J. Nelson spent the latter part of last week with relatives at Wahoo, Ceresco and Wavorly. Mrs. Fred Root was' hostess to the ladies of the WCTU at her noma on Friday, May 21. Mrs. Clarence Wcstlake enter tamed the East O. Street Home maker's Club at her home for the May meeting. A large crowd gathered at the Methodist church on the evening of May 24. for the last Family Night Supper of the conference year. The gathering also served as a farewell for Rev. and Mrs. Witt and family who are re turning to Michigan early in June. Gifts' were presented Rev. and Mrs. Witt from the congrega tion and also from the mem bers of the Senior Youth Fellow ship. Mrs. Fritz Rohlfs had a Stan ley Products demonstration at her home Saturday. Mrs. Marie Rhemeir of Omaha spent Memorial Day here visit ing friends'. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman returned from Bath, Illinois, Tuesday evening, where they were called by the death of J. D. Strubbe, an uncle of Mr. Mase man. Mr. Strubbe, 91, was born and lived on the same place for his lifetime. He was a brother of the late Mrs. Henry Maseman. The Mother-Daughter tea was held in the church Thursday af ternoon. A play was acted out with the following cast: Mrs. Nancy Carsten as Narrator, Mrs. Albert Shutz. grandmother, Mrs. Carl Freeman. Mrs. Harlan Ma pel, bride and groom, Nora Jean McDonald, boy fishing, Marilyn Hobach, another grand child, Mrs. Nelsen, grandmother, Mrs. Albert Carr. Sally Carsten and Joan Hobach, Marlene Henning'S", sang "Mother." Josephine Mey er, granddaughter, Delores Mey er, accompanied the music. Mrs. Martha Ruge led the devational period. After this prizes were awarded Mrs. Anna Norris, old est mother. Mrs. Sailing, mother of the most daughters. Mrs. Elmer Hepler, had the younges't daughter. Mrs. Marius Nelsen was the youngest grandmother. Mrs. Loyd Ganzel, mother who came the most miles. THOMAS WALLING CO. Mrs. Emil Straub has been dis missed from the Nebraska City hospital. Schuyler Miller received a bad injury while using a power mow er last week, two fingers of his left hand being nearly severed when he reached down to pick up something. However, prompt treatment was given and com plete recovery is assured in time. A family dinner with 25 being present was served on Sundav at the home of Mrs. Ruth Monning. Misses Jessie Bragg and Laura Holderness' were guests. Mrs. Ellen Doug-Ies Pitts and Laura Holderness attended a meeting on Sunday night of their former Wesleyan Sorority at which time Pearl Fosnot. a re turned missionary was the main proEram speaker. Mrs. Alma Murrav Nelson and daughter. Carole of Alliance ar rived on Friday for several days visit at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Dougles. Miss Laura Holderness en joyed a call at the home of Mr. pnd Mrs. Glenn Miller recently. They had been in her homo for throe weeks in New Bern. N. C when Glenn was stationed there in camp, and Laura's Red Cross work center was' there. Mrs. Grace Dickson Keiser, formerly of Elmwood and Wayne, Nebraska, is now making her home in New Jersev. with her son and his two children, the wife and mother now being de ceased. Mrs. C. W. Mr. and Mrs. August Wiikens held open house for Mrs. Wii kens parents. Rev. and Mrs'. H. R. Knosp on Sunday afternoon in honor of the 25th wedding an niversary. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Stock and family of Chicago are here visit ing relatives. Mr. Fred Towle was taken to the Veterans Hospital in Lincoln Thursday afternoon for further treatment. The Rock Island Depot has' had a new coat of paint in the last week, improving its appearance verv much. Funeral Services For Bryant Babe Funeral 'fervicrs w)?rh hrld, on Saturdav morning at 10:30 nt the Caldwell funeral chapel. 7th and Oak street, for Stephen Michael Bryant, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bryant. The services at the chapel were conducted by Rev. Father FJiward C. Tuchek. r stor of the Holv Rosarv church of this citv and the interment was at the Oak Hill cemetery in the west part of the city. Stephen Michael was born May 22, 1948 at the Mercy hos pital at "Council Bluffs and died on June 4, 1948. the span of life being but twelve davs. He was' the grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brvant and Mr. and Mrs. Waller Heil of this city.
