Mi. and Mrs. Williard Nelson end Mrs. Andrew Benson of Lincoln spent the weekend with Mrs. Selma Nelson and Eddie. Mr. Howard Hutchman re turned Thursday night from I.ovtland, Colorado where he has been attending the meeting of Nebraska Synod of the United Presbyterian Church. Rev. Mor ris, who also was at the Synod, will remain in Colorado for an other two weeks visiting his son Reed and family who live at Colorado Serines. The A. L. A letter from Don Nelson to his mother tells her of his ar rival in Mexico City. He plans to remain there for some time io study the Spanish language. Don wrote of the beauty of the country and the extreme gra ciousness of the people. Circle 1 of the United Presby- ! tcrian Missionary society will hold an old fashioned spelling bee and school program at the cnurch, Oct. 23 in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meisin ger drove to Lincoln Friday to get Mildred Ann, who is a stu dent at the university. On Sun day the Meisinger family with Mrs. Anna Meisinger were at the Harvest Home dinner at Lewis- ton. The Earl Jenkins family from Chicago are visiting with Mrs. ' Jenkins here. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wehr bein visited relatives in Murray Sunday evening. A large crowd attended the Harvest dinner at Lewiston Com munity Center Sunday, Oct. 12. Amonj, out-of-towners there wtre Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hild of Council Bluffs, who were visiting the A. T. Hansen home and Miss Margaret Moore. A congregational meeting and covered dish supper was held at the United Presbyterian Church last Thursday night. A large number were out to enjoy an evening of fellowship together. Mrs. David Bradley and small son, David Jr. returned from the Methodist Hospital last Wednes day. Both mother and son are doing well. Mrs. Joe Richter and son, Dennis Frank, came home last vtck from the Clarkson Hospi tal. Mrs. Richter's mother, Mrs. E. O. Mrs. Emmett London under went an operation Friday morn ing at Bryan Memorial Hospital. The Jolly Joker Club fcnter trined their husbands at a night pz-.rty Saturday at the Legion Hall. Mrs. Kenry Mannbeck enter tained her Garden Gopher 4-H club Monday evening. They fin ished their record books after I which they were given a test. They also played games and were served a very declicious lunch. The Jolly Joker Club met Fri day afternoon with Mrs. Mary Welton. Mrs. Inez Mannbeck, Mrs. Mil dred Comstock and Mrs. Will Armstrong were in Plattsmouth on business Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meisinger, Margaret and Virginia Cameron. The Freshman Class enjoyed j a a "Hay Ride" Friday evening. ; Mrs. Bernice Bell and Mrs. La Verne Armstrong were sponsors and Lloyd Grady furnished the tram and hayrack. He also went along and drove the horses. Af t?r a very enjoyable ride they slopped and had a weiner roast. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Grady and Miss Evelyn Grady spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rosencrans and Jackie at South Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Calvert of Indianola, Nebr., arrived Sat urday morning for a visit at the Henry Mannbeck home and will accompany Mr. and Mrs. Mann beck to Missouri Monday. Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Cameron of Platsmouth called at the Emil Meisinger home Wednesday af ternoon. Dr. and Mrs. Wallice of Friend, Nebr. and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles spent Tuesday evening in Omaha. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Meisinger took Vivian Meisinger to Elm wood Sunday evening, where she will visit her sister, Mrs. L. G. Cameron and from there will &d on to her school at Union, Nebr. Mrs. Lloyd Grady returned home Sunday after a weeks visit at Denver with her. brother, Rus seli Dollarhide. Mrs. June Kyles attended a Miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Delcres Chuda at Agnew, Nebr. Sunday afternoon. Miss Chuda will be married October 27 to Darrell Kinney, oldest son cf Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Kinney of Alvo and also grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kyles. Mrs. Bessie Care Mr. and Mrs. Frank Isaac and family called on Frank's brother, Louis, Sunday. Mrs. John Schlater was an Omaha shopper Friday. Andrew Schoeman had Sun day dinner at the home of his sisiter, Mrs. Adam Rentschler. Dr. H. W. Worthman has bought the Frolich place on North Hill. Chester Elscman of Murdock is painting and papering the house recently bought by the Dr. H. W. Worthman family. Daugherty of Alliance spent last week here j visiting at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Brunson, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Brunson and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ward. Mrs. Daugher ty is a daughter of J. R. Ward.; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Thornton have spent the past week visit ing with relatives in South Da kota. Simon Johnson had consider able damage done to his gravel truck by fire about eleven , o'clock Monday morning. A spark from a lighted pipe was thought to have ignited the ma chine while "Cy" was working on it. The Fire Department was called to put out the blaze. i Jaunita Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson has been selected as a member of the girls Glee Club at the Ne braska Wesleyan University. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Mayfield and Mrs. J. R. Noyes visited the Gene and Pat Mayfields in Oma ha last Friday. Harold Koop, Sr. has been on the sick list this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shrop shire of Weeping Water moved into one of the Crawford apart ments Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reimer of Dunbar, Calif, were Friday eve ning guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. McGregor. Mrs. Wendell Hart of Weeping Water spent one day last week visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rrlph Welte, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Schwalm and two children of Omaha were visiting at the Wm. Schwalm home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Zastera drove to Hooper Sunday and j spent a few hours visiting with relatives and friends. Mrs. R. W. Dinsdale and son, ! Dx kie, have been visiting- rela tives at Loup City during the past week. Rev. Dinsdale had charge of the music in the Cass County Sunday School Convention held in the United Presbyterian church at Murray last Friday. H. F. Thurman and Betty and : D. C. Huffman were in Lincoln on Saturday.
