The election of officers was j held with Mrs. Edward Bcrlctt, I re-elected as president; Mrs. j Joseph Bierl, re-elected as vice- . president; Mrs. Fred Feldhous- ! en, re-elected treasurer, Mrs., j Charles Thomas was named as j the secretary to replace Mrs. j Albert Case, retiring secretary, i Mrs. Fred Rea was elected as j the president of the St. John's guild. Mrs. Fritz Fricke was the ! retiring president of this orguni- j zation. I Plans were completed for the j annual Christmas party that will : be held at the St. John's hall on ', Tuesday, December 16th at 1 p. : m., and will be a covered dish luncheon. Christmas gifts will be exchanged. At the close of the social hour luncheon was served by the hos tesses, Mrs. Walter Smith, chair man; Mrs. Emery Doody, Mrs. Frank Toman, active and Mrs. Henry Lutz and Mrs. M. D. Brown inactive. The special prize was awarded to Mrs. John Bauer, Jr., with Mrs. Albert Altschaffl, Mrs. Anna Pittman and Mrs. Fred Feldhousen winning first, second and third in the games contest. the small Christmas trees of pop corn with green and white marshmallows at each place making a very pretty setting for the party. The ladies enjoyed a business session that was presided over by Mrs. F. P. Busch, president of the club. The members of the club held an exchange ' of Christmas gifts as a part of the program of the evening. The committee in charge of the entertainment was composed of Mrs. L. W. Egenberger, Lu cille Horn Gaines and Ann Hass ler. Mollie Gobelman, one of the active business women of the city was a guest of the club. dially invited to be present. Featured will be the concert band of sixty members and the mixed chorus jof seventy-five singers. Thciand will play a" variety of music and will use to full ad vantage the many new instru ments purchased by both the Band Parents club and private individuals. The chorus will sing , three numbers from the Fred Waring library with other familiar num bers. Credit Women Hold Party The Plattsmouth Credit Wo man's Breakfast club held their Christmas party on Friday eve ning at the dining room of the Rainey cafe with some sixteen of the ladies in attendance at the event. PLATTSMOUTH FOLKS CALL Legion Ladies Hold Meeting The American Legion Auxili ary held their monthly meeting on Thursday at the Forty and Eight club with a good attend ance of the membership pres ent. The business session was pre sided over by Mrs. Alpha Mauzy, unit president. For the Christmas season the ladies were urged to donate gifts of clothing, glass canned food, and toys for the baskets. These donations will be greatly appre ciated and help make the holi day much more pleasant .for many. The Auxiliary voted to join with the Legion in an oyster supper that will be served on Sunday, January 11th, at 5:30 in the afternoon. There were nineteen new members initiated into the Aux iliary with the usual appropriate Ceremonies. During the evening Miss Phyl lis Bourck gave a very dclig-ht-ful vocal number to add to the pleasures of the evening. Mrs. Henry J. Loan & Finance foi Hear Speaker At Youth Meet Representatives of the Youth Fellowship of Christian. Church who attended a youth meet at Nebraska City Saturday, De cember 6th, heard Carroll Lem on, executive secretary of the Nebraska Council of Churches, outline a program whereby Dis ciples youth could assume a wor thy leadership in inter-church activities and fellowship. Com menting upon the desire of early Disciples leaders to work co operatively with other Christian communions, Mr. Lemon pointed out that their spirit was entirely missible with that of the pres ent Federal council and World Council fellowships. The Youth Fellowship meet convened in Nebraska City Christian church at 9:30 A. M. The all-day sessions were con cluded with a consecration service at 7:00 P. M. Plattsmouth church was represented by a delegation of seven young peo ple including; Bonnie Topliff, Beverly Brown, Bill White, Al bert and Betty Brown, David Robinson, and Rev. Sherman R. Cub Mothers Picture Treat The fourth and final meeting of the Cub Mothers was held at the Central School building on Thursday, Dec. 4. This meeting ! was a picture shew and was a ! fine climax to the series of ! meetings which were held in ! past months. The movie showed the Cub in : the Den, the Cub in the Pack, j and the Cub in the Home. Stephen Woster was eligible' to graduate but was unable to attend so will received his advancement at the next meeting. At this same meeting two new Cubs, Murray Mayer and Donald Gerbcling. were taken into the Pack. Theodore Ptak Is Now Home Theodore Ptak, mail carrier on rural route No. , south of this city, is returning the early part of the week from the St. Cath erine's hospital at Omaha. He has recovered in fine shape from an appendectomy and is feeling- in the best of condition but it will be at least two weeks before he is able to resume his duties at the postoffice. Marvin Hcnekc was given a fine of $5 and costs, amounting to $8.50 while August Anderson was fined $10 and costs for the offence. Hhe fine of Heneke was paid and that of Anderson will be laid out. CCTurSswDsser 205 South Seventh Stydio Dial 3909 The Christian Women Honored Christian women were honored for their sacrificial service at a Woman's Day service in First Christian church Sunday, De cember 7th. During the service the Rev. Sherman R. Hanson commended the work of all the women of the church, and asked that four representative women specifically report upon their departmental programs. In reporting on the work of the Ladies Aid, Mrs. E. G. Ofe, pres ident of the group, told of their complete program of work, wor ship, fellowship and service. This group meets weekly for service, monthly for fellowship, and is ever ready to undertake specific jobs of work in the life of the church. Mrs. P. F. Rihn. president of the missionary society, dis cussed the program of that or ganization. She told of its local, state, national and inter-national objectives, and showed how its missionary arm is extended all around the world. Mrs Maxine Keil, Superinten dent of the Junior department of the church school, commended the work of the loyal women who are responsible, as teachers, for the large classes and effec tive work of the educational de partment of the church. She ap pealed, however, for a more complete cooperation upon the part of parents in the tremendous task of giving- proper religious training to the children. Mrs. Clovis Day's statement of the work of the United Council of Church Women dealt with its recent organizati&n, its present program, and its future RETURNS FROM OREGON Mrs. Emma Willis of Union, has returned from Portland. Ore. where she has spent the past three months visiting with rela tives and taking in the points of interest in that section. She has spent the week here with her son-in-law and daugh ter.. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Vallery and family and is now returning to her home at Union to be with the eld friends. Police Ccurt Happenings In the police court of Judge C. L. Young People Married Sunday The marriage of Miss Bonnie Lee Hamblen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell S. Hamblen, to Kenneth M. Wohlfarth, son of Mrs. Jessie B. Wohlfarth, took place Sunday at 12:30, noon, at Papillion. The bride wore a gray wool suit with black accessories as her wedding gown. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Puchards of this .city attended the bridal couple, Mrs. Piichards wore a rose colored wool dress with black accessories. The bride is a graduate of the Plattsmouth high school in the class of 1946 and has been em ployed at the First National bank of Omaha. The groom is a graduate ot the class of 1942 of the Platts mouth high school, and served thirty-seven months with .the Army in the Pacific War theatre.
