Sunday where they attended the funeral of Frank Franzen, brother of Henry. Mrs. Clyde Bogard was honor ed by a miscellaneous shower in the church parlors Friday, Riven by Mrs. J. V. Erendle and Mrs. Maude Ruhge. The recent bride received very nice gifts. Mrs. Ernest Morris and Mrs. Calvin Carsten honored Miss Lois Gunn with a miscellaneous shower in the church parlors Saturday. Miss Gunn is to be married to Raymond Wellman on May 16th. Dr. and Mrs. Brendle and H. H. Marcjuardt were up to see Mrs. Marquardt at the St. Catherine's hospital Sunday. Mrs. Flaxhead c: Smith Cen ter, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Larger. I Norman Schutz. she was un fortunate to fall off the ladder she was standing on and frac tured her elbow. She was taken to an Omaha hospital. The household effects of the late Peter Jorgensen was sold Thursday at their farm home. Mrs. Fred Ruhge has been very ill with the mumps. Margem Nutzman, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hil verd Nutzman, near Otoe, was badly bitten by their pet dog Saturday. Miss Met a Mueller is install ing a weather system in her home this week. Wednesday evening about 9 o'clock the fire whistle blew and a small fire had started in the back of the McDonald groc ery and locker plant. It was quickly put out by fire exting uishers. Several boxes of groc eries were damaged by water. The origin of the fire was not known. Mrs. Albert Carr and Mrs. Susan Carr were hostess to the Ladies Aid Thursday in the church parlors. Mrs. Wm. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Emshoff, Mr. and Mrs. John Emshoff and Anna Mae, Mr. and Mrs. Clar ince Koester and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Minderman and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Will horn attended the wedding of Miss Gertrude Wassman to Ed ward Koester al Ormsby. Minn., April 23th. Mr. and Mrs. James Wolcott of Sioux City, Iowa, visited her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gollner. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Behrns are having a new roof put on their heme this week. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman, Marilyn and Richard, Mrs. Bes sie Gruden. Myron Schroeder were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Halm near Syracuse. On Monday, Cheryl Holm spent the day at her grandparents while her parents went to Omaha. CUvD Berdina Kueter j Mrs. Kathrine Swartz is on the Alvo sick list this week. Mr. and Mrs. Mart Nickle and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hard nock plan on leaving for Cali fornia on Monday. Lafe Mullen is now able to be up and around. Averil Clark was at home a few days this last week. A former resident of Alvo, Mrs. Grace Pollei of Rosebud, Texas, won a Mixmaster Elec tric mixer on the KFAB Farm Service contest. Mrs. Pollei's parents live in Alvo. The Junior-Senior banquet was held at Cotner Terrace, April 29th. The theme of the banquet was "Schooldays." 13 pupiis and teachers were present. Mrs. Esther Clark and boys visited at the Gering home in Unadilla, Sunday. Ray Gene Rosenow had the misfortune of falling and break ing his collar bone, one day last week. Mrs. Don Skinner and Bon nie Marcoe was in Lincoln Thursday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kellogg and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Moore and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Rueter and Jay spent last Sunday at the Fred Rueter home. h T jT O r fl TP.
