is already pnuioned with lights, seats, and ball nark, and it has plenty of parking snace, and is an ideal athletic field, although further away from the school house, it i? pouinoed and readv for use.
