t t Mrs. Bessie Core Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mayfield end Miss Olive Heclvall of Omaha were supper guests at the Harold Koop heme one evening this week. Jeses Sell. Sr., and family who have been at Wayne for the past few weeks completing some road work are back in Louisville a gain. Mr. Sell is working in Omaha and near Omaha and will drive back and forth to work. Miss Ruth Kile writes' that she will be working at Onawa, Iowa, this year. She attended school at Wayne this summer. Louisville and vicinity has al ' most been rained out this week. We had a good heavy rain every nite this week up to Friday nite. Mr. and Mrs. Orrie Kuehn and t family are new residents of Louis ville. They moved here last week from near South Bend. The marriage of Miss' Janet Dalrymple, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Dalrymple of Lincoln to Mr. Donald F. Hulfman, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Huffman of Louisville was solemnized Saturday evening, August 7th at the First United Presbyterian church. Both Mr. and Mrs. Huff man are graduates 1'rom the uni versity of Nebraska. Mr. Huff man will work with the Security Mutual Life Insurance Company and Mrs. Huffman will teach mub"ie in the Lincoln schools. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Pankonin and family of Hampstead, Long Island, an ived in Louisville last Saturday for a short vacation with Mr. Pankonins parents, Mr. and Mrs. C, J. Pankonin and oth er relatives. Mrs. Geo. F. Erickson and 3 children of Broken Bow, Neb. ar rived last week for a visit with her parents, Dr. and Mrs'. E. II. Worthman. They returned to their home Saturday p. m. Those from Louisville, who at tended the Dah-ymple-Huffman wedding in Lincoln were: Mr. and Mrs. Forest Brunsbn, Mrs. E. A. Ingram, Mrs. Gail Meisinger, Mr. and Mrs.. D. W. Webb, Mrs. Bedella Stander and Arthur Stander, besides Mr and Mrs. D. C. Huffman. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Pankon in, Dr. and Mrs. H. W. Worth man and Mr. and Mrs". Lester Pankinon were Omaha visitors Thursday night. Louisville won the ball game from Springfield Sunday. Mrs. Earl Hurlbut and Mr. Hurlbut's mother 6f Greenwood, who is visiting at the Earl Hurl but home, called at the Ervin Al bert homeIonday p. m. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Woolhiser are visiting relatives at Colome, South Dak. this week. Mrs. John Ritter, Mrs. James Ingram and Mrs. T. A. Flammant were county seat visitors Friday a. m. Guests at the home of Mrs. Wm. H. Hoover and Grace on Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McArthur and small son Charles. Mr. and Mrs. Ike Speakman and Mrs. Chas. Hoover, all of Nebras ka City. Mrs. E. L. Bradley of Lebanon, Ind. has' been visiting for the past week in the Ivan Thomas and Elinore Saltmarsh homes. Mr. Bradley is Mrs. Thomas' brother. Other guests in the Salt marsh home were Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Collins and children also of Lebanon. Mrs. Jack Wegener and Mrs. Bob Startzer of Louisville visited Thursday p. m. at the Dave Campbell home in South Bend. Sylvia Saltmarsh and Alice Lundtiegen spent a week at Camp Harriet Harding. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hier spent Sunday p. m. at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Emery Hansen and husband near Weeping Water. Dennis Baines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barnes, Sr. was ill last week but is' o.k. now. Mrs. Zulemma Dye of Platts- mouth is spending the days here in Louisville looking after affairs at the Drug store while Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zastera are on a vaca tion. She goes back to Platts mouth at night and Joe Zastera, Jr. helps in the s'tore after he gets thru work in the evening-. Leaves Many to Mourn Losses Lemont Kimble, age 29, of Fre mont who moved "to Plattsmouth recently with many ideas, left last week leaving a bitter taste with many people in this com munity. Kimble informed many persons in this community that he was due a large inheritance from his father's estate and that he came to this community to establish a business and buy a home. Last week he left hurrid ly, leaving behind four 'no fund' checks the largest being $50 and a $89 debt. His wife and child who were left deserted in Plattsmouth with out any funds was taken to Full erton, Nebr. yesterday by a friend. Sheriff Solomon was ad vised that Kimble is an ex combat soldier and is a mental case. Kimble was last seen in Schuyler after leaving Plattsmouth. HERE FROM HOME Mr. and Mrs. Henry T. Woster and children, Stephen and Kar en, of Pickstown, South Dakota, are here for a short visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jahrig and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Woster, as well as other relatives. They are enjoying a vacation trip, stopping in the Black Hills for a snort stay enroute to Platts mouth. Lewis Family Reunion At Nebraska City The Lewis family reunion was held at the Steihhart park at Ne braska City with some forty eight members from Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska in attend ance. The group participated in a breakfast of bacon, potatoes, eggs and coffee cooked over the open fire.. At the noon hour there were many more of the members in attendance and the number was' estimated at seventy-five for the dinner. The officers selected were: Wayne Lewis, Plattsmouth, pres ident; L. L. Lewis of Iowa, se cretary and treasurer. In the afternoon a number of the party enoyed swimming in the pool. In the late afternoon ice cream and cake was served and all de parted planning on being back in 1949. Chas. Kaffenberger Here From the West Charles Kaffenberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Kaffen berger of west of Plattsmouth, arrived home Saturday for a visit here with the many old time friends in the community. Charles is located at Compion, Calif., where he has been work ing and also attending school. HERE FROM AVOCA Mr. and Mrs. John Dankleff and son, Lyle, of Avoca. were in Plattsmouth Saturday for a few hours. Lyle was taking examin ation for a drivers permit to drive from his home, north of Avoca to town where he will at tend school. They report that the rains in their section have been heavy but no apparent damage to the crops. While here they were callers at the Journal to re new for several subscriptions Mrs. C. H. Warner Still Serious The many friends over Cass county will regret to learn that Mrs.. Charles H. Warner, one of the long time residents of this community, is still in very seri ous condition at the family home on North 8th street in this city.
