Shirlev and Wi- Mr. and Mrs. Robeit Shumaker and son, Lonnie, will have Christmas dinner at noon on Christmas Day with Mrs. Shu maker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Trunkenbolz, at Eagle. In the afternoon they will trav el to Superior to have another dinner at the home of Mr. Shu maker's mother, Mrs. H. L. Shu maker. The decision was made at the last meeting of the Rural Youth organization, to change the dates of their meetings to the second Monday evening of each month. The next meeting will be held at the American Legion hall in Weeping Water. There will be a family Christ mas tree and a dinner on Christ mas Dav. in the evening, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eueene Cj Ibert. when their children, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Colbert. Mr. and Mrs. Lrnard Doty and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Colbert and two daughters will be their guests. Weeping Water High School basketball team lost, for the first time this year, when they play ed against Avoca Wednesday evening. John Pilling, 80. of Omaha was laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery at Weeping Water, Thursday afternoon beside his wife, the former Martha (Bird) Ilitchman, who preceded him in death. Mr. Pilling had been in poor health for some time, and had been in an Omaha hospital for a month, before his death. Mr. Pilling was secretary treasurer of the Beebe Runyon wholesale furniture store, for many years. He leaves as' sur vivors, one daughter. Ruth. a teacher at Central Hieh School in Omaha, Robert of Minneapolis and Joseph, of Kansas City. His wife was the daughter of pio neer Weening,- Water residents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hitchman and a sister of Mrs. L. P. Wolcott. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray en tertained at a dinner for their D'rner Club last Saturday eve ning when their puesst were Mr. and Mrs. Flovd Hite, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Woods and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Colbert. Mrs. B. M. Hebard. of Council Bluffs, will be the guest of her son, Francis L. Hebard and fam ily, during the holidays. JolU- Mixers Extension Club met Friday for a covered dish dinner at the home of Mrs. Al Nichols. The afternoon was spent with a Christmas program and the exchanging of gifts. The Frank Hunt home will be th-e scene of a happy family gathering on Christmas Dav. when they exDect to have all of their children and their grandchildren at home honoring Maior and Mrs. Marvin Hunt and two children, who are here for the holidays, from Long Branch. Jr.. of Seymore, Iowa; and Meryl Hunt, who is a student at the Universitv of Don Philpot has been quite ill for the tiast week. Renorts are that he is improving slowlv. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lane and family went to Cambridge to spend Christmas with relatives. Weeping Water Rebekah lodge held a short meeting, Thursday evening after which their fami lies arrived for a Christmas oartv together. Carols were sung by the children and by all pres ent, and a Christmas tree and an exchange of gifts made the evening most enjoyable. Lunch was served late in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Peck, of Blair, spent Sunday with Mrs. Peck's mother, Mrs. Vesta Kak er. Christmas guests who are ex pected at the E. B. Taylor home are their children, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Taylor and fpmily. of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Tay lor and family; Mrs. Vesta Bak er and her two sons, Louis and Charles. Mr. and Mrs. Richmond P. Hobson were in Lincoln Friday evening- attending the annual Christmas party of the Shriners. OMAHA PARTIES WED Thursday at the parsonge of the First Methodist church oc curred the marriage of Katherine Kendall and Donald Wiman, both of Omaha. The marriage lines were read by Rev. E. C. Williams, the pas tor of the church. Elizabeth Perry In Vesper Service The members of the Tarkio college choir took part in the vesper service at the United Prsebyterian church at Tarkio on Sundav evening. December 14th. In the large grour was Miss Elizabeth Perry cf this city, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil W. Perrv. graduate of the Platts mouth high school. The choir this year is under the direction cf the popular and capable new head of the music department. Prof. Gavin L. Doughty. Mr. Doughty has ccme from a larger institution in or der that he might work with young people of good back ground and ambitions. The choral program to be pre sented by the chorus mav be heard over radio station KMA at Shenandoah. Iowa, on Christmas night at 11:30. Wreck Brings Charge Of Drunk Driving George Bartek of HOC So. 8th street. Plattsmouth, was return ing home Saturday night from Omaha around 9 p. m. when his car left the road north of Platts mouth and overturned. The car traveled about 170 feet after it left the highway and was heavi ly damaged. Bartek was alone in the car and was brought to Plattsmouth in the Caldwell am bulance, and after a visit to Dr. Brendel's office he was taken home. Later Bartek was taken to an Omaha hospital by the Caldwell ambulance to be cared for. Charges of drunken driving were filed Monday morning in the county court against Bartek by the county attorney. HERE FROM THE WEST James D. Brown, who is at tending school at Farragut, Ida ho, arrived home Sunday to be here for the holidays at the home of his parents. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Brown. Farragut is a familiar place to Jim as he was given his "boot training" there during the war. Charles W. Hula, Jr., who is attending Colorado college at Colorado Springs arrived home Sunday for a visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hula and with his brother Carl Hula. Baumgart Family Meet at Sterling Sunday the members of the Baumgart family met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baumgart and Miss Anna Mae Baumgart. at Sterling, Nebraska, to enjoy their family Christmas dinner. Those attending from Platts mouth were: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Baumgart, Mrs. Rose Baumgart, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Claus, Thy ra Baumgart, WTilbur Claus, and Mrs. Ida Baumgart of Crookston, Nebraska. Miss Anna Mae Baumgart is a daughter of Louis Baumgart of this city. Mrs. Floyd Fulton At Omaha Hospital Mrs. Floyd Fultcn of Mynard is at Clarkson hospital, Omaha, recovering from an appendecto my and gall bladder operation. She will remain there for a cou ple of weeks and then undergo an operation for removal of a goiter. RECEIVES $5 FINE Frank Venula, of Omaha, was arrested Saturday night by the city police and later a charge of indecent exposure was filed in the court of Judge C. L. Graves. The defendant made a plea of guilty to the charge and wras fined S5 and costs for the offense. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Herbster of Falls City spent the week end in this city as guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Herbster, the former a brother of Herman. Ghrish was THE PLATTSMOUTH. Gordon of Omaha entertained a group of friends the past week at a cocktail party at which time the announcement was made of the forthcoming marriage of their I daughter. Harriett Ann Gordon, who wH be married to Robert West Wunderlich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Wunderlich i of Nehawka. on February 7th. The wedding is to take dace at the Trinity cathedral in Oma ha. Miss Gordon attended Mills college in Oakland, California. She is a member of the Omaha Junior league and a former Ak-Sar-Ben princess. Mr. Wunderlich attended the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Sigma Al pha Epsilon. Mr. Wunderlich is a World War II veteran. Miss Gordon will be a guest during the holiday season at the Walter Wunderlich home at Ne hawka as her parents are spend ing the Christmas vacation at Houston, Texas.
