Under the direction of Ernest Brod, rur al division head, the students will have the opportunity to know and understand the rural classroom teaching situation be fore entering the field. Under the guidance of the reg ular teacher, each student will lie given an opportunity to observe and to teach. Most of the week period will be spent in observa tion to get the daily program in mind, how much time is spent in different classes, what texts and materials are used, how the classes are carried on' and what assignments are made. After this" observation, the students will be given a chance to do the actual teaching. Leroy Covert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Covert. Sr., has ; been home this week for a visit with his parents and old friends. He is on furlough from his post at Fcrt Belvoir, Virginia, where he is now stationed as a mem- : ber of the army engineers. During World War II Leroy was in service as a member of the naval forces of the country and on -his discharge he later enlisted in the army and has since been located at the Vir- i ginia post. You can k SM..ikstiniouSC V-7 mm Soli in idfmann Junior Woman's Club Sponsors 1949 Style Show The members of the Junior Woman's club of this city spon sored the spring and early sum mer style show in this city on Monday evening at the main dance hall at the 40 & 8 club house, an event that was quite largely attended and of much in terest. The hall had been arranged most attractively in a color scheme of pink and green and furnished a charming scene for the showing of the new gar ments for the summer, as shown by the models for the various business houses of the city. The show was given a musical setting by Mrs. David Fowler at the piano, playing as the various groups appeared to show the latest and most attractive in wearing apparel. The Wee Wardrobe made a showing of little girl's dresses and play suits and were repre sented by Nancy Hirz, Marylin Arundel, Gay Gansemer. Wescott's had a showing of boy's overcoats, dress suits and Dlay suits that were modeled by Francis Lebens and Tom Smith. The Ladies Toggery had a showing of coats and suits and matching accessories that were shown by Vera Lewis. Margaret Cadwell and Alice Jayne Gross hans. Socnnichsen's had showing of suits and coats and a special showing of matching garments by Mrs. Jean Lockin and son. Dannv. The store was renre sented in the modeling by Shir ley Jacobs, June Jacobs and Mrs. Lockin and Dannv. The Style Shop had a showine of suits, coats and accessories that were presented by Helen Ann Bealey, Dorothy Capnell. Beverly Propst and Eleanor Nu seck. Miss Doris Nelson served as the chairman of the committee that made the presentation of the show and with th other mem bers of the committee had ar ranged a most delightful and worthwhile show. Mrs. Eldon Meisinger Honored at Shower The parlors of the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church was the scene Saturday evening of a very attractive shower arranged for Mrs. Eldon F. Meisinger, formerly Miss Eva Zikmund, of Omaha. The shower was arranged by relatives and friends and in hon or of the event of guest of honor received a large number of bau tiful and attractive gifts. Games were enjoyed during the afternoon and the winners were Mrs. Raymond Hild. Mrs. Elmer Stoehr. Mrs. Catherine Kintz. Mrs. Fred Hild. Refreshments of jelly roll and whipped cream, mints and coffee was served, during the afternoon. Mynard Farm Unit Meet at Wiles Home The Mynard unit of the Cass county Farm Bureau met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wiles on Wednesday, April 6th. The members of the group enjoyed a number of musical selections as a part of the eve ning entertainment and this was followed by the business meeting of the organization. The members of the group were delightfully entertained by motion pictures made by Mr. Wiles while on a vacation trip to Cuba and New Orleans that proved most interesting as it showed many places of historic interest. Presidio Park, above Old San Diego, is the site of the first white settlement on the west coast of the United States. Smetana, son of Mrs. Alice Smetana and W. E. Sme tana, both of Wichita, Kansas. The Rev. Ting Chompaie per formed the double service at the candlelight ceremony held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Pau; McManess, residence of the bride, February 12, 1949 at 6 p.m. Mrs. -PauL McManess had charge of the nuptial music, playing "I Love You Truly." The bride, given in marriage by Paul McManess, was attired in a champagne suit with navy blue accessories. She wore a cor sage of Tailsman rosebuds. Mrs. James Meredith attended the bride as matron of honor, wearing a blue dress with black accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Mr. James Meredith served the groom as best man. Mrs. Capper chose for her daughter's wedding a black dress with black accessories and a pink rosebud corsage. Mrs. Alice Smetana wore a blue dress with black accessories and a pink rose bud corsage. A reception followed the wed ding ceremony. Reservations were made at the Park cottage cafe for the bridal dinner at 8 o'clock. Guests attending the wedding were: Mrs. Cleo Cap per and son. Glenwood Student Receives Award The University of Nebraska Business Administration college this past week gave recognition to fifty-two top ranking scholars of the college at the annual hon ors dinner of the organization. Governor Val Peterson was the speaker at the dinner and Prof. Karl Arndt presided over the occasion. Eleven students were awarded William Gold Pj;ize Keys, given annually by Nathan Gold. Lin coln business man, in honor of his father. The keys go to the students with the highest scho lastic average in the freshman class. Amopg those receiving the Gold Key was Orrin C. Oster holm. of Glenwood. son of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Osterholm, of Glenwood. Mr. O. C. Osterholm is the plant foreman at the Plattsmouth Journal. Mrs. Mary Baird, who spent the winter in the Dooley home, re turned to Darrnett, Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dooley left the last of the week for Senaca, Oregon, to hold meetings for Floyd Daniels. ENTERTAINED ON COAST Mr. and Mrs. Charles Petersen were house guests over the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mullen at San Diego, California. Mr. and Mrs. Mullen, Mr. and Mrs. Lon Henry, entertained Mr. and Mrs. Petersen at dinner on Sunday, April 10, at Mr. and Mrs. Henry's home, followed by pi nochle. Guests v eluded also were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bourne, Gary and Mary Ellen. Mr. Pe tersen took first prize and Mr Mullen second for the men and Mrs. Bourne and Mrs. Henry were winners for ladies. RETURNS FROM HOSPITAL Mrs. Meddie Baltazor of this city, who has been at the St. Mary's hospital at Nebraska City for the past week has re turned home. She underwent a major operation while at the hospital and is now getting along fine. Breakfast Club Holds Fine Meet The Plattsmouth Credit Wom an's Breakfast club held their meeting Tuesday at the main dining room of the Rainey Cof fee shop with some fourteen of the members present to enjoy the unusually pleasant affair. The dinner was an excellent one and comprised the tradi tional Easter ham and all of the accessories. The lesson of the evening, "The Credit Bureau and the Credit Department," was given by Mrs. L. B. Dalton and was most interesting, as it described the work of the bureau and its aid to the credit departments of the stores. Special Easter treats were pro vided by Mrs. R. A. Bates, Mol lie C. Gobelman and Mrs. Emma Bauer Egenberger to add to the pleasures of the occasion. St. Marys Guild and Auxiliary Meet The Woman's Auxiliary and St. Mary's Guild of the St. Luke's Episcopal church met on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Henry Harold with a very pleasing attendance of the ladies of the society. Mrs. Mont Loff of Omaha, a member of the deaf mission at Omaha with Mrs. Wilder of Omaha, were also here and gave short talks on the work of the deaf in Omaha and vicinity.
