He is to show colored movies and speak about conditions he found in Europe on his recent trip with the group of Midwestern farm ers. This is a timely subject and his talk is attracting consider able attention. The program of the association is. to start at 10:30 a. m. when annual reports will be siven. and RALPH RAIKES two directors elected for three year terms. Directors whose terms expire this year are Her man C. Kupke, of Murdock, and' Cash L. Wiles, of Plattsmouth. Russell Lindskog, humorist, who made such a hit last year, will be on hand to speak on the 'Einstein Theory". Musical enter tainment is to be furnished by the students of the Weeping Wa ter schools. The dinner at noon, will be served by the ladies of the Meth odist church. Plans have been made for the attendance of 250 people from Cass and Otoe counties. George M. Spurlock Retires from Bank George M. Spurlock, former Plattsmouth resident, has for mally retired from his position as a member of the bar in that city. Mr. Spurlock was born in ! Plattsmouth where his family had been among the pioneer residents. He graduated from the DuPauw university in 1892 and then returned to Platts mouth where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burwell Spurlock w ere residing, and started in tne practice of law. He was elertert as county judge of Cass rounty in 1895 and held that office until in 1905 when he moved to York to resume his practice of law, the parents having moved to that city to take over the management of the Mothers Jewels Home, spon sored by the Methodist church. He served as county attorney of York county and attorney of the city of York, building up a large practice in that part of the state especially in probate matters in which he was a mas ter. Mr. Spurlock was honored at a banquet at the Hotel McCloud at York on January 13th. Other guests of the party, arranged by the officials and directors of the First National bank, were Mrs. Spurlock and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Spurlock. Funeral of Aged Man Wednesday Wednesday afternoon funeral services were held at the Cald well funeral chapel on North 7th street for Mark Twain Tompkins, aged resident here, who died suddenly on Sunday at his home on Washington avenue. Dr. H. G. McClusky of the First Presbyterian church, con ducted the services for the de parted. A number of the old friends and neighbors were present for the last rites. The burial was at the Oak wood cemetery at Weeping Wat er. Kenneth Schmitt in the Snow Fields Kenneth Schmitt of this city, a member of the local staff of the U. S. Engineers, is among the engineering force that have been sent into the north and west portions of the state to help get the highways open for travel and opening up the homes isolated by the heavy snow. The engineers with their us ual efficiency have responded to the call of distress and all equipment and men possible were hurried into the storm swept areas.
