Hoback, all of Cculec Dam. Rev. Victor A. McKeo read the marriase service. Mr. and Mrs. Ilwback an.; well known i:i I the area, the bride being a mem i ber of the 1946 Coulee Dam High ; Schcol graduating class and at present an employee of the Bur : eua of Reclamation. Mr. Hoback graduated from the Grand Cou lee High School in 1945, served in the Merchant Marine during the war in the Pacific Theater. He is employed at the Safeway store in Grand Coulee. The new ly weds will make their home in Coulee Dam. Donald Hoback is a grandson of Mrs. Lizzie Taylor of Union and used to reside in Union be fore going to the west. The lesson on Kitchen Planning was given by Mrs. George Rieke and Jane Paasch. It was decided to hold the Christmas party at the Legion Hall, on Dec. 12th. The members will entertain their families at a "supper party." The Lindsey families held a farewell dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Brannon last Sunday in honor of Roy Lindsey of California, who has been visit ing relatives around Union the past three weeks. Miss Augusta Robb is spend ing a few weeks in Union in her home, but will return to the West again in a short time. Lact Friday evening as Frank Schlichtemier was driving home from Nebraska City, he and an other car were in a collision at the Union Corner on Highway 75. Mr. Schlichtemier was in the hospital at Nebraska City for a couple of days but is now at home. Mrs. Lcspell returned to her home in Missouri after having spent several days in Union vis iting some of her Union friends. She and her husband were resi dents of Union many years ago. The Homa Coming Services were well attended at the Meth odist Church last Sunday. Frank Finch preached in the morning service. lie and P.Irs. Finch were in the Sunday School services later, and also held a short ses sion with the Sunday School teachers and officers. A basket dinner at noon, was enjoyed by a large number and at 2:30 a dedication service for the Me morial Window given by Mrs. G. L. Welch of Omaha in memory of her mother, was conducted by the pastor. Rev. E. C. Williams. The Woman's Societj- of Christian Service met at the church last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Vita Snodgrass was hostess. New officers for the coming year were elected as follows: Mrs. Gerald Paasch, president; Mrs. Lee Faris, vice-president; Mrs. John Christensen, treasur er; Mrs. L. G. Todd, secretary Mrs Donald McQtrn and Mrs. Carl Cross, secretaries of Chris tian Social Relations and Local Church Activities; Mrs. L. B. Mougey. secretary of Spiritual Life; Mrs. Earl Upton, secretary of Missionary Education: Mrs. Herman Comer, secretary of Literature and Publication: Mis. Winnie Crawford, secretary of Supplies. The Union Woman's Club held theij- December meeting at the home of Mrs. Gene Roddy last Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. George Stine was leader of the meeting her topic "Christmas Story"' tak en from one of Bess Streeter Aldrich's bocks called "The Drum Goes Dead." Mrs. Harold Finch sang a Christmas solo and was accompanied on the pi ano by her mother. At the cloe of the meeting the hostess serv ed a lovely lunch in keeping with the Christmas season. Sue was assisted by her daughter, Mary, and sister-in-law, Mr.rgaret Roddy. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd and family and Mrs. L. G. Todd drove to Omaha Thanksgiving morning where Mrs. Todd stop ped at the home of her daughter and family to spend a couple of days. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Todd drove to Des Moines to spend the day with a sister of Mrs. Todd, Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Lor berg. The Thanksgiving dinne r and supper given by the Baptist la dies was attended by a large crowd and the ladies netted a neat sum to be used in the in terest 'of their church. bnivjDjod MRS. Mrs. Monning and Mrs. E Gonzales and other relatives On Tuesday she started on a western trip, when she will visit at Taccma, Washington and go from there to California. Around sixty members attend ed the Eastern Star session on Tuesday evening. Seme were there from near-by towns. The Blackwood Brothers con cert, which was scheduled to be given here on Wednesday eve ning under the auspices of the High School was postponed, ly cause of the icy roads and streets. Also the Woman's Club meeting on Thursday was not held for the same reason. Miss Fern Pearson, music in structor ,was absent from school several days this week because cf illness. Miss Giralda Hayes of Los Angeles and her niece, Mrs. Har vey Wallace and son. Richard, of Long Beach, left for Californ ia on Tuesday after visiting rel atives here. On Wednesday morning, Mrs. John McKay went to Omaha to attend the meeting and banquet of veteran Masons. This organi zation consists of Masons of 25 or more years membership. Mr. McKay has been a Mason for 61 vears. He is visiting relatives in Council Bluffs now. Ilootfoot, for Firemen SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (UP) You might say surburan Alamo Heights firemen are burned up. The night dispatcher received a call and sounded the fire alarm. Before the trucrs reared out of the station, some alert fireman rembered 6116 Broadway was the fire station's address City Bars Union a resolution prohibiting the city from employing any person who is a member of a labor union.
