Sunday, your writer had the pleasure of being the guest of Mr. and Mrs. DeForest Philpot. for dinner, after which we spent the afternoon driving around Cass county and looking at tjhe fine prospects for corn and other crops. Cass county never looked finer. We found traces of much more rain in the north western part of the county. We saw fine fields of oats, and of sweet clover. We saw many fields which had been in native grass for many years, and now fine fields of corn. We saw new paint on many farm buildings, and improvements all over the part of the county north and east of the Philpots, and west to Murdock, through Elmwood, to O street road, and back through Weeping Water. It left us with the same thought that was expressed by an Illinois visitor here recently. It was that in their travels, that from Platts mouth, on, through Cass county, was the most beautiful crops that they had seen. They were most enthusiastic over the future of this county.
