THE PLATTSMOUTH, NEBRASKA, SEMI-WEEKLY JOURNAL PAGE FOUR Thursday, February 24, 1949 Mrs. Bessie Core Miss Cornie Wendt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wendt, of Louisville, and Mr. Milford L. Tressler, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Tressler of Delta, Iowa, were united in marriage at eight o'clock, February 8, 1949, at the Christian parsonage in Delta. The Louisville firemen held their annual dinner at the City Hall Sunday evening. The fire men, with their ladies and guests numbering some 46 peo ple sat down to a turkey dinner which was prepared by Floyd Erickson and Clyde Ahl. David Sjogren, who has been Fire Chief for the last twenty two years was presented with a pen and pencil set, occasion of his retiring from office. Mr. and Mrs. George Riehart and family moved Friday from the farm southeast of town to the Schlater place in town. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stohl man and family have moved to Tonight? Maybe! The Jim Lisle family are moving in from the Welch farm to the Stohlman place which they recently bought. The Louisville Fire Depart ment has a new Fire Chief, Mr. John Kahland, with Mr. Fran cis Schoeppner as his assistant. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Masters have sold their home, the for mer Tthel Ossenkop place, to Elmer Sprieck. The deal was completed last week. Robert Stander attended the Hardware Men's convention in Omaha Tuesday. A. R. Straner attended Wednesday and Thursday. Frank Johnson celebrated his birthdav Friday. Mr. and Mrs. i Harry Johnson and family, Mr. ' and Mrs. Wayne Gess and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Meyers were dinner guests for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. John G. Schoe man celebrated their sixty third anniversary this week. Mr. and Mrs. Orris Schliefert, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schliefert and Mr. and Mrs. John Rohr danz were Sunday evening sup per guests at the Henry Ileil jr. home. Wm. D. Kahler spent Satur day and Sunday in Omaha. Willard McShame came from Lincoln last Saturday for a week end visit at his home. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Diekman were in Omaha on business and shopping Friday. The Misses Paula Poppe and Jeannie Simpson spent the week end in Lincoln with friends last week. Mrs. Lloyd Braack has been confined to her apartment the past week, with the mumps. Parr Young, County Commis sioner from this district, brav ed the roads and drove to Louisville Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. John R. Ash- ! bocher from Omaha spent last week end at the Ashbocher and Heil homes. Wm. On Sun day, Mr. Zaiser caller Germany to find out how she was and was informed of her death. A Sunday school meeting was held Wednesday evening at the Rev.. Will Berger home. Miss Gertrude Hanford of Lincoln was present and exhibited ma terials and supplies and also a movie projector machine which the Sunday school is thinking of buying in the near future. Friends here had word that Jerry Pace, former pastor of the Methodist church and his family will be leaving late this month for Belguim where Mr. Pace will continue his study for the ministry under the GI Bill of Riahts. Mrs. Nile Donnelson and son, Bob, arrived in Louisville Fri day from Seattle, Washington, where they have been making their home for the past year. They are visiting Mrs. Donnel son's sister and family at Ced ar Creek. Nile will arrive later when the weather is better for driving. Arnold Heil was brought home from the hospital in Oma ha last Thursday. He is much improved. Joanne Engelkemier, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Engelkemier of Louisville, has been elected a cabinet number of the Home Economics Club at the University of Nebraska. She is a freshman in the College of Agriculture. The C. B. & Q. section gang have been busy hauling in rock and rip-rapping the recently fixed mill creek bank from the Frank Johnson place to tiie bridge by the depot. Arthur Graham is spending a couple of weeks at Lakeville, Minnesota, visiting an army buddy with whom he served on this side and also over seas. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gottsch moved Saturday from the Lar son property on Main street to the farm near Springfield. Mr. and Mrs. Verle Vogler, who have been living at the Crawford apartments have moved into the house vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Gottsch. Many couples enjoyed the Valentine square dance, which was held at the Legion hall Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Dwane Garrison have rented the place recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Woolhlser and family who have moved to Colome, South Da kota. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sprieck and Judy and Bobby Heil called at the Elmer Sprieck home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Group called at the Ervin Albert home Mon day. A covered dish dinner was held Sunday, February 20th at the North Branch church par lors honoring Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kirkhoff on their 25th wedding anniversary. Rev. His son, Larry, just re cently returned home from the same hospital recovering from a similar operation. Mrs. Robert Mickle returned home from the Nebraska City hospital after being a surgery patient there. She is staying at the home of her granddaugh ter, Mrs. Maynard Bruns. Loren Mickle, Denton, came down and helped Mr. Mickle in her ab sence. Miss Anna Ruhge. who works in Lincoln, fell last week and broke her arm.
